Enigma Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Former WWF star Chris "Tatanka" Chavis is backstage at the Raw taping at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT. Given that he isn't local to the area and word was going around over the weekend that WWE was trying to track him down, it's likely he's going to be involved in some fashion on Raw tonight.
Guest jac52 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 tatanka is one of my all time favourites. Hope they still use his old music
CanadianChick Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 What good could possibly come of this? I liked the guy....10 years ago.
King Cucaracha Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Or, maybe he'll be in the Eugene Invitational.
Black Lushus Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 yeah, what CC said, why can't they push current talent and stop using has-beens? WWE Executive: Hey i got an idea, let's bring back a mildly over guy who's pushing 40 and totally forget about young guys with all the potential in the world who are way over like Shelton Benjamin! do you think the crowd will be all "who the hell is this guy?"
Enigma Posted August 1, 2005 Author Report Posted August 1, 2005 It might have something to do with the DivaSearch. Remember when they brought back Kamala for it?
Zack Malibu Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 WWE.com said Vince had a major announcement. If THIS is it, I swear I'll sell my ticket outside the casino.
Black Lushus Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 hahahahahaha Zack's going to a shitty Raw!!!!!! EDIT: why do you think I passed on the Omaha one back in April or May or whenever that was?
Silence Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It might have something to do with the DivaSearch. Remember when they brought back Kamala for it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yippee! The Raw Diva Search contestants have an Indian dancing contest with Tatanka this week on Raw! Edit: Fuck, I forgot that this week is the Raw Diva Search jousting competition. Oh well, it'll still suck with or without Tatanka.
spman Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I've got tickets for tonights RAW and tomorrows Smackdown too. I'm dissapointed to hear Hogan won't be there, but I think I'll be entertained by this.
RedJed Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I bet he'll be used for the Eugene Invitational thing since the arena is on a reservation and it would just make sense as such. I dont see the big deal with having him back if he's just putting over a current talent for a week, much like Jake Roberts did in showing up one week and taking an RKO. It just better helps to put over the current talent anyway. Major announcement = Hardy v. Edge at SummerSlam and/or Hardy "reinstated" back into WWE.
Downhome Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I always thought they should have pushed Tatanka to the top. From what I hear, he's also a pretty great guy. *shrugs*
Gert T Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 What do you think think Tatanka will be tipping the scales at? He was pretty large in his last WWF stint.
Guest JMA Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It would kind of be cool if Eugene had obscure wrestlers from the nineties (and even the eighties) compete in the Eugene Invitational. He's going to face Papa Shango next, isn't he?
Downhome Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 According to OWW, Tatanka turned 40 on 6/8/05.
RedJed Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It would kind of be cool if Eugene had obscure wrestlers from the nineties (and even the eighties) compete in the Eugene Invitational. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It sure as hell would be more of a point to watch than random jobbers, like Angle faced for so many months. Wonder if there is going to be any follow up with Matt Striker by the way?!!
Caliban Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Wow, that's fucking weird. I was watching the 1994 KOTR only yesterday, and was thinking how Tatanka's "get head smashed into turnbuckles, start Indian war dance" routine was similar to Eugene's.
Black Lushus Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I always thought they should have pushed Tatanka to the top. From what I hear, he's also a pretty great guy. *shrugs* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought he was porking somebodies wife at one point?
Dangerous A Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Never really liked Tatanka. Will be fast forwarding through whatever segment he's in. God Bless Tivo.
Caliban Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 So which is better? "YEE YEE YEE YEE YEE YEE YEE YEE YOO YOO YOO YOO YOO!" or "AHHEYYYAAAEEYAAAEYYAAAEYYAAEYAAA"? Sorry.
nl5xsk1 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 My first thought was the diva search ... but they already used Sarge in the "Kamala" role from the 1st search. My second thought was the Eugene invitational ... but since Eugene is a face, shouldn't his challengers be heels? And wouldn't a returning "superstar" like Tatanka get a face reaction?
cabbageboy Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It's odd that they group Tatanka in nowdays with all the lame gimmick wrestlers of the early 90s...he was a lot more popular than that. Who wouldn't have been a mark for a 1992/93 match with Bulldog vs. Tatanka? Canadian Chick, you liked Tatanka in 1995, after he did the heel turn that basically killed his career?
spman Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I always thought they should have pushed Tatanka to the top. From what I hear, he's also a pretty great guy. *shrugs* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought he was porking somebodies wife at one point? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was actually Tatanka whose wife was being porked by Paul Diamond, or so the story goes. Anyways, since RAW IS being held at an Indian Casino tonight, who wants to be that WWE just goes balls out and uses Tatanka in the most tasteless offensive way possible, and gets banned from the arena for life?
Guest *KNK* Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Has Vince ever been banned from an arena before? actually banned, not out-paid by WCW to reserve the rights to a venue.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I hope the announcement has something to do with Brock Lesnar. Fuck Matt Hardy.
ChrisMWaters Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 My second thought was the Eugene invitational ... but since Eugene is a face, shouldn't his challengers be heels? And wouldn't a returning "superstar" like Tatanka get a face reaction? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not if they remember the past and bring DiBiase out with him.
Twisted Intestine Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 The announcement will be that HHH is back, and the new #1 Contender.
strummer Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Meltzer: --Chris "Tatanka" Chavis is backstage at the Raw show. The only speculation I have is that they are at the Mohegan Sun Casino, so perhaps they were looking for a Native American character, and when you think about it, there's nobody else who has any fame who isn't way too old.
Guest *KNK* Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Wonderful. Vince is just going after every offensive route possible as quick as he can.
