Bruiser Chong Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Anyone else tired of people acting like the Dodgers were the dumbest organization in baseball for letting Beltre go? Has anyone seen how Beltre's doing in Seattle?
Bored Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 The A's were shutout three times all of last season. They've now been shutout five times in 30 games to start this year. Pathetic.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Cubs are ass at hitting with RISP. To illustrate how bad things are, since Monday night, they've scored one run not related to the longball. And that was from a pinch-hitter I forgot was even on the roster. I smell seven in a row.
mike546 Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 The A's were shutout three times all of last season. They've now been shutout five times in 30 games to start this year. Pathetic. Even more pathetic that they couldn't score against an absolutley gased Mike Mussina in the 9th.
ISportsFan Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 The White Sox scored 10 runs in the first four innings, bailing out Jon Garland's poor 6th inning to win a 10-7 game. Konerko hit two home runs (5 RBI), with Iguchi, Rowand, and Uribe also hitting longballs. Garland won his 6th despite giving up 6 runs in 5 2/3 innings. The Sox seem to win in different ways almost every game, either with a bunch of home runs, earning RBI with walks, or stealing bases and getting clutch hits. They're 23-7 now, and I'm very fortunate to be able to watch most of their games, because it's really fun to watch a team that works hard and gets results early in the season. Hopefully it continues. Â Jason
Bruiser Chong Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 *wonders if anyone ever reads ISportsFan's daily White Sox game summaries* Â And the streak rages on to seven! A shame, too, since the Cards have dropped three in a row.
Guest OSIcon Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Brian Roberts homered in the first to give the O's a 1-0 lead over the Royals. Â That's now 9 homeruns and 28 RBI on the season and his average is still above .370. Granted, I think those numbers will go down some as the season continues, but Roberts' season so far can't just be attributed to a hot streak anymore.
2GOLD Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Brian Roberts hit his ninth home run of the season, more than doubling his 2004 total and the O's lead 1-0 after two innings of play. Â If the pitching can stay solid and the bats strong, it might not be impossible for Baltimore to hang around till September in the hunt for the East. If Cabera and Ponson could become more consistent and actually pitch strong then the O's might be in business.

Derrek Lee is still hitting above .400 with nine homers and 32 RBIs and that certainly won't remain the case. If Roberts is still hitting this way in late June, then we'll talk.
ISportsFan Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 *wonders if anyone ever reads ISportsFan's daily White Sox game summaries* Probably not. But that's ok. Either way, sometimes I feel like breaking up the monotony of most of the conversations with a different team. Â Jason
Vern Gagne Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I do since the Sox are the Twins competition for the Central division.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I'm hoping for a Sox downfall if for no other reason than to shut their annoying fans up. Go around the 'net and you'll find all these "fans" coming out of the woodwork to boast about how good they are and how bad the Cubs are. And they'll be gone once the Sox don't make the postseason again.
the pinjockey Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Is it not likely that the Red Barons' website carries a typo? Ok, that appears to be the case so I rescind everything until the Fire Ed Wade part. Â Another excellent game by Lieber, continuing to add to the amusement of the Yankee's struggles. Â Bitch time though, again Tomas Perez starts at 1B ahead of Utley and please explain how Jose Offerman is used as a PH over Howard and Utley against a RHP. I don't care if it worked this time, it is still idiotic thinking and it working this once will probably cost them in the future when he is willing to do it again because it worked once.
Mik Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Josh Beckett is on tonight - painting corners and dropping the 12-6 curve wherever he wants it. If you want to see good pitching and you can watch this game... I'd recommend finding it.
MikeJordan23 Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 The Cardinals losing three games straight to the Padres is not a good look. Today it was Carpenter, but for most of this season (Especially since Izzy got hurt) this bullpen has been atrocious. When Taravez is your best pitcher in the pen (When Izzy is out) you know you're in trouble.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Doesn't really matter, since every team outside of them and the Brewers are playing like shit so far.
Guest OSIcon Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 That's now 9 homeruns and 28 RBI on the season and his average is still above .370. Granted, I think those numbers will go down some as the season continues, but Roberts' season so far can't just be attributed to a hot streak anymore. I said I think his numbers will come down but I'd bet on him sending the season still with above average numbers. He has had a couple of 2 or 3 game stretches where he has done nothing, only to bounce back with a few multi hit games. He's cooled down a lot since the start of the season but is still putting up consistent numbers. I would be surprised if he hit .370 all season and continued on this homerun pace, but I'll be equally surprise if his numbers still don't end up being very strong.
Precious Roy Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Now you guys know what it felt like to be a Laker fan this past offseason. Nobody cares about the fucking Lakers, Christ! You can't take a little ribbing when your team falls off? Keep that shit out of the baseball thread. What does a Lakers off-season have to do with the Yankees IN-season? I went through the last Yankee drought, the Patriots pre-Parcells, the Knicks recently, boo fucking hoo. As far as I'm concerned it's open season on the Yankees and I welcome it, fuck sympathy, it'll just be that much sweeter when they get their shit together. Â Anyway, Moose threw a CG shutout day, WE'RE BACK ON TRACK!!!!
Brett Favre Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 A Yankee CG shutout. Haven't heard that in a while.
Vern Gagne Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Moose had to throw 131 pitches though, he's shot for at least his next star.
Cuban Linx Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Alfonso Soriano certainly looks be to adjusting to life as a #5 hitter, four homeruns in two games to tie the Major League lead with 10 for the season.

mike546 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Moose had to throw 131 pitches though, he's shot for at least his next star. He has an extra day off, his real next start wouild be on a travel day.
NYU Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I love how every time the Yankees win a game now, they're back on track. It hasn't worked out so far. Â "Hey guys, A-Rod hit 3 homeruns today. WE'RE BACK ON TRACK!" Â *freefall*
mike546 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 While I have no right to speak being a Yankee fan right now, if you can't score with the bases loaded and no outs against KEVIN BROWN, you have problems.
MikeJordan23 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Oakland A's might be the worst offensive team I have ever seen. Pathetic.
Bored Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 They're an embarassment. If Beane doesn't make a move soon to improve this offense they are officially punting the season.
