spman 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2005 Although I still haven't finished the Greatest Stars of the 80's disc, I picked the Road Warriors DVD up yesterday, and it's another fine disc from WWE. The main feature is similar the the ones found on other discs, mainly just an overview of their career including all major feuds in all the different promotions. It features interviews with Animal, Paul Ellering, Barry Darsow, Jerry Lwler, Jim Ross, John Laurenitis, Eric Bischoff, and a few of the younger workers talking about their memories of LOD. It basically covers all the major points of their career, fromt starting out as bouncers in Minnesota, to working the AWA, NWA, WWE, WCW and then WWE again. They mention Hawks fall from grace, with his dissapearence in 1992, and his deamons tha haunted him during his second WWE run, although Jim Ross seems to refuse to admit that the drunk Hawk angle was in bad taste. Overall, it's a great feature for any LOD fans, or any wrestling fans really that are looking for a history lesson. The extra features include: Disc 1 NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling Road Warriors vs Joe Yong and Randy Barber NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling Road Warrirors vs Arn Anderson and Paul Jones NWA WCW Omni Texas Tornado Match vs Brisco Brothers w/ alternate commentary from Animal and Jim Ross NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling Road Warrirors vs Mike Jackson and Stone and Promos from NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling 8/27/83 AWA All Star Wretling 7/28/84 AWA ESPN Championship Wrestling 10/15/85 NWA Championship Wrestling 10/3/87 NWA WCW 10/10/87 NWA WCW 1/28/89 WCW Wrestlewar 2/25/90 Brutus Beefcakes Barber Shop Wrestling Challange 9/28/91 Royal Rumble 1/21/92 IYH: DX 12/7/97 Hawk Tribute from Confidential Trophy Room Paul Ellering "Go for it" Michael Hayes "A lesson for striving in success" Road Warriors Music Video Disc 2 AWA All Star Wrestling vs Larry 'The Axe' and Curt Hennig AWA Superclash vs Fabulous Freebirds Jim Crocket Memorial Cup vs Magnum TA and Ronnie Garvin w/ COmmentary from JR and Animal Great American Bash Russian Chain Match vs Ivan and Nikita Koloff Starrcade Skywalkers Match vs Midnight Express Starrcade Tag title match vs Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson New Orleans NWA Tag title Match vs Midnight Express WWF Challange vs Demolition WWF Wrestlefest vs The Hart Foundation Tokyo Egg Dome vs Hulk Hogan and Genichiro Tenryu w/ Commentary from JR and Animal Summerslam vs The Nasty Boys Summerslam vs Money Inc. Superbrawl vs Sting and Lex Luger RAW vs The Godwinns The only thing that dissapoints me is that there's no easter eggs featuring the original Rocco viginettes / promos, but oh well, can't have everything. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2005 I picked it up today at Walmart for like 17.87, I didn't see Greatest stars of the 80's, but I really can only get 1 right now anyway, and the Road Warrior set looked cooler. Looking at the set contents it looks like a slam dunk to me, lot of stuff I've never seen.

Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2005 They've been good about carrying WWE stuff the last year/ year and a half at the one by me. I think the Ric Flair dvd sales may have encouraged them to start carrying wrestling regularly. I hope to pick both up tomorrow night.

I saw it at the one near me for 23.99. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh I didnt see it instore I saw it on their website and figured that would be the price oops. and I'm not shocked they skipped 97 as they probably wanted to conserve time on the dvd and all that really happened in 97 was being in the chicago streetfight at mania, in the 10 man tag at canadian stampede, and winning their 2nd wwf tag title. To finally see my favorite two tag teams of all time battling it out in a dream match to see who truly is the greatest ever, such a glorious gift now on DVD from the WWE (thank God for them booking and taping the match too). fairtoflair7 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2005 Good Stuff on here...got it today at Best Buy for $23.99. Watched the whole main feature already and its very good giving information on each federation run. Like others stated, Jim Ross does not admit the drunk angle was in bad taste which I totally disagree with. They do show part sof their final match against RVD and Kane. Only dissappointments are that thier are no easter eggs found yet and they have an interview from WrestleWar 90' but no match. It got me all excited that thiere was going to be a War Games match or thier match with the Skyscapers but to no avail. Solid Thumbs Up though to anyone who likes classic wrestling

They did have a decent tag title match with Owen and the Bulldog at the April In Your House though. And up until they won the titles in October, did nothing else of note. They promptly lost the belts in December to the NAO.
benoit4hor 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2005 It would have been nice to get the match against the Steiners on Nitro. And a nice tribute would have been the 60 minute(I could be wrong on the time) Hawk vs Flair match.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 Wow! The main feature was really good. But I swear the Wrestlefest match with the Harts is clipped. I remeber renting it awhile back and I could have sworn it was longer. All in all a worthwhile buy.
reign 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 I enjoyed the DVD but all of this revisionist history(that's what it feels like) is getting old....I thought what happened in '97 was cool but I guess they didn't want to show too much of the NAO...the ten man tag at Canadian Stampede was awesome but better suited for Bret's DVD...that being said the old school Road Warriors looked so freakin' stacked that they made the jobbers and even the non-jobbers look like out-of-shape plumbers out there! UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 I bought this. Thus far I've watched the main feature (which is decent...but too repetitive/boring/depressing at the middle/end). The Original ME/Warriors Scaffold Match is absolutely awful. I loved seeing Nastys/LOD again, just for the memories. Still gotta lot to watch. $21.99 - 5.00 rebate at FYE. Guest Super Leather Report post Posted June 15, 2005 The Original ME/Warriors Scaffold Match is absolutely awful. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is a pretty awful match and you pretty much know who's going to win regardless, but Cornette's little tumble makes it almost seem worth watching once. Picked this up at Best Buy yesterday, along with the Hall of Fame DVD and the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the '80s DVD. I've breezed through a few matches and promos so far, but not the main features on any of them.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 Here's some stupidity: "And then, the LOD made their return to WWE..." WrestleMania 14, March 1998 "It's the LOD! And Sunny! A new look, a new attitude! They are back!" Meanwhile on the extras... LOD win their 2nd WWF Tag Title months before in late '97... Odd. They should've shown the LOD returning at the Manhattan Center, then working the brutal "Chicago Street Fight" at Mania 13. Makes no sense why they didn't. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 WWF Challange vs Demolition Just for clarification, is this the LOD Vs. Smash & Crush match from Supertape 3? But I swear the Wrestlefest match with the Harts is clipped. I remeber renting it awhile back and I could have sworn it was longer. Cawthon has it timed at 12:21, so if its below the 12 minute mark, then yeah its clipped.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 WWF Challange vs Demolition Just for clarification, is this the LOD Vs. Smash & Crush match from Supertape 3? ------------------------------------------------ Haven't picked up the dvd yet, but if it's a 3-minute match w/ interference from Fuji to cause the DQ, it's from Challenge and not Supertape 3. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 The match Vs. Demolition on "The Road Warriors" DVD lasts 4:21 officially bell-to-finish, with The LOD defeating Crush & Smash by DQ after Fuji interferes. From 02/09/91 WWF Wrestling Challenge. Heenan & Monsoon commentary.
