McCain 295, Obama 243

 

McCain will take PA, OH, IN, WV, VA, KY, NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, AR, MO, TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, MT, ID, WY, UT, CO, AZ, NV, AK.

 

Obama will take ME, MA, NH, VT, RI, NY, NJ, DE, MD, DC, CT, MI, IL, MN, WI, IA, OR, WA, CA, NM, and HI.

 

These are on the low end, IMHO, as there's a decent chance that McCain pulls what Reagan did in 1980 if people figure out early in the day that Barry isn't going to win. (Carter basically conceded early in the day to Reagan and it turned into a bloodbath at the electoral-vote level and in the Senate.)

I read that the polls that have the larger Obama leads are the ones that include polling people that don't have landline phones, and just have cell phones.

 

That's kind of interesting to me, because I don't have a landline...and most of my friends (ages 25 to 30ish) don't really either. That's got to be something that is more common in a younger voter who has an apartment and doesn't see the need for the landline. You figure Obama's winning the youth vote...and polls aren't reflecting a nice portion of that group.

In regards to the comment bout Gallup's two models, the "traditional" model i believe only takes into account people who've voted before, while expanded takes into account high turnout by new voters.

 

All i got to say is if Obama loses somehow, the polling industry is going to lose all credibility. They were generally accurate in 2004 (traditional polling, not exit polls). Most polls showed Bush with roughly a 2 pt lead (he won pop. vote by something like 2.4 or 2.6 percent)

The Pit is so funny. Almost every conservative there is convinced that there's NO WAY that McCain could lose. All those polls that show Barry in front? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IS A BIASED LIE. I expect optimism from them, but I don't think they've braced themselves for the possibility of their guy losing. So if Obama wins tomorrow (WHICH IS A BIG IF AMIRITE), I can expect a shitton of hilarity from that board.

Okay, so my "Fall of Rome, Rise of Europe" class got way off-topic early on, and the (apparent) McCain supporter was trying to put forth the idea that ACORN's false voter registrations were throwing off the Democratic/Republican voter identification levels, which was leading to Obama's lead in the polls which don't evenly distribute between parties.

 

I almost called him "Marvin" by accident, for sheer creativity in blending multiple stories together like he did.
