Poor Simpson episodes

Recommended Posts

Furious D or whatever the racehorse episode was is the worst Simpsons episode I've ever seen. I think they more or less acknowledged during it that they had completely run out of ideas.

My favourites would either be the Larry Burns episode or when Bart becomes Mr Burns' heir.

I don't even know what most of those "Worst episodes" are about, and can still safely guess none of them are before Season 9.

Damn, I actually still like The Simpsons, but I do agree that most of the episodes listed in the Bottom 10 (excluding Gump Roast, I'm Going To Praiseland, Simpson Safari, and Saddlesore Galatica) are bad.

Homer Goes to College and Homer At The Bat are my favorite episodes. I can barely stand any new Simpsons episodes - Homer screaming and wailing and going to other countries and being a shitty Family Guy rip off when Family Guy isn't even any good, I just don't find those things funny.

You may not like Family Guy Tawren, but you probably still agree that Family Guy was meant to be crazy and over the top, and the Simpsons wasn't, at least not to the same extreme. That might account for the poor performance of the Simpsons past several seasons, it's a show that doesn't play to its strengths anymore and that's why it's been on a downward spiral lately.

Furious D or whatever the racehorse episode was is the worst Simpsons episode I've ever seen. I think they more or less acknowledged during it that they had completely run out of ideas.

Comic Book Guy: "Excuse me. I believe The Simpsons already had a horse, and it forced Homer to work at the Kwik-E-Mart with hilarious consequences."

Homer: "Does anyone care what this guy thinks?"

Crowd: NO!

Lisa: "Mom, I think you might have a gambling problem."

Comic Book Guy: "Hey, I'm watching you!"

Yeah, Furious D was a pretty bad episode. The one where Marge takes steroids has quite the possibly the least funny third act in the history of the show, although the first two are minimally funny.

I do completely agree with this. I hate Family Guy for what it is, but at least it is what it is. The Simpsons aren't Family Guy, and trying to be Family Guy isn't working for them. They need to realize that.

The worst episode is probably the one with the old western guy, Buck McCoy or something, that episode was horrible.

I don't care if people voted at a website, there's no way that's the worst episode they've ever done. Some of the recent stuff with the mentioned flaws (globe-trotting for no reason, over compenstation with pop culture references) are pretty much unwatchable. Buck McCoy at least followed the classic Simpsons formula and produced some funny lines and situations.

I do hate Bart being chased by the dog though, the set-up could have been a lot better....

I'm with Tawren on those episodes, Homer Goes To College, Homer at Bat, and Homer the Heretic, are awesome episodes. I hate Homer now, and that's mainly because of how good he was and isn't now.

I am not with T666 on any of those episodes. I kept looking for "least" infront of the word "favourites" but for some reason it wasn't there. Those are awful, awful episodes (cept for the last 2), and are perfect examples of what I was talking about before.

I think Homer the Great is my favorite episode.

I'm among the bigger Simpsons apologists on TSM and even I have to admit that this season has been horrid. I used to plan my entire weekend around the Simpsons, now I only pay half attention while the episodes are on.

Having said that, though, I still think the Simpsons are funnier than just about anything else on TV.

For some reason, I really loved the Otto Show episode. THe Spinal Tap 1st act was pretty damn funny.

I thought the Ray episode last night was..... well.... bizarre. But it worked for me. I thought the Stephen Hawking explanation was hilarious.

This thread inspired me to watch The Simpsons last night.

...I hate you all.

After clawing my way through the Ray episode, I couldn't muster the energy to get through the Bart-is-Fat one. This show is nothing more than sight gags and "cute" play-on-words.

I gave up on the Simpsons after about 5 minutes. It's even worse than American Dad. I've only watched the Simpsons twice this season and the other one was that horrible Super Bowl episode.

I think Scully gets far too much blame for the downfall of the Simpsons. It was going down with or without him. It's not his fault that there's 300 writers for each show.

Hey, I liked the Bart is fat episode. When they redid the entire Simpsons beginning with the fat bart and he crushed Homer's car at the end... that was pretty funny.

What was the plot of the Furious D episode then?

My favourite episode is Homer The Heretic, also the one with the Dental Plan/Lisa Needs Braces gag, and the Cape Fear spoof....

They get a racehorse called Duncan, and to help him win they give him 'attitude' and call him furious D. Homer falls down a hole and into the underground realm of the jockeys who threaten to eat his brain unless his horse loses. I liked it, despite the fact that having actually typed the plot I have lost my grip on reality.

Well, RRR saved me time for writing, since was my response. Bart is Fat was just stupid, but I did like the 50 seconds where they mocked the opening (The full opening) with Bart being slow and fat.

That was probably the only thing funny last night from the two episodes

I still like most of the Simpsons episodes. I think it's still one of the funniest shows on TV, consistently. I don't mind the characters changing a little...I mean, after 15 seasons they need to do _something_, right?

I thought the two new episodes on last night were pretty funny, especially Bart getting overweight (which, I know, they already kind of did with Homer). But the opening montage parody with him collapsing the car roof had me busting a gut. Ray Romano guest starring *as a character* was pretty good too.

Most of what annoys me these days with the Simpsons is whenever they do one of two things:

1) A guest star makes an appearance as themselves. For a while it seemed like every episode had some celeb or another making an appearance and being the focal point of the show.

2) When the show blatantly makes fun of itself (pointing out the show's own decline in creativity, etc). I know there have been a few recent examples, but the episode with Furious D, the punkish race horse, is probably the most glaring in the whole series (eg. Comic Book Guy yelling at the Simpsons about how he's watching them, or something).

I thought the first Simpsons Episode with Rey Romano wasn't that great. but the 2nd one when Bart got Fat was hillarious. one of my fav parts was Bart reinacting the opening sequence while obeised, and the Itchy and Scratchy bit was great.

I love it when they do that.

During the clip show, I absolutely loved this...

"They'll never stop 'The Simpsons'

Have no fears

We got stories for years

Like...

Marge becomes a robot

Maybe Moe gets a cell phone

Has Bart ever owned a bear

Or...

How 'bout a crazy wedding

Where something happens and do-do-do-do-do

Sorry for the clip show

Have no fears

We got stories for years..."

Last time I tried to watch The Simpsons period was last Thursday when the local channel played some episode where Homer had to fight a bear to reclaim his manhood. It was seriously awful on every level, and my friends and I couldn't make it past the second segment. I'd been advocating shutting it off since the first segment, but whatever. I've been afraid to watch it since then for fear I'll catch an old episode and weep over what the show has become.

Oh yeah, Homer imagined Marge being a ROBOT. Way to go Simpsons for getting ideas from your own song parody of we didn't start the fire, or whatever the hell it was called.
