Great spots from Wrestling Video Games

I tried to see if I could do a Tree of Woe/Van Terminator on No Mercy. The only move I could reach the opponent with while they were in the Woe was the moonsault press. Looked pretty damn cool.

Fire Pro Wrestling D for the Dreamcast. Yoshinari Ogawa (CPU) vs. my CAW (Me), who is basically a Vader clone with even more critical causing moves. It was during the "Try to Critical All the Lightweights with this Heavyweight" storyline where my CAW was bullying all the lightweights. Match starts, feeling out process occurs with random strikes and B-button moves, nothing to special. Around the 34-second mark, they lock up, Ogawa goes for the small package... CRITICAL! It sure ended that storyline.

Fire Pro Wrestling for the Gameboy Advance. Rey Misterio (CPU) vs. Lex Luger (Me) in a Gruesome (UFC Style) Match, both being the templates the game created. Just a random match with Rey getting the best of Luger thanks to his speed. Luger finally catches up to him and punishes him with slams and suplexes. Throughout the match, Rey has been trying to go for pins which doesn't work in Gruesome matches. He would do the same thing: Front facelock, elbow, Luger on floor face-first, La Magistral and each time, Luger would kick out because pins do not work. Around the 3-minute mark or so, Luger has been dominating for a minute, Rey tries for the pin attempt again, for some reason. Front facelock, elbow, Luger on the ground, La Magistral... CRITICAL! Luger kicks out, gets to his feet, but is stunned. Rey simply kicks him and the ref determines that Luger is unfit to wrestle.

Oh, and bump.

I was playing Smackdown vs. Raw the other night, and had a war between Eddie and Rey in a Hell in a Cell match.

I was Eddie and played the dominating heel, and I had also changed some of his moveset to accomidate the new heel Eddie.

I tryed to have as close to a real match as you can in this game, dominating to start as the heel, but giving Rey some hope and brief comebacks before cutting him off. I focused on his back and neck and pretty much destroyed it in the first 8 minutes or so of the match, in which we didn't even leave the ring. I used mostly quick and submission grapples, saving my signature and power moves for the final stretch of the match. Every once in awhile Rey would try to sneak in a flash 'rana or pin, but I'd quickly kick out and destroy him again.

Around the eight and half minute mark he tried climbing to the top rope, and I knocked him off to the outside. By this time his head and upperbody are orange and only my head is yellow. I rake his face across the cell, drawing blood for the first time in the match. I then ram his head into the turnbuckle post and throw him back-first into the steel cell. I continue beating on him between the ring and the cell, before I decide it's time to go outside the cell.

I break the door down and wait outside the cell as Rey gets to his feet. His upper body is now light red while his head is complete red. I give him a suplex on the outside and then lock him in the Texas Cloverleaf (I replaced the Lasso with this) on the outside. I break it however, feeling the damage isn't done. I throw him into the barricade and then lift him up and slam him down across it, chest-first. An "Eddie Sucks!" chant then breaks out, which I acknowledge with a brief taunt, only to be nailed with a spinning heel kick from Rey! He goes to pick me up, but I counter with a low-blow, and he's out again.

I make my way over to the announce table, as Rey slowly follows. I pick up the steel chair and charge at him, only to be met with a dropkick! He then picks up the chair himself and starts beating me with it until it disappears. My upper body and arms are now in yellow and my head is orange. I fight back and eventually give him a vicious back suplex on the floor, before picking up the sledgehammer. I destroy him with it, and it's a wonder he's still moving.

I then climb onto the Spanish announce table and procede to give Rey a brainbuster right through the table! I then climb onto the other table and jump off with a frogsplash onto his helpless body! 1...2...but I let him up! I taunt some more, just to piss the fans off. I then quickly climb to the top of the cell and continue my taunting.

After what seems like ages, Rey eventually climbs to the top of the cell as well. We've now reached the 15 minute mark of the match and I'm having a blast. I suplex him on the top of the cell and lock in another Texas Cloverleaf. Once again, I don't force the tap out, and instead go to pick him up, but he elbows me in the gut and dropkicks me and I go flying off the cell!

Eddie is now completely orange from the waist up. I climb back up the cell and Rey hits me with a body scissors into a DDT on top of the cell and follows with a flying forearm and tries a spinning heel kick, but instead goes flying off the cell! Once again, I taunt, just to be a dick.

