NYU 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 Could it be? I think it is! I'm leaving feedback! By the mantra of "anything is better than nothing" though.... Marked out HUGE for the opening with Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow. Possibly my favorite HD opening ever. Felt like I was watching the show. Minus the fatality, of course. I thought Hoff might have actually killed Carl off though, which would have been awful. But luckily, Carl appeared 17 times again that night. All good appearances too, mind you. Liked the altercation between Scotty Static and CWM. Great to see CWM staying involved, and helped out in keeping GPX's mean streak. Hoff/Igor vs. Crystal/Gunner set up the stage nicely for what would happen later in the night. Like I told Hoff, I personally find Igor annoying....but hey, he's retarded, so I guess this was a feel-good moment. Or something. I miss Hoff being a real dick to him. Crystal should get her own festival. Something tells me Frigid would go, at least. I was feeling the GPX/Crystal interaction afterwards too. PRL's gonna beat John Brickston!! And he's going to do it with his words!! GRRRRRRRRRR! Nice upset from The Sk8ter Boyz over The New New Midnight Express. Wonder if it's setting the stage for a new tag title feud. The brawl right after was fun too, tying together a few different storylines. I actually really liked the Otaku interview. It just seemed very intense, and different from everyone else here so far. We're lacking a genuine HARDCORE guy around here, so Otaku could fill the void. I'm interesting in seeing this match next week. That Bohemoth/Graves match was nicely written. A squash match by every sense of the word, but man, you could just feel Graves getting the hell beaten out of him. Bohemoth looked like an actual monster here, and Wright made himself even more unlikable afterwards. Nice. Interested in seeing what happens with Jay Richards too. I also liked that Josie made so many appearances tonight, after being gone for a few weeks. Hopefully, the General Manager will continue showing up. She needs to earn her paycheck somehow. Cole had a great description of why the Birmingham Bad Boyz are so cool for ending their name with a "Z". Makes perfect sense to me. Quite a night for upsets. First, the Sk8ter Boyz. Now the Conquistadors. Anything can happen on HeldDown! Taco shits? Poor Faqu. And poor Robinson for getting his head dunked in the toilet repeatedly. Liked Blonde stepping up to the Bad Boyz though. Should be a cool match next week. Very nice four-way tag match for the HIYAH Tag Titles. One of those contests with non-stop action the entire way through. I liked Pigley getting the win out of nowhere at the end as well. Even I can't believe it, but the Love Doctors are actually starting to get over as real champions. The interaction in the back between all the veterans was handled well. I would have thought there should have been a little more hostility present between them, but it made sense that they're all unified to teach those "young punks" a lesson. Definite feeling of nostalgia. Really good stuff between CWM and Scotty Static. I liked the fans actually cheering Black T's antics, then seeing all the Originals unify under a common banner to take out GPX. But of course...CWM can't be trusted. GPX actually walking out under their own power, while all the others tried to take each other out, was a nice twist. This Jackson/Static heel turn has worked out quite well so far. Now we have a set tour list? Boo. THE 70S DUDE VS. ALFDOGG?! Holy shit, gonna set the VCR for that. Excellent Main Event between Hoff/Axel and Crystal/Gunner. Great action, and very well-written. I liked that the heels had a lot of control during it, since it did help their credibility immensely. The ending with Crystal swiping the Axel Slam to get the win was good as well. I think the Axel/Crystal feud gained some much-needed momentum here heading into School's Out. And next week.....70S DUDE VS. ALFDOGG?! SO EXCITING!! Oh yeah....and Hoff/Axel too~! I do like the idea that four matches have been scheduled for next week. Good trend to keep up. All in all, very good show this week.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 Poor Carl. Good show this week all around. My favorite part is: Benny walks over to the Sofa, and hands Coach a stuffed teddy bear in a Bulls T-shirt. COACH COLE Wow! Pretty cool, huh, Coach? COACH CABOOSE A special gift for our special little man. Benny pats Coach on the head, and walks off. COACH THANKS BENNY!!!! Adam 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 Nice opening with Winslow. I thought he was dead for a second, and was sad. Then I realised it was pretend, and I was happy. Hoff was there for Jericho's debut? Oh I hate you now. Its about time GPX got heel cocky. I've always pictured them as a more serious Edge and Christian, and now hopefully I can get my wish. "New and exciting ways of hating each other" got a laugh out of me. WHAT AN AWESOME TAG! IGOR WON! OMG! I'm glad GPX are starting to interact with everyone in their new attitude, builds up for feuds and stuff later down the line. If I knew who Benny the Bull was, I'm sure I'd mark out. *scrolls* Yay! He's