UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 Hills and Last House are both great, and I've been lucky enough to catch both in the theatre at local horror showings, but both fall into a debate. One group of horror fans would likely kill the other group who says they aren't "horror pictures", and the other would be pissed for them being included. Personally, I find them both as being perfect for the horror genre, and tough to classify as anything else, but they're not horror movies. Last House and Hills both deal with families fighting insane groups of people. I would personally classify them as Suspense Thrillers, or something similar, but I have absolutely no problem with fans who consider them horror pictures. Check out the "previous screenings", go all the way to the bottom, and scroll up to check out some of then awesome things they have done. They even show 5-8 trailers of great flicks before each film.

One group of horror fans would likely kill the other group who says they aren't "horror pictures", and the other would be pissed for them being included. Personally, I find them both as being perfect for the horror genre, and tough to classify as anything else, but they're not horror movies. Last House and Hills both deal with families fighting insane groups of people. I would personally classify them as Suspense Thrillers, or something similar, but I have absolutely no problem with fans who consider them horror pictures. Last House and Hills would both be considered along the lines of Horror Exploitation. At least that's the way most I know have considered them. By the way, it's a shame that Opera didn't make this list......

One of the reasons that "Audition" disturbs people so much is because of it's role reversal. Instead of a girl being hunted and tortured, it's a man, who is tortured by a sexually repulsive psychopath of a woman who likes to make her victims eat her vomit, as well as torture and mutilate them. That's why it's so scary, because unlike "The Grudge", the events in "Audition" could really happen to someone.