By now, I pretty much have the finish planned in my head, and wait for him to climb back up. Once he does, I quickly grab him and suplex him on the cell, denting the top. I follow with a brainbuster, and we both go crashing through the cell to the mat below! I pick Rey up and give him the MDK powerbomb! 1...2...and I let him up again! I climb to the top and deliver a perfect frogsplash! 1...2...and guess who let's up again. I start taunting, waiting for Rey to get up. He finally does, and I let him kick me in the gut, and he hits the 619! He follows with the West Coast Pop and he wins the match after 22 mintues of action.

That's the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time...

That sounds awesome! Rey no-sold death like HHH coming back from being dropped in a car 50 feet.

I just had a 60:00 minute war against my friend in HCTP. I was Stone Cold Steve Austin, he was Catcus Jack and it was a hardocre match. We went through the areas for the first couple of minutes, and it was back-and-fourth with some good spots (throwing Jack off the truck, and throwing him onto a car. We did this for 15 minutes, but then the fun started. I hit him with three Stunners, but yet nothing. He hits me with a version of the Cactus Crack Smash, and we just brutalizd each-other. Both men bled, and I hit him with a chair 16 times, and nailed six Stunners in total, but he kicked out. He nailed me with three Double Armed DDT's, and after two straight Stunners, and six chair shots: I beat him.

It was a Battle Royal with X-Pac (me) vs. Nash vs. Hiroshi Hase vs. some random shoot fighter.

Shockingly, the shoot fighter got eliminated first. The cool spot in the match was when I pinned Nash with a backslide. Immediately right after, I got a Critical on Hase when I hit him with the X-Factor. I never play as X-Pac so I didn't expect something like that to happen.

Just played a Ladder Match in the Season of SmackDown vs. Raw between Corey Lazarus (CAW, me) and Shawn Michaels (CPU).

LEAD-UP:

Three weeks before Unforgiven, HBK and Laz have a match for the World Heavyweight title, and HHH is the special guest ref. Laz wins, but Bischoff reverses the decision because he found out HHH knocked the ref out backstage, restarts the match with himself as ref, and HBK school-boy's Laz for the win.

The next week it's Laz vs. HHH vs. HBK, and Laz and HBK are both touting World Heavyweight titles. Laz goes over HHH (I always love it when I beat HHH) with an Enziguri (one of his SmackDown's, and I believe it's official name is Enziguri 04 or something similar) after kicking HBK to the outside.

Next week (week before Unforgiven), it's HBK vs. Laz in a Last Man Standing match. Match is decent, but it's ALL Laz as he's just hitting HBK with absolutely everything. Two table bumps to HBK, and then Laz sets up a table on the outside, puts HBK on it, and hits a topé over the top onto HBK, putting him through the table. Count stops at 9 so HHH can run-in, and that sets up the Ladder Match at Unforgiven as Bischoff is sick of not having one champion.

Match is pretty good for the first 5 minutes but, again, it's all Laz. Taking HBK down with dragon screw's and various armbars and such to wear him down, and then HBK hits a running superkick and gets the ladder. BIG IMPACT MOVES GALORE. HBK does some standard shit (snap suplex, the three-punch combo he has, diving forearm, etc.), but Laz fires back with a few Shining Wizard's (I have, like, four of 'em in Laz's arsenal), roundhouse kicks, and a couple German's. Laz goes for the belt but HBK pulls him down, and it's back-and-forth for the next 10 minutes.

Around the 20 minute mark or so, HBK hits his 6th Sweet Chin Music on Laz, but Laz gets up before HBK can get to the belt. Laz nails his 8th Enziguri on HBK, but HBK gets up onto the ladder just as Laz is about to reach for the belt and hiptosses him off. Laz has one SmackDown, HBK is about to get another one, and he's on a babyface "clean" comeback. Laz whips him into the corner so that HBK's back is turned, and BAM! SmackDown #2 is hit: BURNING HAMMAH~!!~!!~ Michaels is DEAD. Laz climbs up, gets the belt, and hurrah.

I just loved the match because it's probably the best SDvR match I've had to date.

A fave of mine from SD! vs. RAW:

Me (Tajiri) and my cousin (I believe he was Batista) were playing a 4 way HIAC with Edge and Rhyno. We all started out with specials, and during the match, I got in a sucker punch on Edge, momentarily stunning him, and allowing Rhyno (out of camera view) to come in and Gore THE FUCK out of him. Me and my cousin went apeshit over seeing that.

I had a markout moment tonight on Smackdown vs. Raw.

I hadn't played this game in a while, so I popped it in. First match of the night I did 3 Stages of Hell - Christian (me) vs. HBK.

