Guest Cerebus Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Well "irreversable" until the BJP comes back into power and/or a new dictator takes over Pakistan.
Highland 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Those rising tensions between Japan, China and Korea could and should be the biggest story in the upcoming year. Some people are already talking about war erupting over there. Not good.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 The Chinese government, rather than blaming their own people for actually starting a fucking riot, blame it on Japan. Japan's already made numerous apologies already and the Chinese quite frankly haven't deserved any more than they got. More and more, I'm just kind of hoping China accidentally breaks off from the rest of the continent and falls into a pit of hell or something.
Highland 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Interesting how they are 'spontaneously' protesting in a country where protests are illegal and often punished with lethal force. Though the Chinese and Koreans need little reason to hate the Japanese; we're forgetting that they all have bad blood between them from long before the second half of the 20th century. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 I just don't see War breaking out between Japan and China. China's still building up their military strength, and with North Korea still the biggest problem in that part of country...China doesn't want to give NoKo a reason to attack SoKo. It's too bad in Nepal that the Rebels are the Maoist. So instead they'd just be replacing one dicatator with another. A lose-lose situation, imo.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Interesting how they are 'spontaneously' protesting in a country where protests are illegal and often punished with lethal force. The official party line, according to the daily government-printed newspapers, is that they would much rather have peaceful protests. So they're pretty much sanctioning this round of demonstrations so long as they're against someone else and keeping themselves safe by asking the populace to not be violent about it. The one thing I'll agree with them about is Japan not getting a permanent chair on the Security Council. I'd rather see that go to India or something if they HAVE to have another non-Western country. Guest Cerebus Report post Posted April 18, 2005 They DID have peaceful protests...of course that was in 1989 and we all know how well THAT ended.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Yeah, but that was against their own government. Besides, you're working with Communists here, and the absolute truth could be a sinful lie the next day. I like that kind of flexibility.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to jinx it.