still here! Well, just like that, another team is established, and the Dude-Supes feud rolls on. Very nice tag match, but the beatdown at the end could have been a little longer. Okatu II? Nice, with all his talk about Exploding rings, he could make a good 24/7 Champion. And the blood feud rages on between Wright and Rodez. I like Bohemoth, we don't have enough hosses around here. The Bad Boyz debut, and destroy their opponents in a squash, man, we have a lot of tag teams these days. It's good. Taco shits. Disgusting, but funny. Man, we must have 15 tag teams or something. We should have more tournaments. Reminds me of ECW when foriegn tags used to come in all the time to fight the champs. Heh, a Three Way Dance. Settle it old school style. I love it. I'm pikcing GPX to continue their newfound heelness. Which hatred will previal? That between the old guys and GPX, or the old guys and the old guys? Alfdogg vs. The Dude? I wanna hear promos next week! Great Tag Main Event. Gunner used the Gutwrench Backbreaker I talked about. Good memory Hoff. Crystal did the Axel Slam? Innovative. Nice. Big singles match next week! King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 V.good show. Feedback while I still have any sort of energy in my body. Great opening, but I can't believe you (Hoff?) didn't use the exploding head gif that turns up on the board every couple of months. Aside from the fact Carl's black and the head in the gif isn't of course. I'm glad for this new GPX attitude. Writing those chars was always tough, because there's only so many times you can summon the spirit of Patty before going insane. I kinda know where stuff is going, but yeah, I'm liking where it's going too. Odd to see the Tag match jerking the curtain. I'm sure there's a reason though. Oh and Axel's the guest ref. I smell trouble. Axel seems odd to me. I dunno why. I think it's because he's got the old school Taker pic as his picbase, but he's not as 'evil' as you'd expect. He seems more like Batista though, in that he likes to have a little fun with people before destroying them. The match...uh, yeah...again, I find it hard picturing Axel in this kinda role. But it builds up School's Out. Oooh...so this is setting up a different tag match. Makes sense now. 1/4* Building some new relationships with Crystal/GPX. Nice to see it handled sensibly, instead of just 'you're a heel, so are we, let's grab a shake'. PRL sets up his match. I suppose I better move on. Sk8ter Boiz/NNMX, non title of course. I markout for the Shooting Star Double Axehandle. A very nice little match, with the old school style of the NNMX and the flippy flop style of the S8B meshing pretty well. The PPV match (which is where it's leading, I'm sure) should be even better. Rushed ending. You're preaching to the choir here though, believe me, so it's all good. And we get extra build for Dude/Allen for good measure. *3/4 Strong, no nonsense stuff from Otaku. Certain people could learn from that. Ooh, segment from me. Uh...okay, that open challenge is still open until Tuesday. If no-one answers it by then, I'll have to come up with something. Again, a different way of handling the debut angle from Richards, which works real well. Usually, you'd know what was coming next. But the way it's been booked, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jay lose the tryout. Two more from me. Gives me a chance to be a little wackier, if nothing else. Speaking of which, kudos to Zack for letting me use Blonde and Faqu. It'd be a cool gimmick if Blonde became the Zack to Zack's Kelly Clarkson. Or the Mascot to Crystal's...err, Crystal. You now, the whole starstruck deal. HI-YAH Tag Titles! Who's the HI-YAH HV Champ again? Last I remember, it was Axel's, but obviously not anymore. Uh, anyway, the match itself is some entertaining, fast paced stuff. And a serious match. Shows that the Docs aren't just comedy characters. Not that there's anything wrong with comedy characters. Speaking of which, if PFL is coming back, maybe he can bring back Danny Douglas, seeing as I finally know about CHIKARA now. Oh, here come the Frankensteiners for a post-match run-in. What is it with the HI-YAH Tag Division and credibility all of a sudden. We should have a HI-YAH version of the Real World Tag Tournament. *1/2 Nice to see the old guard still don't like each other. The 3 Way Dance should be great. CWM and Static. With a twist, obviously, as we're getting heel Static and face CWM. Almost. Good match going, until we go into the School's Out build brawl. Which is handled very well. GPX get their asses handed to them by the old guard, until they disintegrate and allow GPX to get away. I'm liking it. * as it was cut short. Great build for Dude/Alfdogg next week. Dude/Alf? Next week? *marks*. Tag main event time. By the numbers booking, but the match is damn good as you'd expect. I really need to get over this picbase thing, because I keep imagining The Undertaker getting picked up by Gwen Stefani. An odd thought indeed. A strong match...seems to get a little lost at the finish, with Axel making the hot tag, only to come back in about a minute later. Still very good though. And sensible booking as Crystal pins Axel and thus looks like more of a threat to the belt. Axel/Hoff next week? I'm there. Obviously. **1/
