Insanity 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 New RE movie trailer. http://www.destructoid.com/resident-evil-e...ler-29970.phtml I shall call it Mad Maxine: Beyond Chunderdome. Paul W.S. Anderson (written by) Milla Jovovich ... Alice Absolute shittiness confirmed. The first Resident Evil is possibly the worst film I've ever watched. Not sure, it's against contenders Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Men in Black 2. In any case, I sat through the second one like a dumbass but it wasn't as painful. Maybe I lowered my standards to a level unheard of when I saw it. In any case, I'll avoid this.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 I haven't seen the first RE, but I saw Apocalypse in the theater and I really liked it due to its similarities to the games.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 http://www.screwattack.com/ -- on the main page there is a fan-submitted tribute video to Shantae, a little-known Game Boy Color game of the non-linear platformer/action/RPG variety. Lame jokes aside, it's a really good game. Kind of like if Castlevania 2/Zelda 2 were more fun instead of being flat out annoying like they are.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 Silent Hill is a superior video game movie. I don't know about that. At least Resident Evil provides some unintentional laughs. Specifically, the "run up the wall and roundhouse kick a dog in the face" has the theater howling. Silent Hill wasn't especially creepy and had no comedic value. BUTT 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I want to go back to the early Super Famicom pics I posted earlier in this thread to show you this prototype picture of the SNES controller: Anyone else think this red-button look would have been much better than the purple buttons they eventually used in the American version of the system? I think the system would have looked better if they went with the same red/black/gray color scheme they used for the original NES.
Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 The purple went with the system better. The red buttons just sort of....stand out too much? I dunno. The NES controller had a lot of black so the red buttons looked good (mine has fluorescent yellow buttons with an orange control pad; yay for modifications!); the SNES was that...light greyish color. The red stands out too much for me, the purple looked good. They also did a study that showed that the Japanese weren't looking at the color codes to see which button was which, they were using feel; hence why the X and Y are concave while A & B are newly convex. Invictus 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I hope you can ride on the back of one of your gang members, and do piggy-back walk-bys! Whoa, whoa, don't get ahead of yourself here. They can save that for at least the 3rd version of Grand Theft Auto IV they end up releasing.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 They should show some creativity and completely change the gameplay instead of releasing the exact same game over and over!!!
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 Um....why? What's wrong with it basically being the same game every time? They found a system that people like, so they're sticking with it, and just adding to it as they release new games. Worked for Mega Man. And Tony Hawk. -DeN- 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 If I can keep finding the godamn boomerang in the first dungeon of every Zelda game and not get all cynical about it, something tells me I'll be fine with doing all the GTA shit again in IV.
Invictus 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I'll wait until I see the trailer to bash it anymore, but frankly I think GTA has it coming. They released about 5 games (6 if you include Bully) that were the exact same damn game, basically, within the span of one generation. The same problems, the same basic gameplay, with slight changes (Now with motorcycles! And swimming!), but they never fix any of the fundamental flaws of the series or do one thing particularly well. Jack of all trades, master of none.

World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I'll wait until I see the trailer to bash it anymore, but frankly I think GTA has it coming. See, it's hard to take this seriously when you're in love with the new Zelda game when it's really not much different from OoT. It's also a problem that the opinion "all of the GTA games are exactly the same" is incorrect. If you want to criticise it for not making huge leaps with each successive game, I have thousands of other games that didn't really differ from their predecessors a whole lot. The basic gameplay of any genre generally does not change much from game to game. There are other more important differences that set the games apart. Invictus 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I also didn't play half-a-dozen Zelda games in the past 5 years. If they staggered their releases more I wouldn't have as much animosity towards the series, and they would actually seem special when they were released. Instead they shove out half-baked sequels into the world every year or so and it gets stale fast. Plenty of series', as you've said, have done the same thing. And plenty of series have over-sequeled themselves into irrelevance.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 If they can make them that fast, why not? They sell well and get near, if not universal praise from game critics. You're also underselling the effect that changing the setting can have on the game. I don't know about others, but the big hook to the GTA series for me is wandering around the city exploring and doing random crap. It also keeps the quests fresh, even though they've basically recycled the quest types from game to game. Given that the cities in GTA3/VC/SA are quite different, I'd say that makes them viable games in their own right. GTA3/VC/SA are no more the exact same game than Morrowind and Oblivion are. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 I played GTA 3 after having already beaten San Andreas and then Vice City...while the premise is the same, you can certainly see MAJOR differences...calling them the same game rehashed over and over is absurd. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 It looks like that revamped NES Nintendo was selling at the end of NES era. http://www.emulationgalaxy.co.yu/images/sy...s/NES_NES_2.jpg The SNES also got a revision, too: http://www.silicium.org/images/catalog/con...1_gros_plan.jpg However, much like pretty much any post-1994 SNES (and maybe earlier), it doesn't work with game genie.
