Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 "Be" opened up #2 on Billboard behind Audioslave's new album. Pretty good. Hopefully this album will have some legs and help usher in more conscience hip hop on the radio, mainstream, etc.

Hopefully this album will have some legs and help usher in more conscience hip hop on the radio, mainstream, etc. I'm not sure I want that. Most what classes itself as "conscience hip hop" has been really subpar of late. It's meandering junk in its own way. I don't need Talib Kweli's shitty new singles blowing up. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 4, 2005 That's because to get into the mainstream, most of what passes has to water itself down.

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 First off, I agree with Ripper. Kweli is awesome. He and Mos Def (especially Mos) are two of my favorite rappers period. "The Food" is hot. I need to cop this once I get paid this week.
Modern Man's Hustle 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 I'm glad Talib and Mos Def hooked up and did Blackstar. Mos Def's rap/rock stuff was alright for a bit, but it's absolute shite when compared to his stuff with Talib.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Don't you DARE insult Talib. He is the fucking man. He used to be the man. Beautiful Struggle is ass. I found a lot of Quality pretty boring too. Black Star is one of my favorites but he's gone downhill since. I still like most of his guest appearances, especially his bit on the Roots' Phrenology. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Reflection Eternal is a classic, or near classic, album. It's top of the line. Add Black Star on top of that, and Quality is at least a better-than-decent outing, and you've got a top quality artist. Yeah, there's a drop-off, but he's proven himself to be very good. As for Mos, I thought Black on Both Sides was another classic (or near classic) album. As for his latest outing, the New Danger, I've learned to really like it; it's insightful and the beats are just going to be a thing of taste. I love how he spends the first half or so of the album talking about Jack Johnson, former heavyweight champ.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Talib is the truth, Reflection Enternal was hot, (Which gets alot of spins in my car) I liked Quality as well, Beautiful Struggle was decent, wasn't better than the first two albums, but its still worth a pick up. B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2005 While I know it's not as good as Quality, I think I actually like The Beautiful Struggle a bit more.