Adam 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 I really do have to change Axel's picture, because he isn't old school Taker anymore, he's more human. I'm going to go looking on the Obsessed with Wrestling pics page for anything that would suit.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 I have to admit, I don't really know who Carl Winslow actually is. Or Urkle. Or Benny the Bull. So a big woosh for me for all that. Anyways... Good to have CWM back on the show and stepping up to GPX. Egos collide! Actually, is there anyone on the roster who doesnt have a big ego? Former world champ gets pinned by retard? Didn't especially like that, but I guess it all adds to the feud so its not a huge problem. The battle lines are drawn! Well, slightly. Good segment. PRL should cut out using recaps from past shows. My scroll wheel goes into overdrive and I can't imagine anyone else reads them. Wow, I was actually really surprised the Nerdlys got the pin. Who would have thought back when the Boiyz debuted dressed as Captain Kirk and Mr Spock theyd one day pin the champs. Should be a nice little feud for NNMX to consolidate themselves with the belts. Loved the reverse diving headbutt, that's a great move. Otaku II had a very straight style promo, which actually makes a refreshing change given all the angsty bitchy interviews of norm. Behemoth is an excellent monster. What ever happened to Gibraltar? He was cool too. Wright on PPV should be interesting. I agree with Caboose - it would be really funny if Jay Richards lost. Badly. The BBB/Conquistadors match and subsequent Blonde/Faqu interaction were both great. Poor Charles. BBB doing an excellent job of being annoying little chav bastards. I really found it hard match writing this week for some reason, but hopefully the 4 way came out ok. We do have a LOT of tag teams now, yeah. Tony, maybe we should bring back that top 10 rankings we had a while back? The Original Elite- Some Guy/Zack backstage bit worked well for me. It showed theres still an issue between the sides, but that they're both equally concerned with the new threat of GPX. The School's Out match should be excellent. First ever face reaction for Black T! That was kinda nice, although they'll still be staying as heelish as possible in all this. Good match and a logical descent into anarchy. Count me in on the 70s Dude - Alfdogg love. Should be a great brawl. Good main event, very readable. Liked Hoff busting out the PerfectPlex. Crystal using the Axel Slam was kinda weird, but I guess she's strong enough, maybe. And fueled by hatred~! I also like the setting up of matches for next week. Good show. Tony149 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 (edited) Yeah to the Top 10 returning, Eski. It seems like whenever we go a few weeks with a lack of matches we get that one show loaded with them, this week's HD being that show, almost all of which were tag matches. Nice cold opening. I remember being a fan of Family Matters back in the early '90s, when it was paired with shows like Perfect Strangers, a/k/a When ABC's T.G.I.F. was worth a shit. What's Patrick Duffy doing these days? Step by Step parody! As previously mentioned, I didn't expect the Hoff/Igor-Crystal/Gunner match to curtain jerk. I got a WWE vibe with a non-wrestler involved, but our version was handled much, much better than anything WWE would do. Enjoyed all the GPX/Originals skits, as well as those involving the BBB and Blonde/Faqu, who actually got some airtime. When I nearly got my hands on Blonde a couple of months back, I was going to give him an International Man of Mystery gimmick because I didn't understand his gimmick, if he had any at all besides the play on the name James Bond. Add me to the list of people who thought Otaku II's promo was good. Bohemoth's squash match did its job. I demand he form a tag team with a partner named Mammoth! I apologize for the ending to the NNMX-Sk8ter Boiz (with a Z, but "boys" spelled different than the BBB) match. The ending and post-match activites was a complete rush job. I wasn't very pleased with what I had written so I re-wrote a good chunk of the match Wed. night to a better liking. I really liked the double cross bodyblock finish. But had I known KC was writing a match where another jobber to the stars won, albeit by DQ whereas the SB won by pinfall, I would've put off this match a week. It looks like we both were going for the "Horowitz wins!" touch. Patty, wherever you are, now you know why I had the Boiz involved in the C.O.D. stuff a few weeks back. I knew what I was doing, biatch! Did writing "biatch" make me sound cool? Cool. It was nice to see we figured out where next week's show would be during the show. Good use of commerical time. The Dude was simple this week, and I liked that. Alf as Benny the Bull was like Krista as the Easter Bunny, nobody saw it coming. At least, I didn't. Heel vs heel next week? Like NYU said, set the VCRs, TiVo's, whatever you gotta set. Intrigue looms. I don't know what the Real World tag titles are all about, and I suspect it doesn't involve MTV (I know, that was horrible), but I take it as a compliment about the HI-YAH