First match is a Hardcore match. We go back and forth, blow for blow, very fun, competitive match with most trademark spots being hit. I've built up all my finishers, so I knock HBK, give him one Unprettier. Do the Christian chest tap, do a second Unprettier. Do the taunt again, pick him up for number three, I get knocked in the head, Sweet Chin Music! HBK takes the first fall out of nowhere. That would've been cool enough, but it keeps going.

Round two is a ladder match. Same thing, very back and forth until the very end where Christian barely snatches a win before HBK can grab him. This leads to the finale.

It's tied 1-1. Both men tie up and are brawling. Starts in the ring, goes along the cage, on the ringside, on the tables. Christian knocks down HBK and climbs up the cage, they brawl on top of the cage. Christian hits HBK, HBK stumbles near the edge. Christian is blocked, HBK punches him. HBK goes for another punch, block, HBK is stunned, Christian hits HBK with Sweet Chin Music OFF THE CELL! Christian climbs down and pins HBK I think in a fitting way to end the match. Back and forth and out of desparation, Christian hits HBK with HIS OWN MOVE, off the top of the cell to win! I hadn't seen any finisher successfully go well off the cage, so this was total markout for me... especially after the matches already.

Quickest match ever that I remembered.

I was my CAW and made Road Dogg submit via sleeper hold in 18 seconds for the Intercontinental Belt.

4-way Hell in a Cell

Angle and Cena are fighting in the ring, Me and Shelton Benjamin are on top. Benjamin goes for the superkick. I catch his leg and trap suplex him thru the cage, knocking down both Cena and Angle.

Not really funny, just kind of odd. In Fire Pro D, I was playing as Kobashi against Tamon Honda I think it was. I ended up hitting a burning hammer on the floor, which Honda just no sold like a king. The Fire Pro games have lots of moments like this, just due to the way the system works. If you hit a bunch of moves in a row, after 2 or 3, the guy just no-sells the last one. I guess it's for game balance so one guy can't completely dominate once he goes on a string of moves.

HCTP

Tiger Mask (Sotoro Sayama, me) vs. Ric Flair (CAW of him in his prime, friend)

Ladder Match

For some reason, these two seem to have really good matches against each other. Awesome back and forth action that goes ten minutes before Flair even brings in the ladder, at which point we go back to countering and laying out submission moves. I start getting the upperhand with a powerful kicks, but Flair turns it around with a low-blow. He takes off a turn-buckle cushion and irish whips me into it. He sets up a ladder and stalls for a minutes, like in a real ladder match, as I'm helpless. At this point, my abdomen's red with my head orange, as is Flair, and we both have a Smackdown! icon. He climbs up the ladder at starts jumping up for the title, but the ladders placed in such a way that it's out of his reach. He debates jumping for it for a few seconds, then I come out of the turnbuckle and climb up it, and we start unloading punches on each other. I imagine the crowd popping for my comeback, as Jim Ross starts yelling about he's never seen anything like this. A few moments later, Flair slumps down on the ladder, and I grapple for him.

I hip-toss both of us off and out of the ring in a moment that just seemed a lot more special then it ought to have been. We both lay down for a couple of seconds, then I get to my feet and slide back into the ring, Flair looking unconscious. I throw down the ladder and set it up about mid-way between the center of the ring and the outside, and I act like I'm about to go for the title, when I notice Flair's still looking knocked out. I ride the lightning and unleash the fucking fury with my Smackdown! Special: Diving Headbutt 2. As you can imagine, Flair doesn't get up after this, and I grab the title. It was probably the best ladder match I've had in the game that wasn't a total spot-fest.

(btw, Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006 better have a mask for me to make a Tiger Mask CAW without it looking horrible)

TLC Match - Matt Hardy (me) vs Jeff Hardy (CAW, gimp 2nd controller), Smackdown vs RAW

This was the match where I discovered how to superplex off the ladder. I had a table set up outside the ring from a previous attempt (Side Effect off the announcer's table onto the normal table), the ladder was just off the center of the ring. Superplexed Jeff off the ladder, over the ropes, outside the ring, onto the table... which didn't break. Jeff just bounced off it. One of the sickest spots I have ever seen in that game.

This just happened.

I'm playing my Samoa Joe CAW against Taker backstage. We're on top of the cage, with Taker near the ledge. I run at him and do a go behind and hit the overhead release german suplex, and marked out as I watched Taker fly over the edge and land on the back on his head, about 12 feet down. It should be something of a KO, but it was still cool to see.

