Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Tuesdays are a strange day to hold a draft. Then again, I never paid much attention to them until this year, for obvious reasons.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 The Bulls have nothing? How did Phoenix acquire Chicago's first round pick? I must have missed something.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 They acquired it in a trade last year that involved the 7th pick going to Chicago (They used it on Luol Deng).
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Well that, I can live with.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 I am hoping that Fran Vazquez falls enough for phoenix to scoop him. After his shitty workouts, he has fell out of the first round on most mock drafts.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 This will be a lot less fun on ESPN. No Sir Charles, no interest from me. I'll check the list in the morning instead.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Agreed, without Sir Charles making fun of Craig Sager it does lack a little bit. The Jazz officially have the #3 pick now, and it sounds like they gave up #6 & #27 and a future first round pick. I'm glad they didn't have to give up Kirk Snyder like it was rumored last night. I love Chris Paul, but I think Deron Williams is better in Utah's half-court offense. Its amazing how this trade doesn't happen if both Milwaukee & Portland don't leap-frog the Jazz, but I would rather them make the trade because neither would have been there at #6 overall. Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Anybody think that Atlanta should take Deron Williams or Chris Paul? Since they would have to get Josh Smith, Al Harrington, & Josh Childress into the lineup with Marvin Williams too. I understand not wanting to miss out on the "next big thing", but when coaches have average tenures of 2 years and GM about 4 years I sometimes you have to figure out what can make your team better now. But then again coaches are getting fired even after they take teams to the playoffs too.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Yeah, I'd have considered trading down a spot or two if I was ATL, because Deron is definitely a better immediate fit than Marvin. If they get Marvin they'll need to trade Childress or Josh Smith for a PG post haste....I hear Jason Williams is available....Dan Dickau is a free agent....or maybe overspend a bit on a guy like Antonio Daniels. I think it's a moot point though, because my gut says Milwaukee feels the pressure and takes Marvin Williams. If I were Utah I don't know who I'd pick. Probably Deron, but you can't go wrong with either PG. I'm psyched for this draft, so much depth and so many guys who could go almost anywhere in the first round. This is gonna be a good one. CHANNING FRYE HERE WE COME!
Guest Report post Posted June 28, 2005 At this point, I don't even know who I want the Lakers to pick.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 28, 2005 I'd be really excited for the Lakers to take Sean May, but hey Kupchak said that he wasn't looking for an impact player with the 10th pick, and seeing as how this draft is real deep with guards, they'll probably look for help in the backcourt rather than up front. Guest Report post Posted June 28, 2005 I just know what players I don't want them to take. McCants......
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Well, it's official...
Guest Mosaicv2 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Well... thanks a lot ESPN for making this the most predictable #1 first-round pick ever.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Yeah, much more predictable than Yao or LeBron M-Will off the board.....now it gets interesting....
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Not watching, but I'm assuming they mentioned that this is the first time that the NBA and NFL top picks have been from the same school in the same year.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Thank you Utah for making the trade, a PG was desparately needed. I think the Lakers should take Ike Diogu or Joey Graham.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Not watching, but I'm assuming they mentioned that this is the first time that the NBA and NFL top picks have been from the same school in the same year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure if they did. Is that really true? No surprises yet.....
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Granger or Gerald Green at #5 to Charlotte?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 28, 2005 Good lord. Point guards a plenty!
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 Portland gets Gerald Green if they want him, and John Nash looks like a genius
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 I'm a little late, I kind of spaced on the starting time (7 Eastern is 6 Indiana from April-October). The draft post is updated.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 Oh snap, Bilas just dropped the DALE ELLIS on Webster!
Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 Who does Toronto go with Granger, Vanquez, I'll throw in Antoine Wright since Dick is having an orgasm about him? They took a center last year, so I assume they'll go with a 2 or 3 guy.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 The Rap-TOORS?!! VILLANEUAVA?!!?! Shocking to them, and shocking to me. I didn't think he'd be in the lottery. Knicks on the clock, WHEEEEEEEEE!
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 Yikes. They must have really wanted him. Thought Toronto could have grabbed him pretty easily with their #16 pick.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 29, 2005 So here's where the Knicks take Channing Frye. If they don't, I'd like to see L.A. take him or May. Bynum is also a big possibility, since he was projected to go to one of these other teams, and I remember him being rumored to be taken if he was available. Bored 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2005 YES! Granger is right there for the Warriors now. God damnit.
