EricMM 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 As an example. http://thepit.ronbarker.ca/viewtopic.php?f...;p=11365#p11364 My EV predictions, as posted elsewhere: McCain 295, Obama 243 McCain will take PA, OH, IN, WV, VA, KY, NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, AR, MO, TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, MT, ID, WY, UT, CO, AZ, NV, AK. Obama will take ME, MA, NH, VT, RI, NY, NJ, DE, MD, DC, CT, MI, IL, MN, WI, IA, OR, WA, CA, NM, and HI. These are on the low end, IMHO, as there's a decent chance that McCain pulls what Reagan did in 1980 if people figure out early in the day that Barry isn't going to win. (Carter basically conceded early in the day to Reagan and it turned into a bloodbath at the electoral-vote level and in the Senate.)
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 I love how teke feels the need to explain every reference he makes. It kills me. I think Obama wins, but it won't be a landslide

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 I read that the polls that have the larger Obama leads are the ones that include polling people that don't have landline phones, and just have cell phones. That's kind of interesting to me, because I don't have a landline...and most of my friends (ages 25 to 30ish) don't really either. That's got to be something that is more common in a younger voter who has an apartment and doesn't see the need for the landline. You figure Obama's winning the youth vote...and polls aren't reflecting a nice portion of that group. This is true. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com has a pretty good chart showing which polls take cell phones into account and which ones use just landlines. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/cel...-continued.html The orange polls take cell phones into account. In regards to the comment bout Gallup's two models, the "traditional" model i believe only takes into account people who've voted before, while expanded takes into account high turnout by new voters. All i got to say is if Obama loses somehow, the polling industry is going to lose all credibility. They were generally accurate in 2004 (traditional polling, not exit polls). Most polls showed Bush with roughly a 2 pt lead (he won pop. vote by something like 2.4 or 2.6 percent)
BUTT 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 The Pit is so funny. Almost every conservative there is convinced that there's NO WAY that McCain could lose. All those polls that show Barry in front? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IS A BIASED LIE. I expect optimism from them, but I don't think they've braced themselves for the possibility of their guy losing. So if Obama wins tomorrow (WHICH IS A BIG IF AMIRITE), I can expect a shitton of hilarity from that board.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 If you want to see something funny, go to Fox News' website and check out the comments on their most recent poll, which shows Obama +7. Apparently FOX NEWS is "in the tank for Obama" and their poll is "liberal biased".

Nightwing 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Okay, so my "Fall of Rome, Rise of Europe" class got way off-topic early on, and the (apparent) McCain supporter was trying to put forth the idea that ACORN's false voter registrations were throwing off the Democratic/Republican voter identification levels, which was leading to Obama's lead in the polls which don't evenly distribute between parties. I almost called him "Marvin" by accident, for sheer creativity in blending multiple stories together like he did.
hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...edical-records/ Palin campaign not releasing her medical records before election day. I see what she's doing there. "well, it's a sinking ship anyway and I have to protect myself for a potential presidential run in '12." That is, if she's really hiding something. I don't know. Could the only thing stopping an undecided voter from voting for McCain be Palin's refusal to release her medical records?
Nightwing 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Sorry for the double post, but I'm listening to the two French-Canadians pranking Palin, and it's absolutely amazing. "We have someone like Joe the Plumber in France. We call him Jacque the guy with Bread underneath his armpit." Edit: Apparently it wasn't a double post. Thanks, Hyperchord! So if Obama wins tomorrow (WHICH IS A BIG IF AMIRITE), I can expect a shitton of hilarity from that board. Hey now, we're not all conservatives at the Pit. Like, there's Eric and Jobber. And, uh, Cheesala's there sometimes. And... uh... well, I'm not really conservative on most issues, and then there's... um... well, it is a bit lopsided. Oh and we got a bunch of new accounts sitting in line which are obviously people from here who were apparently afraid to have themselves recognized. Lame. Just use the name we know you by. Jingus 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Yeah, and I got no problem with you, I'm talking about three or four other guys. Why bother signing up at a board when we know you from somewhere else, but you decide that your identity has to stay on double-secret probation? You wanna register under the name we know you by, then we're glad to have you, but don't pull that "heh, they don't even suspect that it's really me, LOL" childish crap. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...edical-records/ Palin campaign not releasing her medical records before election day. doesn't it seem odd that they are stonewalling on THAT of all things? By all accounts there is nothing off about Palin's health. Hell, she looks remarkably healthy and attractive (physically at least. ok, only physically)

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 I wanted to see these wacky electoral maps, so I signed up as We Tigers, which is the name I use on every other board. Oops. I have been invited to three different election night parties. I'm normally quite happy with any excuse to party on a Tuesday, but it's become clear that these are actually going to be "parties" where people watch election returns with great interest and aren't actually getting hammered. God damn America.

Guest C*Z*E*C*H Report post Posted November 3, 2008 I'm not going to watch any election coverage at all! I'm going to put my headphones on, listen to music, and read books, and sit in the dark except for my reading lamp set to dim. Of course, I say that now. I'm really bummed that I have to work tomorrow night and miss a chunk of the festivities. I might have to ask my fiance to tape CNN for me. Spoiler: Obama wins And you know what, TheManErnieRowe, I don't like you. Not because of this. Other stuff, in the past.
