2 top 100 Video Game Lists

Recommended Posts

Guest CronoT

I've created a room at a free chat site we can use if we want to. All you have to do is register, and all that requires is giving your e-mail address so your confirmation code can be e-mailed to you.

It's at the website starchat.net, and the room is #TSM_Top_30_Chat.

It won't let me in because I have Windows 98.

Try downloading the StarPirch program. It's what I use.

Now that I think about it, that's my only big gripe with the list. Half-Life should be much much higher up than it is.

About the discussion thing - is it going to be a private convo between the panelists or is it going to be an open forum?

AIM convos don't hold a dozen people anyway, I don't think.

They do. The Backlash chat had a good number of people and it worked fine.

Okay, I downloaded the StarPirch thing and I still couldn't get it to work. And apparently, some spyware came bundled with it, so I had to uninstall it.

It'll be private as I said, we want to discuss it first ya know?

Hmph... This is troublesome if we can't find someway to hold the chat... Might just have to make it an open discussion at this rate.

Um, has the master list been made?

 No... I have till the 15th to create it, and I'm still waiting on some lists being turned in.

When are lists due again? Almost finished.

Lists are supposed to be due this Wednesday, but with Highland joining like yesterday, I might extend that to Saturday.

I think having the initial convo as an open discussion might be a bad idea. There might be too many people jumping in and bitching about the lists/placement of games. The bitching shouldn't happen until after the final, ordered list has been presented.

And I still think having the discussion in an AIM room would be the easiest way to go. All someone has to do is create a room and PM the name to the panelists. I rarely use AIM, but the majority of the panelists seem to have it and it's probably the easiest overall IM system to use.

That would take a lot of pressure off. I'll be finished before then, but tomorrow is going to be extremely busy for me and want to play a few more titles before finalizing my list.

chaosrage: I just finished off with the boss that appears under the giant haystack. I'm still not overly impressed.

You really won't be.  It's a fun game and all, but it really doesn't reach the upper echelon.

So far, the gameplay seems way too simple, controls seem a tad muddled, and the collision seems flat out bad in places. Rare seems to have known this, hence the chocolate EVERYWHERE.

I think all the speech crammed in really took a toll on the smoothness of the animation. It gets surprisingly choppy.

At it's best, it is supposed to run at 30 fps I *think*, but doesn't seem like it. I've been playing OOT a lot and have gotten used to a mere 30 fps already, and it still looks stuttery.

Are you playing it on emulator or on N64? I really don't remember any framerate problems at all. Give it time though. It gets a lot better.

Edit: The framerate counter on my emulator says it's running at a constant 60 FPS. I fought a huge boss and it never dipped below 59.9 once.

Considering the X-Box upgrade runs at 30 fps (every review says this is the same as the N64 one, but is constant in this version), I highly doubt that.

I'm using an N64, with the Expansion Pak (which I think it requires anyway).

^_^ Don't worry... I just got my top 4 games finished yesterday. So yeah, extra time was a blessing for me as well. Well, I've got more than four games, but only got to ranking 4 games.

BTW, I'm selecting one very lucky person whom I will send my list to to confirm that the list I submitted is my Top 30. Not some shit I just tossed together and went "BANZAI!"... <_< Or something.

I never realized how hard it would be to properly rank 30 games.

Yeah, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I sent in my list, but after looking over it, I've already changed my mind regarding the placement of certain games.

It could be just the emulator making it run smoother.

I keep changing my mind on my list. Also, I tend to rarely get things finished until the last minute, but even if I have to sit in front of my computer writing for 15 hours straight to get something done on time *cough*e-fed show results*cough* it'll be done.