EDIT: And I got the three count off of it. Fucking sweet.

Myself, as a Jushin Lyger CAW vs. Billy Gunn (Smackdown 2)

My most horrible moment in wrestling video game history as, while fighting in WWE New York, Billy Gunn gave me a piledriver on a table OUT OF NOWHERE after taking sick punishment the entire match --- and pinned me.

Yeah, you read that right, kids...Billy d. Jushin.

For some reason, Billy Gunn was always one of the harder pieces of shit to beat out of the midcard guys. I could whoop everybody up and down over and over but I think he is the only CPU wrestler to hold more than one win over me. (He beat me twice, the other being a fucking flash roll-up in a triple threat). I've beaten him a ton in retaliation, but those two fucking wins....just piss me off.

Cool story. Out of curiosity, what move did you use for Burning Hammer? I can't imagine Clothelines From Hell 02 since it's an auto-pin one, so just a standard clothesline?

When I hear Burning Hammer, my first image is of a Lariat From Hell. Then I remember it's an actual move.

HIAC, CM Punk (CAW) vs Mankind, SvR. Irish whipped Mankind to the edge of the cell, waited for him to finish with the off-balance animation, run up behind him and hit the snapmare takedown - off the edge of the cell. HIAC matches make for great bumps.

Just had a nice 12-minute match between my newest CAW, Jesse White, and a CAW I made of The Amazing Red.

So the match starts and White's a power-based wrestler, so I'm just clotheslining and tossing the fuck out of Red. Head and body are in yellow in, like, a minute in. I go for a spinebuster, and Red turns it into a DDT.

A lot of back-and-forth follows with Red using his speed a whole lot, and he knocks me (White) down and starts doing one of the kung-fu taunts I gave him (it's pretty long). I get up, and I have a SmackDown ready, so I nail it as I'm running...CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL~! Red goes down...but his foot's on the ropes so it's a rope break.

More back-and-forth under the same formula, and then I get a pair of SmackDown's. Red nails the West Coast Pop on me (what I gave him for a finish), but since Red's in the red (haha, no pun intended) and White's body is in orange and head's in the yellow, I kick out at 2. Clothesline, whip to the ropes, running back elbow, pick Red up, Powerbomb 05 (running AwesomeBomb), and then White goes up top. ELBOW DROP~!

White pulls Red up at 2, and then lifts him up. Whip to the ropes, White charges, CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL!! White picks Red up at 2, breaking the count, and then boots him in the gut for his other SmackDown: Powerbomb 9 (an over-the-shoulder powerbomb pin that has the receiver landing pretty much on their head). 1-2-3, done.

I just thought it was cool that Red was winning the match for a good portion until I did enough tosses and clotheslines to get two SmackDown's up, and then finished him off with one right after the other. Made for a cool visual.

Just happened on Fire Pro A 2. My Chuck Liddell edit versus the comp's Tito Ortiz in a gruesome match. Fight starts and Tito keeps his distance for a while as I try to get closer to him. I walk to the far side of the ring which causes him to taunt. I get close fast, throw my a+b punch and I critical him in one attack.

Played with my Cliff Young CAW (another e-wrestler I use), and I gave him a powerbomb (I think Powerbomb 6 or 7, I'm not sure, but it's a running release powerbomb). Cliff Young vs. Eddie Guerrero in Season Mode.

Eddie's back is to the ropes, toe kick, power grapple, the powerbomb. I'm expecting it to be like every other powerbomb where the animation just has Cliff magically placed back near the center of the ring as Eddie crashes to the mat. Uh-uh. Eddie goes OVER THE TOP ROPE and lands on the outside. I paused the game, went "holy shit," and then Eddie got back into the ring. Tried it again, thinking maybe it's just a glitch. EDDIE IS POWERBOMBED OVER THE TOP ROPE AGAIN!

So I set up a table in my next match, one against Chavo which was, I do believe, your standard season match, so it's no DQ. But it's at a PPV, so there's a table under the ring (since during the normal Raw/SmackDown shows, there's just a chair where the table should be under the ring). I set up the table VERY close to the ring, get Chavo in position, powerbomb him over...but he lands on the table without it breaking. Only downside to the spot, because it otherwise would've been SICK.

I'm going to try to play a game with my buddy Chris and use that spot (table set up, powerbomb them over onto it) in a 3way with him on the outside. Have him get up on the table, grab the guy, and then put him through it or something. I dunno.
