Is GTA3 just as good as Vice City?

So I bought a GTA:Vice City PC game this weekend. I'm not really into games much but after hearing a lot of good reviews about GTA games and seeing this one on the shelf for just 20 bucks I decided to pick it up just to see what it is, and after playing it for 2 days I think the game is amazing.

Now, I'm thinking about buying a GTA 3 game as well. For those who have both games, do you think GTA 3 is just as good as Vice City? And which one would you say is better overall? Thanks.

A lot of people would argue that it's better. Vice City is more like Scarface but with an 80's soundtrack. 3 is more like The Godfather but with a Scarface soundtrack.

Both are good. So is San Andreas.

I still think that Vice City is the best of the three. However, I only got to play San Andreas for a day and I didn't get to play three until Vice City was already out. I like the Mafia car in 3 the best though.

All are worth owning.

I liked San Andreas the most just because it has a lot of both Vice City and GTA 3's best traits and it was a bit more original than the others. But definitely get GTA 3.

If you've played through Vice City and then get GTA 3, you might miss the little things such as being able to punch cars, being able to shoot out tires, and diving out of moving cars (I might be wrong about this one). It's still well worth the purchase, though. Since I played VC first, I like it more than 3, but overall, I think San Andreas is the best for its wide variety of just about everything.

My friends and I beat SA and wanted to go back to 3 to see what the difference was.

Within 5 minutes I had to turn it off because it just wasn't the same.

Once you play the newer one it is hard to go back to an old one. It feels slower.

yea, plus you keep wanting to do all the cool sa stuff, you forget that you cant climb walls or shoot out windshields or tires or what have you .
