Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 You hate somebody you have never met? And you teach children? Man, that is scary. -=Mike

Man, that is scary. -=Mike Don't make me pull out the quote where you were on the opposite side of this argument, bringing up people that you hated that you never met, I only remember because, well, it's the opposite of what you're saying now. Of course, they were mostly ruthless human beings that killed lots of people, but maybe RJ knows something about you that we don't

I don't hate Robot Jerk. Of course, I think he's a 12 year old with a gimmick... -=Mike
Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 The question dodge is the lamest internet discussion move of all-time. Why don't we make this into an actual, y'know, thread about something?
SuperJerk Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 You hate somebody you have never met? And you teach children? I fail to see what one has to do with the other.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 You hate somebody you have never met? And you teach children? I fail to see what one has to do with the other. Well, logical comparisons are clearly not a strong suit of yours... -=Mike
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 You hate somebody you have never met? And you teach children? I fail to see what one has to do with the other. He's basically saying you shouldn't teach children because you hate someone you've never met. Pretty much since you teach children you can put anything there that involves you being of influence. "You're a bigot? And you teach children?" Whoops, thought we were in the Texas thread again.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 But he meets the children. It only works halfway at best.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 But he meets the children. It only works halfway at best. If you heard somebody say he believes the earth is flat and was teaching science --- you wouldn't ask questions? -=Mike
Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I would, but that's relevant to the subject being taught. Unless RobotJerk is teaching Life Management Skills, hating other people is incidental to the material taught.

Jingus Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I love it when an argument over politics turns into an existential discussion of philosophy.

Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Man, keeping track of non-existant numbers? Wow, it's so like what the Nazis did... -=Mike ...Nobody lames up a thread like RJ trying to be witty...
SuperJerk Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Would that be Part 938270392487509834750989? Or just a continuation of Part 938270392487509834750988? I'm torn.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 In your honor, a picture of the dead horse you've been beating. -=Mike
SuperJerk Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I notice you still haven't explained what you meant. I wonder why...
Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Because I don't know --- nor care --- what the fuck you're talking about. -=Mike
SuperJerk Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I was asking what my hating you has to do with my teaching of children. You never explained. So, essentially, we're talking about what YOU were talking about.

That a person is capable of hating someone they do not physically know (especially when he is at least familiar with the avatar that said person perpetuates online) in no way characterizes how he is likely to interact with school children.
SuperJerk Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Maybe Mike thinks I hate him because he's black?

No. Hatred of an individual you don't know simply because you disagree with him is a sign of some serious social problems. -=Mike
The Czech Republic Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 So having never met Joseph Stalin, I can't hate him?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I don't think RobotJerk claims to hate you "simply because [he] disagrees with [you]." Were I to take a guess, it'd be because he sees you as willfully ignorant, self-aggrandizing, blindly faithful, and unable to either compromise or accept mistakes, something along those lines. Whether or not you agree with that assessment ($10 bucks says you don't), it's a far more substantial reason to hate. As a representative of qualities he dislikes, it would make sense for the dislike to extend to you as well. Hate doesn't have to be bad, as long as you don't act out on it or let it get in the way of your integrity. When restrained, it helps us define and evaluate our beliefs in a focused way.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 So having never met Joseph Stalin, I can't hate him? Yes, you can. If you hate, say, C-Bacon --- then you have some deep problems. -=Mike
