Campaign 2008

Recommended Posts

It's not unpatriotic to not vote, but it is just kind of lazy not to.

It really depends on your state's priorities. Voting is easy in California because they go through great expense in the effort to make as many people vote as possible.

In Nevada, the concern is to spend as little money as possible on elections, and voting can be inconvenient at times.

I don't want to be that guy, but I think serving the greater democratic good is a little more important than trying your patience in line. Watch porn on your iBerry.

Racheal Maddow just ran a new Obama ad where McCain is quoted months ago saying he wasn't strong on the economy and that he'd have to rely on his Vice Prez for economic help.... it fades to ....."His choice?"

and then flashes to Palin winking during the debates

I howled from laughter

Here is the rundown of the Massachusetts elections (I live in the 4th District in Bristol County). Look at how many offices are running unopposed; hell, this is the most candidates Barney Frank has run against in 10 years (he was unopposed in '02 and '06).

It's not unpatriotic to not vote, but it is just kind of lazy not to. Seriously, no matter who you are voting for, you should always make it an effort to vote. Voting is the easiest thing to do, and you can virtually always get time off work to do it. Hell, just show up and vote for your local comptroller or something.

Its just a shame that the new young registered voters only care about their vote for Obama..I doubt any of them have any clue about any other political race/issue, yet Im sure they'll all manage to find the name with a D next to it.

I'm sure that Joe the Plumber is constantly watching Channel 3 and CSPAN.

At some point you have to recognize that as a natural cultural reaction when the last guy FUCKED UP THE WORLD.

Local/State issues and elections have more of an impact on the average citizen than the President does. You dont fix a flooded basement by replacing the roof.

Marvin, don't be stupid. If you watch one second of the news, the presidential candidates are shoved down your throat. Just kind of by design, people are going to know more about the presidential candidates than the local ones. Local candidates have extremely limited funding and rarely receive much play time on local news networks, if any. It's up to the people to take the extra step to figure it out, and we all know how much we can rely on the average person to do that.

But don't loop me into that category about young people who don't care about anything else besides the presidential vote. I helped my parents make a decision in 2002 on the mayor of Huntington Beach as well as several other local figures. I was 11.

No, not really. Take it from the guy with the mafia associate for his Mayor.

Wait, this is just a stupid fucking post all around. Seriously, if you think that voter apathy is an exclusively Democratic phenomenon, then you truly are a lunatic. But I don't think there was much doubt about that anyways.

It's more than just waiting in line. We have a law saying primaries must use a caucus system, as a state money saving measure introduced sometime around the start of the decade.

Thing is, caucuses are 30 minute meetings held all over the state in specific locations near where you live, and this is a "24 hour city" of sprawling suburbs and a lot of people can't get time off or don't work near where they live. The casino employees are legion enough to have landed polling locations in the various hotels around the Strip, but everyone else wasn't that lucky.

All the world's craziness, compiled into a single webpage:

Crazy.

Obviously, I didn't read the whole thing, but I think the gist is that Malcolm X is Obama's real father.

I counter you with sarahsarmy.blogspot.com

I was just about to post this. Though I am content to never see another political ad for the rest of my life, this was very amusing. Sometimes less is more.

The spread at a site my friend goes to was -500 for Obama, but then they took it down b/c I think I think so many people were betting for him.

They take down spreads daily for re-adjustment

At the site my friend uses, they never put it back. I think some places have it at -700.

A McCain win = legit spike in Canadian real estate. I've read quite a few letters/online posts recently where people have said they'll move North if My Friends wins. Could be bullshit but I know I met a few ex-Americans who peaced out when Bush took it last time.

Ohmuhgah! Seal and Heidi Klum will leave U.S. if McCain wins!!!!???!!!

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag...i-klum-and.html

I decided about a week ago that I'm voting for McCain, but this is just even more reason.

I can see you've put plenty of thought into your vote.

Like I said, I decided about a week ago.

Take it from someone who is trying to move up there. Unless you get married to someone who is willing to support you with a certain amount of money for a period of time, during which they could leave you and you'd still be forced to support them, it's really hard to move up there.

Canada basically wants nothing but managers and executives along with the usual fields like Doctors and scientists.

A few people will move by marriage, and a few will move by opportunity, but until we can make some kind of work union thing like the EU where we can freely move around and work in each other's countries, it ain't gonna be easy.

In other news, another McCain spokesperson gets owned:
