Lord of The Curry Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Get your thick glasses, vintage t-shirts and tight-assed jeans packed. Lineup looks pretty decent, it has to be said. Anybody in the Chi-town area should consider it. Saturday July 16th Tortoise Death from Above 1979 The Go! Team Broken Social Scene Four Tet Magnolia Electric Co. A.C Newman Beans (feat. The Holy Fuck) The M's Head of Femur DJ Tent Will Oldham Jean Grae Sunday July 17th The Decemberists Xiu Xiu Les Savy Fav The Wrens Deerhoof Andrew Bird Out Hud Dungen
Henry Spencer Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 That is quite the lineup. I'd go, if I were in the area.
Lord of The Curry Posted May 17, 2005 Author Report Posted May 17, 2005 I'd enjoy finding out who turned the show down. Arcade Fire had to have been asked to attend.
The Czech Republic Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 I'm in the area. Would anyone like me to commit an act of terrorism on behalf of everyone who can't stand Pitchfork?
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 I like---->love seven of those acts (not counting Will Oldham, since he's only doing a dj set). I'd consider going, if I lived in Chicago; my feelings on the webzine holding it are completely irrelevant.
IllustriousOne Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 I dig the majority of the groups on that list (also not counting Will Oldham, but if you get a chance to see him live, do it) and I think a couple friends of mine and I are going to try and go to this event. DFA? Xiu Xiu? Fuck yeah. Oh yeah, I'm also pretty sure I heard the Fiery Furnaces were gonna be there.
Lord of The Curry Posted May 17, 2005 Author Report Posted May 17, 2005 Xiu Xiu scares the shit out of me.
Gary Floyd Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Not a big Xiu Xiu fan either. However, If I lived in Chicago and wasn't stuck here in Southern Ohio, I'd go immediatly
Giuseppe Zangara Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Xiu Xiu has one song I really like—"Apistat Commander"—and a bunch I really don't like. I might've enjoyed their take on "Ceremony," but after Galaxie 500's version, why bother.
Lord of The Curry Posted May 18, 2005 Author Report Posted May 18, 2005 I dig "I love the valley OH" for the hideous scream near the end.
Lord of The Curry Posted May 18, 2005 Author Report Posted May 18, 2005 For reals? You're slipping, old man. Gotta keep up with the times.
Nevermortal Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 I dunno, I went to a Senses Fail concert a while back.
