Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 3, 2005 I don't feel like citing all the sources, but go to www.hoopshype.com if you care about that sort of thing... During his trial for various criminal charges, Ex-Iowa star Pierre Pierce admitted he violated a no-contact order by calling his ex-girlfriend 80 times in one day. Ex-Kentucky star Chuck Hayes is involved in a possible rape case. No charges have been filed or anything. Dana Barros skipped out on a $110 dinner bill after dining with some Boston radio guys recently. Barros said he had to leave early for a TV appearance but forgot to leave some money on the table. Ray Allen said he thinks NBA players should be paid to play in the Olympics. Basically his idea is that in order to motivate NBA guys, who would rather chill all summer, there needs to be some money involved. Shaq said Nets coach Lawrence Frank needs to change his name to Laura after whining about the refs so much. George Karl said Manu Ginobili's style of play is ugly. "Just put your head down and run into people. I guess that's the new brand of basketball," he said. Minnesota would supposedly consider trading KG for three starters and a draft pick. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Who would be willing and can afford to give up 3 players, and a draft pick for Garnett?
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 3, 2005 They'd mentioned the Nets (Jefferson, Vince, Kristic and a draft pick.)

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 They talked about the Ray Allen comment on Around the Horn too. Woody and Mariotti said hes out of his mind and Smith and Adande said they agreed. I think he is out of his mind. Like Mariotti said, if NBA players are too spoiled to take 2 weeks out of the summer every 4 years to play a sport they supposedly love, then to hell with them, go get some guys who actually want to play. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 It is not just 2 weeks every four yers. I believe they want a two year commitment from the players now (I assume they want the exact same team for the Worlds and then the next year's olympics). Throw in the travel and practices and you have lost the entire off-season. So if a player signs on to go to the Olympics they would end up playing 3 full NBA seasons and 2 full summer tourneys without a break. So to blow it off as 2 weeks every four years is just absurd. That said, I don't agree with the idea of paying for the Olympics. If you don't want to play I have no problem with that at all, but I just don't like the idea of paying for these games. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 One interesting story is the Wolves going after compensation for Saunders. It would really help a team of some young talent to get either 1st rounder this year or next, or even a early 2nd from someone like Cleveland.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and a couple of picks for Garnett. My thoughts exactly. Kobe and KG on the same team? Yeesh. And they could watch the playoffs together every year with a team that dead. Did anyone watch Hubie Brown breaking down every single possession that Shaq had during the Nets/Heat game on Sunday and showing him committing a offensive foul on ALL of them. His first 8 possessions were CLEAR offensive fouls. Funny that he calls Frank a whiner when he was actually fouling the guys.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 yeah, I can easily see that dope Isiah Thomas giving up Marbury, Jamal Crawford and 5 draft picks for Kevin Garnett...god I hate liking teams that suck this bad...
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Kobe and Shaq on the same team, we saw what happened. Kobe, Payton, Malone and Shaq on the same team, we saw what happened. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 If Minnesota trades Garnett, I will revoke my Timberwolves fandom. Garnett should retire in Minnesota, and that's all there is to it. The team was the #1 seed last year They don't need a complete upheaval.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Minny should focus on getting rid of the crap that surrounds KG, like Spreewell, Hudson or Cassel. They need to build around Garnett, not trade him away.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 not Jamal Crawford, though...they need a decent backcourt...they need to figure out how to dump Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston from their god awful contracts...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Not for Jamal Crawford? Its Jamal Fucking Crawford. Tall two guards that shoot alot of threes, drive to the hole occasionally and try to play the point are a dime a dozen. Its K fucking G. With that said, you don't trade Kevin Garnett for anyone not named McGrady, Lebron, Kobe, Duncan or Wade(yes, I put Dwayne Wade in this catagory). As a matter of fact, you don't trade any of those guys unless you are trading for another one of them (except Duncan, who you don't trade at all, ever). Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 not Jamal Crawford, though...they need a decent backcourt...they need to figure out how to dump Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston from their god awful contracts... We probably could give 'em Penny (since he has 1 year left) and take on Wally's bad contract. Plus, we still have Ariza who can be the 2. Bonzi Wells is going to be a FA, maybe the MLE? You have to take KG; finding another 2 guard isn't too difficult.

Imagine how embarrassed of themselves Stockton and Malone would be if they'd only won three titles together. Besides, I think KG has much, much, much less of an ego than Shaq did/does. And even Kobe/Malone/Payton/Shaq at least made it to the NBA Finals.. Where Malone was battling injuries like he had all season and Payton was running around confused in the Lakers' offense. Everyone's happier now though, I'd imagine (except for Kobe). The trade Cena's Writer mentioned to the Knicks actually makes the most sense, since what New York needs is really a nice big roster overhaul, and there are only a few players you can build your franchise around, the likes of which Ripper mentioned a couple posts up. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 3, 2005 More rumors from today... The Bonzi Well-Mike Fratello saga allegedly boiled over Bonzi was late for a team meeting before Game 4 of the Suns series. Up to and before that, the two hadn't even spoken to each other in a month. When Bonzi showed up to the meeting, Fratello told him to go home, and if he came to the arena for the game he'd have him arrested for trespassing. The Grizzlies desperately want to get rid of Jason Williams, and might just cut him to get him off their payroll. Pau Gasol might be on the trading block as well. Stromile Swift and Bonzi Wells are as good as gone, and the team might also let Earl Watson walk. The Nets are asking about Kevin Garnett in a trade. If that doesn't work, for free agents, NJ is looking at Stro Swift, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Donyell Marshall among others. Trade rumor: Lamar Odom and picks/bench for Jason Kidd. The NBA warned the Wizards that several of their players are wearing their shorts too long and are in violation of the uniform policy. The Nuggets plan to go after Michael Redd hard this offseason. Cincinnati swingman James "Flight" White is pulling his name out of the NBA draft after he goes through the pre-draft camps.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 The Knicks should take a look at Memphis. They should try trading for Gasol, and take on Jason Williams' and Cardinal's contracts to balance it out. We'd then finally have some backup PG, to go along with Gasol.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 The NBA warned the Wizards that several of their players are wearing their shorts too long and are in violation of the uniform policy. I thought the uniform policy violations now entailed the shorts being too short. Everyone wears their shorts really long/low now. (I assume John Stockton was grandfathered in when the policy was revised.)
