Batista and JBL aren't draws

As long as they continue to make money (even a relatively little bit) on every single PPV they are not going to stop doing 14-16 a year like they are now.

It's sad, but true.

Putting the numbers aside (and you'd have to draw Wrestlemania-like numbers for *each* of those shows to even come close to making the same amount as 14 PPVs a year), you're still putting your eggs in 5 baskets - if one PPV flops then you're fucked. Plus, they are in an age of weekly television, you would want the WWE drawing out feuds for 2-3 months? They can't even make feuds last for 2-3 weeks. They'd run out of formulas by the second show.

Yeah, why don't they just lose millions of dollars in revenue.

Clearly, this is because WWE fans perceive "The Great American Bash" as a WCW show, rather than a WWE show.  Therefore the answer is simple: Change the name of the show.

With the hundreds of stations now available on cable, the WWE fans just can't find the appropriate channel to enjoy WWE Pay Per View programming.

are you being sarcastic? I dont think thats the reason. besides the GAB name brings back more good memories than bad from the nwa/wcw days.

Exactly. I can further forsee them gradually adding even more events on their PPV calendar with this logic. How many more pay per views could they conceivably cram in? Two for every month without a 'big four' pay per view? If so, I'd imagine a greater abundance of specialty pay-per-views (eg, ECW or Taboo Tuesday).

Yea, I know it'd be a fantasy to go back to the five pay-per-views like they used to have and it is Bischoff's fault, but I just wanted to get that bit of frustration off my chest.

I definitely see them cramming more pay-per-views into the calendar in the upcoming years. I only buy Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series, but they have some fans that will buy every show.

The main problem is that they are addicted to their pay-per-view revenues now that come from twelve shows a year and if they keep adding shows it'll never stop as long as they make money (which to their defense makes good business sense).

A large number of PPV would work with the right creative team, just as a small number of PPV would fail with the wrong creative team.

Well Sandman and Dreamer may not be draws themselves but I would have to say ECW is a bigger draw than SD right now.

Considering the ECW ppv didnt do all that well and the fact it has a limited core fanbase and the fact the nostalgiic effect ECW offered for ONS has burst; I wouldn't call ECW a bigger draw then Smackdown.

Five PPVs a year with the current creative team would be brutal. The RAW team has had a hard enough time just booking from Vengeance to SummerSlam while still managing to rehash material week after week.

Or maybe another evil authority figure with evil handpicked heel vs anti-authority thug babyface champion that may or may not create his own version of the WWE Title?
