I don't know what's sadder; the fact that Boll keeps getting work or the fact that Ron Perlman would sign on for this crap.

Whats really weird: Boll wants it to be a 3-hour film.

As for Perlman, I think he's one of the most underrated actors on Earth. See "City of Lost Children" for an example. Also, he's awesome as Slade on "Teen Titans" IMO. (even though this season has been mostly diappointing, it's great to see him back)

Has this fucker made a SINGLE movie not based off of a fucking video game?

ENOUGH WITH THE OBSCURE VIDEO GAME MOVIES ALREADY!

He also is developing movies based on video games "Far Cry," "Hunter: The Reckoning" and "Fear Effect."

The 3 hour part is what makes it so hilarious. I haven't seen a Boll film and frankly the reviews I've read have steered me clear....I can't imagine anyone wanting to see 3 hours of this guy's work.

Has anyone seen/heard in reviews how Bloodrayne was? Almost scared to ask....

I predict this next Boll film will bomb something awful. Thats a wacky ass lineup of actors/actresses in it too.

Yes, although not theatrically released.

He made Heart of America, a movie about a school shooting, between HOTD and Alone In The Dark. It's flawed, as it takes a simplistic outlook on things, but it's better than those two.

He also did Blackwoods and Sanctimony (with Casper Van Dien). I've yet to see those two, but I will eventually.

Yeah, saw a review or two a while back. The verdict is--i's awful, and the sun will rise in the morning.

But, it's going to probably be hilarious, so I'm going. the Loken sex scene won't hurt, either.

Perlman probably doesn't feel he "stooped to" this. He's always mentioned about his roles that he likes acting, but it's a job. He's never going to be the lead in any big-budget hits other than the Hellboy series. However, as long as Hollywood needs a big, freakishly ugly guy who can act well, he's going to get plenty of work.

I don't know/think Loken can act well, since she'd been a model primarily before T3, but Hollywood's apparent bias against tall women hurts her (she's 5'11"). Uma's one of the rare exceptions that gets plenty of varied roles.

The article says Statham was in Collateral, but I don't remember seeing him in it.

He only made a cameo appearance.

The Statham cameo appearence lasted a whole 10 seconds.

Hollywood's apparent bias against tall women hurts her (she's 5'11").

Thats because alot of the "big" action stars are under 6 feet and are around 5'7".

From a Wikipedia article about him

Boll essentially is a modern-day B-movie director. He's able to secure the investors (mostly German, in Hollywood often derisively referred to as "stupid German money"), secure the rights for cheap, picking games with only moderate brand recognition, does all of the actual production himself, and swiftly cranks out a film. While under normal circumstances a director's movies could gross so little he's eventually shut out from every operating studio, Boll is exempt because he funds them under a loophole in German tax law that is supported by contributors and actually rewards films that perform badly, via a writeoff at the end of the year

So basically, part of it's Germany's fault.

If Boll makes another movie adaptation of a video game, I'm going to have to bring the nailbat to his head. That said, I'll be keeping my schedule fairly open for the next year and a half.

Jesus, Fear eddect was a RE/Out of this World knockoff. The first one got some hyped, and bombed, the second one tried to get people to buy it with pseudo lesbian content. A Parappa or ICO or Gitaroo Man or Gunstar Heroes or.... Wait a sec, I don't want that ducker to mess with games I LIKE. I was going to say that the Resident Evil movie was vaguely watchable mostly because of the cameo by Milla Jovovich's genitals, but he didn't even direct that.

House of the Dead was so bad, it wasn't even watchable. And I'll watch ANYTHING.

Wait, Fear Effect? That is not even possible to make a movie of. Same goes for BloodRayne, really. Why are these games at all popular in their respective fandoms?

. . . Okay, T&A factor aside. . .

Because of the interactivity. With BloodRayne, its all about the semi-erotic violence. (Semi-erotic referencing all the innuendo, ie, Rayne groping a chick whilst feeding). No movie adaption could compare to the amazing blade and fang action one can do.

As for Fear Effect, well, I liked the game for its vocal acting, humor, anime-esque sequences, and the great story. The lesbian aspect, though certainly cheeky at times, did seem realistic, in terms of the characters themselves. (Of course, how realistic one can get given the typical vidoe-game-female model and such one can logically argue later)

By the by, did they not release a Fear Effect for the PS2? I read previews of it but that is all.

You should rent "Alone in the Dark" for his commentary alone. He basically insults you for hating his movies. It's hilarious really.