belts. You know, now that KC mentioned it, maybe we should make the HI-YAH International tag titles a secondary belt for the tag division a la the NWA/WCW World and U.S. tag titles. I remember when the idea of another set of tag titles was mentioned and was quickly shot down due to a small amount of teams at the time. Now we have more than enough teams to support a secondary belt and give teams not involved in the OAOAST World tag title picture a reason to fight over something, in addition to the HI-YAH belts being defended on nearly a weekly basis on OAOAST programming. The Docs continue to be pushed despite what some might have seen as an unsuccessful attempt to move them on up into the elite of tag teams late last year. Their gimmick may overshadow them, but I still believe they're the 2005 version of the Fantastics and can be a threat. Eski left the door open for me to polish up the Frankies attack on THR, but I was pleased with it, not to mention I had a lack of time. Very good match, too. Anothe good match was CWM-Scotty Static. It was short, but with plenty of action. Despite their heel turn, the tag division remains strong with new teams coming up and old ones being groomed. The OAOAST's fictional tag division blows away their real-life counterparts within the last 15 years easily. Seriously, pro wrestling hasn't had a strong tag roster since maybe around WCW 1992, when you had the Steiners, Williams and Gordy, Anderson and Eaton, Steamboat and Douglas, Rhodes and Windham, the emergance of the Hollywood Blonds (in the latter part of that year), etc. I guess you could throw in 2000 WWF, but it was really just the same 4 teams recycled. EDITED IN: Fun Conquistadoor-BBB match. Winslow pulling out his piece was funny. An Conquistadoor-All-American Boys match would do huge ratings. You have Uno and Dos vs. II and III. Money. Very good main event. Edited May 13, 2005 by Tony149

It's actually the 'Real World Tag League' if I were precise. All Japan thing. It's being going since '77 and pretty much anyone who was anyone in Japanese wrestling (and Jamal) has been in it. Funks, Bulldogs, Hansen, Misawa... It's 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw...or something similar. Not all that sure on format and stuff but a Tag League'd be a good idea if we ever get stuck for something to do for a month or two.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2005 Funny opening, although are we allowed death on the show? The lines are really drawn for Old vs. New with the CWM/GPX segment. I do like how GPX keeps their persona, with the language and everything. They didn't change completely and their heel turn (GASPS!) actually has reasoning behind it. Good stuff. I really like how the Skater Boiz are using crazy ass moves to get noticed, because that's realistic. They are a new, inexperienced team in a great tag division and do whatever to get noticed. Nice touch. Whoa, the Boiz won. Good match. I liked it. Hm, interesting promo by Otaku. A hardcore face? I could dig that. BUFFER Ladies and gentlemen, your following contest is scheduled for one fall. In the ring, from Chicago, Illinois... *cheap pop* BUFFER ...he weighs two hundred and thirty, Chicago-bred pounds... *cheap pop* BUFFER ...BRRRRRRRIIIAAAAAANN... GGRRRRRRRRAAAAAVVVEEESSSSSSSS!! *awkward silence* "YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!" screams one lone fan in the front row. The lone fan part just reminds me of when Ivory (part of the RTC at the time) was doing a promo to dead silence and some random fan yelled "Take your shirt off!". Or when HBK was doing an interview (while part of the NWO) to dead silence and a random fan yelled "Get to the point!". Good times. ANYWAYS, good beatdown to show the dominance of Christian and his associate. Can't wait for Leon to come back. Nice little match there, as was the bathroom promo. Taco shits though? Ew. Good four way match, although a bit short. I'm guessing that was the point with the sudden win and all. Anywho, german suplex on the ring ramp? OUCH! Loved the Original Elite/Some Guy/Malibu interaction. It would have just been plain stupid if they all of suddenly all formed together. Good work, and way to keep that feud alive as well as building towards both teams vs. GPX. Good match/post match shenadigans. These three way feuds are always interesting, and this one, even in the short time it's been going on, has been nicely done all around. Short and simple segment to (1) set a match for SO and (2) set a match for next week. Good stuff. I love it when stuff is planed ahead of time, HD wise. Good main event. Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2005 I'll be honest here, I didn't want Otaku to come off as a Mick Foley type. