the max 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Gonchar signed with the Penguins <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, this saddens me too. They gave up a lot for Gonchar and didn't really get much in return, aside from a decent playoff series against Montreal.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Hold the phone on Modano, this just in... Mike Modano's agent says his client has rejected the latest contract offer from the Dallas Stars. "I informed the Stars of Mike's decision a few minutes ago," Brian Lawton told TSN. While it is still possible that Modano will return to Dallas, that possibility now seems remote, despite reports Tuesday night that we would be returning to the franchise. Lawton would not say which teams are still in the running for Modano's services, but NHL sources tell TSN that Boston and Chicago both have four year deals on the table worth in excess of $20 million. The Stars had offered Modano a five year deal worth $17.5 million.

the max 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 With the players moving to where they're moving, this almost feels like a fantasy draft.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Well, the Islanders finally got a decent name, signing Miroslav Satan.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 From what I read in the papers today, Danny Markov was swearing that if the NHLPA ratified the new CBA, he'd stay in Russia and never play in the NHL again. If this is true, I'd have to say that Clarke probably got as much as he could for him...

Gert T 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 I agree it does seem like a fantasy draft with all of the transactions. Sorry if this angers people by veering off-thread, but where are some good sites to pick up some NHL gear? (I won't forgive my parents for getting me a Eskimos hat instead of Oilers gear when they were in Edmonton!)
treble 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Damn. TSN just said that the Flyers signed Forsberg to a 2-year contract. They're over the cap now, though.
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE. All the effort I put into changing my sig and I have to do it again. Jk. But this is an another amazing pickup. I seriously had doubts about Kevin Lowe as a General Manager but they've been erased now. I'd love to see Lowe go after a goalie cause i'm not sure if Conklin can be a #
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 I thought right away that signing Hatcher to an outrageous contract would come back to hurt the Flyers, I just did not expect it to happen the next day.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 On TSNs website they are saying Clarke will make a trade to get under the cap, with Roenick being a likely candidate to move. Forsberg for Roenick is certainly an upgrade.

The B's better be using the cash differential to sign another big name or 3. And Forsberg managed to go to my 2nd most hated team to my first ... what happened to him either returning to Colorado or staying with MoDo?!?

Check the CP Style book please, Bob Barron or Scuba) I have little faith in the Leafs right now. Nor will I in the Habs, regardless of who they sign until Theodore is confirmed back. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 Except for the Rangers, who will still SUCK. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They signed Marek Malik... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For 2.5 million a year, no less. Sather's gone senile, I think. More news from overnight: - Modano ended up signing that deal with the Stars after all. 5 years, $17.25 million (although he probably won't make it to the end of that contract). - Avalanche signed Pierre Turgeon and Patrice Brisebois.
