Dandy 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 While it would make sense from a big match standpoint to have Batista/Taker at SummerSlam, there is a reason they are not going to do it at this time. SummerSlam should have huge title matches since it is either the second or third biggest show of the year, but there is no way they chance Batista not getting a bigger pop than his opponent right now. Just because it's those two, a lot of the IWC will tack on 2 snowflakes automatically and work their way up from there. One of the reasons they don't want to do Batista/Taker yet is they can't control the crowd reactions because of the face vs face dynamic. With Batista still having legs as a champion, you don't want him in a position to where the audience won't want to see him win. It's called protecting your guys. Guest panthermatt7 Report post Posted July 20, 2005 The options for SummerSlam: Batista/Hassan & Orton/Taker - if Orton is healthy, it'd make sense to stick him on Taker for the big PPV rematch, as well as ride the brief wave of hysteria surrounding Hassan and finish his angle once and for all. Only problem with this particular finish is it makes Batista look weak and makes the champion second fiddle to the Taker/Orton issue a la HHH/Benoit Iron Man match from a year ago that made Benoit look secondary to HHH/Eugene's issue. They shouldn't have done Hassan/Taker as a number one contenders match, for sure. BUT...there aren't many guys they can push right into that title slot. Orton could do it, considering it seems he is going to be healthy by then and does have some beef with Batista, but then where does that leave Taker for Summerslam? Would he just not have a match? Would he face JBL? And if he would face him...why? Taker's character just seems to be in total "random heel attacking" limbo right now, and will probably stay that way until someone finally beats him at WM and he can retire. Sure, he still gets the pops, but unless he loses at Mania he really isn't losing cause it does next to NOTHING for the person that wins. Hassan isn't going to be any more over after GAB, partially because Orton is probably going to attack, and mostly because nobody is going to be treating Hassan any differently for defeating the Deadman. He'll come out and tout it, and they will say "ah, Randy Orton helped, blah blah blah." Also, Hassan should lose at Summerslam in under five minutes if he couldn't last for 3 in the ring with Cena on Raw. Batista should seriously just squash him down and maybe just destroy the Hassan character permenantly. It's worthless, no matter what kind of silly topical heat it gets. But what I'm really worried about is Benoit's condition. Has anyone heard anything?