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted May 17, 2005 Carl Winslow is a bigger draw than PRL. It needs to be said. Good opening to the show. What's up with the "user posted image"? I can tell CWM didn't write the part with him in it since there weren't a bunch of typos ZING~ I'm already not liking this as Axel is the special ref. He doesn't have to be involved in everything having to do with Crystal since they already have a background. Its that whole Triple-H thing again. If he's not really involved in something big then they need a way to get him involved. Carl Winslow as special guest ref would have won me over though. Eh...this feud is getting way over booked. Benny the Bull is such a nice mascot...not a failed one at all. Now I begin scrolling for 20min straight. Great match from Tony. The Boiz seem pretty innovative and their style against an old school team is good. I just wish I had seen the ending to the match so I could have talked about it in the promo later on. Otaku II is bland thus far. He doesn't come across as having any real personality. Hopefully that changes. more to come.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 The way I see him, Otaku is pretty straight forward. I originally gave him this big old backstory and made him a "part time superhero"but it never panned out, mainly because I suck with humor. Otaku is a Chris Benoit type. Even with his backstory he was always like I want to wrestle, and I want to wrestle the best to prove myself. It works better when I have some character to play off of, because admittedly there isn't much there otherwise.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted May 17, 2005 If he can't cut promos then don't do'em. Wrestle and show off his personality through the matches. You might have to work with a jobber of some sort at first since people usually book themselves up pretty solid (points at Hoff) but eventually you'll find somebody to work with. You might have to work with a jobber of some sort at first since people usually book themselves up pretty solid (points at Hoff) but eventually you'll find somebody to work with. I was under the impression that one should write a little segment of some sort for every show, but I'll keep what you said in mind and maybe save the promos for when they;re necessary ie big feuds and whatnot. Does that sound like a better idea?
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted May 17, 2005 you certainly don't have to do something for every show. There have been times where I just said fuck it and sent in nothing. If your wrestler has no real mic skills then save the promos for rare and crucial times to make them really mean something.

Papacita 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 Had the chance to read the show again this week, so I figured I might as well throw some feedback down. JOSIE Well, that's my other surprise, Carl. Harriet called, and she's on her way here with your whole family -- Laura, Eddie, even little Richie. And I've given them all backstage passes. What about Judy? Remember Judy? Cool segment to start off, as I was also a big Family Matters fan. The opening match was fine enough with Igor going over Crystal. I was hoping to see him get destroyed again, but this was a good enough way to build to the ME. Honestly, I don't care much for the "losers must face each other" stip (seems like something more appropriate for a tag title feud), but Crystal's motivation for signing it made sense, so it's all good. I really liked the stuff with Alfdogg/Benny The Bull this week. Probably my favorite aspect of this week's show, as it really caught me off guard when he unmasked. PRL's promo served its purpose. I think someone said it would've come off better without the recapping, and I agree (the second one particularly seemed unnecessary to me). Aside from that, this was fine. I liked the Sk8ter Boiz/NNMX. The rushed ending wasn't a problem. What really jumped out at me here was the scene description throughout the match. I haven't been reading all that much lately, so I could be off here, but it seemed to me that in this match, Tony was concentrating more on capturing the little details (like Singleton holding his elbow after missing an elbow drop or one of the wrestlers holding their head after taking a move), which is always a plus. Okatu II seems like he could be an interesting character, though I do agree with FM that the introduction was a little bland. Faqu--I'm JUST now getting that. That's cute. Anyway, I liked the whole thing with the BBB, Conquistadors, Faqu and Blonde and Charles Robinson. Tired now. I'll edit in the rest of my feedback tomorrow. Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 Er...it's Otaku, not Okatu. Not a big deal, as long as no one screws it up on the show, but welll, you know.
NYU 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 MMoM, did you get a chance to read the show yet? If not, you should give it a skim-through. Reading the works of everyone else might teach you how to improve your own character. And after receiving some pretty good feedback from everyone else, it'd be cool if you returned the favor. One sentence or two on people's stuff could go a long way.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I did read the show, and yeah, I should've said something, my bad, the main thing that stuck out to me was the old school/new school feud, with the nice touch of (apprently) old feuds coming back the surface under tension. The thing at the beginning isn't my cup of tea, but it was well written, if nothing else. Those were what stuck out to me. I'll try to go back and re read the show and say a bit more later. Sorry about that, I got selfish.
