MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Wang is out indefinitely. Yankees have two healthy starters...
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 "ESPN's Peter Gammons has learned that George Steinbrenner has sold the rights of the AAA Columbus Clippers, two World Series rings, and Gary Sheffield's pomposity to the Marlins for pitcher A.J. Burnett." Looks like they're going to nab Shawn Chacon from Colorado. Getting pitching from the Rockies is a crapshoot considering the conditions there, so we'll see. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 This Randy Johnson/Mike Mussina rotation should be interesting. We need AJ Burnett now more than ever.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Hey, Randy went on three days a week or so ago and was effective, so why not try one day rest?
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Right now, there really is no other way. Maybe he can Arizona Diamondback it.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 This Randy Johnson/Mike Mussina rotation should be interesting. We need AJ Burnett now more than ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No we dont need another Marlins pitcher, look how good Pavano turned out to be. But Yikes wang out, just great. Perfect timing too. But theyll be no sympathy here as hatred runs deep in non-NY fans. We'll really see what they're made of now.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 AJ Burnett is different. He's had more than one good year, and each year he's improved his control. He's also a strikeout pitcher, so he won't have to depend on the Yankee defense.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 But Yikes wang out, just great. Perfect timing too. But theyll be no sympathy here as hatred runs deep in non-NY fans. Oh, woe is you. We know full well that if Schilling, Clement and Arroyo were all out, you guys wouldn't be saying "Buck up guys, things will be all right!"
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 You guys have like 8 starters though. Wakefield, Wells, Miller, somebody.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Marlins to potentially release Al Leiter and call up Jason Vargas I don't think paper requires registration. Holy crap. Wasn't expecting that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So does this mean Leiter moves from the bullpen to the booth as he was supposed to for next year? Or is he just out of the Marlins organization completely? Because he was great in the booth last October.

We know full well that if Schilling, Clement and Arroyo were all out, you guys wouldn't be saying "Buck up guys, things will be all right!" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uh thats the point I was making. I was telling the other Yankee fans not to complain too much cuz no one wanted to hear it. And besides, no I wouldn't be saying "buck up" to you, because I actually do have some class. You must be confusing me with someone else.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I'd love to see Leiter in the booth during the playoffs again. The less Tim McCarver has to offer his "insight" the better, I say.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I'd like to get another chance to listen to Al's reaction to McCarver saying that a walk is just as bad as a home run right now.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I'd like to see the Cubs hire Leiter. He has nothing to do with the Cubs organization, but neither does Bob Brenly, and that guy's running his mouth.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 The Orioles need to just do what they need to do to get ths deal done for AJ Burnett. Seriously, he is likely going to be the difference between whether the Orioles have a legitimate run in the postseason this year or miss it altogether. I'd really say that it doesn't matter whether they deal Cabrera or Penn at this point, because if they keep Burnett in Baltimore, (which they should be able to, Angelos is capable of spending more than the middling payroll they have right now,) he'll be better than either one of them for the next six or seven years. By the time that Burnett's too old to be a top-level starter, not only do we have no idea how the two of them will have developed, we have no idea where either one of them will be pitching. It could be anywhere from Yankee stadium to their own backyards after blowing out their arms.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Jesus Christ, if Sean Henn gets brought up again...... And what the fuck is Jaret Wright's problem??! GET HEALTHY YOU FUCK! Jon Lieber has shit the bed ever since the first month but I'd STILL rather have him than someone who DOESN'T PLAY. Looks like we need to pick up Al Leiter now. Fuck. I wonder if the Royals will trade Jose Lima....
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I've also heard a trade for El Duque. We're probably getting El Duque and/or Al Leiter.

Wang will be a bad loss, and I can't believe I'm saying that. Wright isn't even on the map, as far as I can see. Big series starting tonight.
devo 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I'm actually very impressed with the TBS announce team. They're about as impartial a local team as I've ever seen, and they've made good points throughout the night about the All-Star Game "Counting" and the fascination with NYY/BOS among other things. Mik 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Even though he has sucked very badly this season, Mike Lowell actually has 25 doubles on the season, putting him near the top 5 in the entire NL. How odd.
devo 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Great game at Shea tonight. Beltran goes 4-4, Wright 2-3 with three runs, and Piazza hits a three-run homer in the eighth that wins it for the Mets. One down, three to go.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Schilling blows the save......the Red Sox bullpen is cursed!
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 They should have known better than to put Schilling in there against New York, where there's obviously a huge revenge factor. Are the BoSox brass and Schilling that arrogant to think he'd come in and NOT get knocked around?!? By all accounts his minor league rehab was going terrible.... YANKEES WIN! YANKEES WIN! 1&1/2 out, pending Baltimore's game. WE'RE TAKING THE DIVISION THIS WEEKEND!
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Schilling drops the ball and Mo shut's it down in Fenway. Something's changed.... And of course, Giambi's still EN FUEGO!!!!
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Ya this is automatic jinx but since MLB Extra Innings is having a free preview some of you may want to tune to the A's-Rangers game as Rich Harden has a perfect game thru the 6th.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 He didn't blow the save, it was 6-6. And it was also a dumb move to bring him into that situation, with those hitters due up, and expect big results in his first time out in a few months. KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Can't believe I agree with a Yankee fan for once. Schilling should NOT be a closer but more of a middle relief guy (say the 7th). He only really threw two bad pitches (which are magnified in relief) and his velocity wasn't all there. Taking the division? You really have that much confidence in the other two pitchers outside of Johnson?
