Guest WrestleLore Report post Posted May 29, 2005 Sorry about the last topic Im trying to get back to my normal mode. anyway here is another attempt. Credit: PWInsider.com To promote the June ECW "One Night Stand" pay-per view, WWE has begun a poster campaign in New York City featuring classic pictures from the real ECW along with the caption "You Wouldn't Understand" across the bottom and top of the poster, as well as an ECW logo and event information at the bottom. There are currently five pictures being used for the campaign: -Spike Dudley flying into a crowd -Lance Storm pulling Francince off Dawn Marie -Tommy Dreamer bloodied and handcuffed to ring-ropes -Terry Funk wrapped in barbed wire with a pile of chairs next to him -Terry Funk pushing a flaming branding iron into Catcus Jack's face It's interesting to note that WWE is featuring Funk so prominently in these pictures for the ECW promotion, as Funk went public with his deciding to work the Shane Douglas ECW show instead of the ECW PPV by WWE, even going as far as to claim Douglas' show is where "the real ECW fans will be." I read something on this about Funk's choice, he came sounding more like someone who understands more of what is necessary for the business. He said basically the business needs competition, and Vince needs competition. Which was one of the factors that driven his decision to choose Shane's over Vince's. Karc 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 "You wouldn't understand" has to be one of the worst taglines I've ever seen. How are they supposed to get marks (because they've lost a lot of the ECW fans with the burial on RAW) to pay for something that they wouldn't understand? Seriously, pay for something that you don't get? It's like taxes, and everybody hates taxes.

He said basically the business needs competition, and Vince needs competition. Which was one of the factors that driven his decision to choose Shane's over Vince's. Actually, according to this week's Observer, Funk would've worked both shows but felt he wouldn't be able to recover from Shane's show in 2 days (Shane's show is 6/10, One Night Stand is 6/12) so he picked Shane's. WWE offered him more money, but didn't want to participate unless he could wrestle cause he didn't want to do just an appearance. Once he made his decision, he decided to go with the "fuck Vince" route in regards to his decision of the shows. He cut an anti-Vince promo that people who have seen it have said it is one of his best promos ever.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 Yeah, it is horrible. It's also funny cause it's clear the WWE doesn't understand either
The C Man 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 Sorry but I don't think it's as bad as everyone else seems to think. If I was a wrestling fan and didn't know what it was all about it would intrigue me.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 Wait...Shane Douglas is promoting the indy show that's basically saying "Fuck The WWE, this is where the ECW stars will wrestle", yet the WWE has him working their show too? Anyone else see something wrong with this?

Anyone else see something wrong with this? He won't be on the WWE's show. *pouts* Needed. Absolutely needed at an ECW Re-Union of any kind. Funk Dreamer Raven Sandman Sabu RVD with Fonzie. Douglas Dudleys. All of them. Yes, I realise Big Dick is dead, RIP, but to me, Big Dick, Sign Guy, Jeff Jones and Dances with Dudley are far more ECW than Dvon and Bubba, and that's not a shot at Dvon and Bubba. Rhino Whipreck Tajiri Super Crazy Styles Molineaux and Finnegan Gertnter Cyrus These guys are ECW. When I think of ECW, I think these guys. Obviously, I love guys like Kid Kash, The Pitbulls and The Eliminators, but it just seems so ECW with the guys I mentioned. And yes, we could all make a list of who was truly ECW and have everyone's be different, but to me, we need all the guys in the list above.

RedJed 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 I bet Funk will make a surprise appearance on One Night Stand. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't count on it - Funk has already publicly stated he turned down the WWE's offer of $10,000 for the show and is working the Douglas show only. He even went so far as to do a shoot on Vince and how he feels he killed off ECW, which is to be included on the Hardcore Homecoming version of the rise and fall of ECW DVD. With that said, Meltzer said that there is some of the ECW guys who are apparently just working the Douglas show but are purposely keeping their involvement on also the WWE show under wraps in fear of having heat with the Homecoming show people. So who knows.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2005 Loudside.com will be covering the event; this page on their site has ads identical to the ECW posters.
