Well..since TUF was somewhat popular, especially the finale, figured a thread should be started about this, as it's on now.

Showing some of the fights from Finale night that weren't shown.

What I probably loved most about the show, next to the main event, were the advertisements for Ultimate Fight Night and Boiling Point. They are really coming into their own with the production; I wonder how much of that is inhouse and how much of that is from SPIKETV. I like how they put Jeremy Horns record up there, and made him seem like a big threat.

His name is not Steve it is Stephan, think of the movie with Martin Short called "Clifford", and his dinosaurs name pronunced stef-in.

Not to argue the small stuff or anything, but many people who's name is spelled Stephen pronounce the PH as a V instead of F. That may not be the case here, but it's not a reach to shorten Stephen to Steve really.

The Unleashed shows are taped and feature fights from previous UFC cards. This one is designed to familiarize fans with Ivan Salaverry - a top prospect in the middleweight division. Those are two good matches, btw. The other 3 fights, much like the last Unleashed, are from the Ultimate Fighter Finale undercard.

Did'nt see any ads for it, still, not too shabby. As has already been said, nice KO from Swick.

These are all pre taped fights to familiarize the fans with the fighters featured on the August 6th show and 20th PPV. Ivan Salaverry is in the main event for the 6th TV show but otherwise has not really been pushed by the UFC, so it's a good idea to show two fights where he really showcases his skills to the UFC crowd. It's just too bad that they can't do the same with Nathan Marquart, as even I haven't seen much of him and while I'm not an expert, I'd like to think That I know more than the average fan. I'm gonna have to go out of my way to d/l some.

I really wish UFC would find a way to put more submissions into their little video packages, as opposed to purely strikes & the occasional slam. Then again, the UFC seems pretty intent on turning most of their fights into Toughman-esque brawls, so I guess it's to be expected.

They score it like boxing - a 10 point must system. Winner of the round gets 10, loser gets 9 or worse (8). Regular fights go 3 rounds, so in the case Georges St Pierre vs. Jason Miller where GSP won every round, the judges scored the fight 30-27, 30-27, 30-27. Usually an 8 happens through a major ass kicking (in boxing it usually when a fighter gets knocked down). Unlike boxing, judges score on not just striking, but control, aggression, defense, takedowns, submissions, and damage. UFC championship fights (Heavyweight, Lightheavyweight, Middleweight, and Welterweight) go 5 rounds. Also unlike boxing, each round goes 5 minutes, rather than 3.
