The RAW Thread for May 9, 2005

Recommended Posts

Jeez, 2 weeks and 3 passable-to-good Edge matches. It's a crazy world.

Come on now. 2002 wasn't that long ago. When he was feuding with Kurt Angle, he was in a **** match every other week.

Maybe the reason they're putting this together is the empty promise of a heel that will never come just to bump the ratings.

I hope that's what they're doing, since I think it'd be a mistake to put Edge and Lita together on screen.

Did everyone hear that loud Boo after Edge nailed HBK with the Briefcase. Man, that shit was loud, they REALLY hate him. When Edge gets Lita next week, HHH will be in FEAR on how much his boos will get dwarfted by Edge's.

And while I am at it, did everyone hear Christians pop? Neitehr did I. Can will kill this stupid "Christian is the new Rock" shit. He is just a real smarmy bastard who a small crowd likes.

Edge's heel heat may also have something to do with how over Shawn was tonight. The fans really popped when Shawn put Shelton's future over.

I'd be really happy to see Kane get a great ovation. As a match with just Edge getting boo'd wouldn't be as good as if the crowd BOTH supports Kane and rips Edge apart.

Here's to a big Edge win next week. Which won't happen.

What makes Edge v Kane a better final is that you can make a case for why either guy could win.

Exactly.

Edge has the Money in the Bank storyline on his side. Plus the whole Lita thing should she turn.

Kane has had a showdown with Batista in every battle royal in the past couple of years, and the crowd has popped for it every time. So I could definitely see them having a Kane/Batista match.

Yes, but he did get a reaction. It wasn't silent or anything like that. He makes an excellent heel and would make a horrid face, so it's all for the better.

And he was taking on Ric Flair. Who gets cheered against Flair these days ?

The Edge.

Props to Shawn Micheals for not letting that get bye.

What did he say to her? I missed it.

"Did you just call him 'The Edge'? *shrug* Heh, okay..." and then later said something about "Name problems aside, blah blah blah..."

I like that they're actually having an important feud for the IC title. Granted, the matches won't be as good as when Shelton was facing Jericho, but they should be watchable. Plus, I could see either guy winning, which is something that the Shelton/Jericho matches were lacking.

They could also push that given a Hassan/Shelton matchup, one of two things will happen: Hassan will be defeated or Shelton's 7 month reign will end.

I'm actually shocked that someone could be that stupid and function in life. Yeah, most the divas don't seem like Einstein, but at worse, they're just really ditzy, seemingly. Maria seems stupid. Pair her up with Heidenreich, she can only act to the gimmick.

Give me Conway/Benjamin, as it'll blow away anything Hassan/Benjamin can prodouce.

It has to be intentional. She can't be that clueless. I think they decide to make a gimmick out of her past gaffes.

Well duh, but WWE's obviously not interested in pushing Conway.

Perhaps they made her look goofy on purpose to show that "the backstage promos are live" and "anything can happen."

I think there are a lot better ways to show the unpredicability of Raw than having a chick act like she has the mental compacity of a 5 year old.

But do any of them let the writers act out their revenge fantasies against women in front of a worldwide audience ?

So no one thought HHH might have read this forum after hearing tonight's promo? I just thought it was funny how he said he'll leave and see how well RAW does without him by kicking back at his big mansion. Many here did say he needed to take a hike from raw's main event:lol:

I guess we get the Matt Hardy Memorial Match next week B-)

meh, I actually thought it was intentional. Thinking, it was what Edge wanted to be called, or maybe Edge told her before to call him that or something. It really fits in with his cocky character now to want to be called 'The Edge'.

Guess we'll find out next week whether it was really a mistake or not?

Has anyone said that if Christian/Flair is a wrestling match rather than a goof off, then it will be the worst wrestling match ever?

Worse than Booker/Christian? Does anyone else remember that awful never ending series those two had? God, I hope others are suffering from that memory too.

RRR, do you actually think it won't be a goof off with those two in the ring? Their "feud" is based on comedically insulting each other. No way it'll be a serious match.

This Raw wasn't as good as last week's show by any means, and I think some of it had to do with HHH just killing all joy out of the gate. I'm glad he's gone home or whatever for the time being, cause this whole "Wahh, I want my belt" bullshit is REALLY getting old. Batista did have several good points, stuff like "I beat you for the title, won the rematch, you lost 1st round of the tourney...you aren't fit for a shot." Oh and no one mentioned but he jobbed to JR.

I don't think next week is exactly right for a Lita turn. I have no idea if Kane is a heel or face at this point, so he could play heel vs. Batista and then more of a face vs. Edge if Lita turns later on. They haven't had any real build for a Lita turn, aside from everyone knowing the deal with her and Edge.

Anyone besides me miss Chris Masters tonight? I kept waiting for him to interrupt Stacy tonight, but got Simon Dean instead. Bah.

Well thank god someone was interrupting that fat ass.

I agree though, Raw definately wasn't as good as last week. But I did think the Edge/Shawn match was fun, and I thought Kane/Benoit was good for a Kane match. I also liked that counter Jericho did from the top rope into the Walls.

Everytime Flair should be doing a goof-off, they do a wrestling match. There should be NO wrestling in that match. Neither guy has the offense to make for a interesting match. As much as I can't stand Booker T in the ring, Flair is 10xs worse. Both of these guys' specialties is stooging for other wrestlers, so how the fuck can they put a match together?

They've had Batista/Kane. Edge is on a roll. It could go either way but the wiser choice is Batista/Edge before the draft, that way Edge will get his title shot and lose, then be paranoid about losing his MITB contract and being drafted to Smackdown
