Your worst ever sporting moment

Recommended Posts

Lets see.

The Jets last year losing to the Steelers on two missed Doug Brien kicks. The Yankees blowing a 3-0 series lead to the Red Sox. The Knicks losing in the 1994 NBA Finals, Game 7 to the Houston Rockets. The Knicks blowing a 3-1 lead to the Heat in the 1997 Semi-Conference Finals. The Yankees losing in 5 games to the Mariners in 1995. The Yankees losing to the Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series in Game 7. The Jets losing to the Broncons in the 1998 AFC Championship game. A series of Reggie Miller moments against the Knicks. That's all for now.

I'd agree with all of those

Music City Forward pass.

It was a legit call!

Someone explain the whole tuck situation again. Because all I hear is people talk about it but never actually delve into it.

"Worst ever" firsthand moment was Jays-A's, ALCS Game 1, when the woman next to me had a seizure. Plus, the Jays lost (mind you this was Stewart and Eckersley at their peak).

Current "worst" moment - every single fucking time the ABC/TNT announce team fellates Vince Carter.

Also - every time the Leafs lose to Philly in the playoffs. It's the same feeling Chris gets with Sens-Leafs.

Must add the Giants losing sb 35 to the ravens. the o3 playoff loss against SF. The 97 loss to Vikings, 93 loss to SF. Ginats blow a lead with 7 secs left agaisnt Cowboys on MNF when the kick off went out of bounds.

others: Devils lose Game 7 to Avalanche. Nets swept by Lakers (moreso cuz I live in Cali and hate the Lakers)

personal: High School (not on team but a fan) Our football team has a great year in 98, going something like 10-3 on the field (but having to forfeit like 3 games due to an ineligble player-who actually was just a bench guy) , had a winning season for the first time in many years (and after being on along league losing streak years earlier, and won only one game by forfeit my freshmen year) won the new league that had been created when the teams were realigned, won two playoff games. Lost CIF Semi-Final 17-7 (I was at the game, it was a cold november sat night, we were winning 7-0 into the 2nd half, wound up tied, but watched as the other team scored 10 points to take the win.

Next year homecoming 99 game, lost when we went for a 2point conversion and the win instead of kick for tie. Only had 10 guys on the field at the time, one guy forgot to come out. that wound up costing us the league title. made playoff though and lost again to same team who beat us year earleier, this time in 2nd round of playoffs. That was my senior year.

next year 2000, I was in college but came back to my alma mater for several games, won league again. firts round playoffs, we are winning with not much time on clock in 4th qtr (maybe a few mins) instead of running out the clock, one guy gets a great run and is runnign down the field a bit.....and FUMBLES. other team recovers drives for winning TD. oh man did that suck.

in 03 went to first round playoff, and we were destroyed.

yikes

The Raiders were winning the AFC Div playoff game against the Patriots in the snow at Foxboro. Pats were down by 3 making last ditch drive with not much time left. Brady appears to fumble at midfield, thereby sealing win for Raiders.....but the booth orders a replay and ruled that Brady made an incomplete pass, this was due to the tuck rule, which I still dont fully understand. got ball back kicked field goal to tie, won on field goal in ot and went on to win SB.

Actually I laughed at this one cuz I wanted the Raiders to lose, nto only cuz they beat the Jets that year, but because I liked to see all these SOcal fans who jumped back on the raider bandwagon even though they left LA years prior, get upset.

Just like last year, though the Yanks lost, at least I got to see millions of socal morons cry and change the subject when theyre beloved Lakers got trampled.

Hey you got to have fun too.

I'm sure someone else can describe this better then me but here goes: Tom Brady looks like he's going to throw the ball but pulls his arm back in. He then gets hit and fumbles the ball. Oakland recovers. Game over....except that the refs review the play and call it an incomplete pass because once he moves his arm forward with the ball it becomes a pass and not a fumble. Something like that. New England wins, and starts this dynasty of death that makes me wanna kill myself. Fuck you Tom Brady.

Well I knew about what happened. But I don't know what the tuck rule is either completely. I was hoping someone could shed some light on what the fuck it actually means.

Detroit vs Montreal, where dumb ass Mario Trembly leaves Roy in for nine goals.

If ever you could make a case for one man singlehandedly killing a franchise for years, Tremblay would be the guy.

Here's the official explanation:

"Late in regulation, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady initially was ruled to have fumbled while being hit from behind. However, after a review by instant replay, Brady was ruled to have thrown an incomplete pass because his arm was going forward and he had not tucked the ball completely into his body."

I think Isiah Thomas is making a run for that title with the Knicks...

Being a Phillies fan it's easily the Joe Carter HR off Mitch Williams in the '93 world series.

Which not-so-coincidentally was one of the great moments in Toronto Sports History. Funny how these things work...

The 1993 Series used to hurt, but we've paid Toronto back by eliminating the Raptors in 2001 and knocking the Leafs out of the playoffs the last 2 years.

The NFC title game against Tampa became a horror movie. First the TD in the opening series, which made us all happy. Then comes the Jurevicius catch, then the Keyshawn TD, and finally the Barber INT. The Super Bowl this year comes nowhere near that game...

I don't usually get angry about the 2004 NFC title game because it finally proved to Reid that James Thrash is useless and Todd Pinkston is a pussy, and led to the TO acquisition...

!988 NLCS, game 4: My Mets blowing a 2-run lead in the 9th inning and lose it in the 12th thanks to fuckin Gibson.

2002 AFC Wildcard Playoff: Browns blowing a 24-7 lead against those stinkin Steelers and lose... remember this one Crumb.

!998 NBA Finals, game 6: Stockton and Malone's last chance for a title and Jordan screws it for them.

!985 NBA Finals: Jabeer carrying the Lakers to beat the Celtics.

2003 ALCS, game 7: The time the Red Sox should've won, but didn't.

1979 Eastern Conference Finals, game 7: Bruins. Canadiens. "Too many men on the ice."

That fucking kid who's name should not be spoken, stealing the ball from Tony Tarasco, leading to a home run, and an unfair Orioles playoff loss, that ultimately cost them a trip to the World Series. Then the little bastard was paraded around by the New York media and invited on to talk shows...the Yankees deserve every bit of bad luck that comes their way and I hope this is the year the Orioles knock them off their mountain...

Oh I was at the final game of the 97 ALCS, a 0-0 game going into the 9th, Armando Benitez gives up a solo homerun to Tony Fernandez, the O's lose 1-0 and the Indians parade onto Camden Yards and go to the World Series. :(

1996 Western Conference Finals- The Wings decide that a choke job is in order and get handled by Colorado

2005 Rose Bowl- Watching Michigan lose that game on a field goal just sucked because I didn't want them to lose yet another big bowl game.

2003 First Round NHL playoffs- Giguerre stands on his head and totally steals the entire series from Detroit

1993 Baseball Season- Tigers in first place late into the year, tank the rest of the year, havent had a winning record since. It sucks that the Tigers were so good in the 1980's but they have been flat out horrid for the last 15 years

I would've felt bad about watching Vince Young do whatever he wants more than losing on a field goal.

Knicks losing the 94 Finals to Houston, that hurt, I really thought we had a championship team from 92-94 and that was our shot with MJ retired. The Yankees complete meltdown last year is close, but the disapointment is cushioned by the 4 championships I've been fortunate enough to witness. The Knicks are 30 years without one, and at this rate won't be cutting down the nets anytime soon.

Poor Vikings. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for you guys. I liked them before Moss, at any rate, kinda how I feel sorry for the Lions. Until gameday, anyways.

As for me, it's kinda obvious...
