SD Thread for 08-11

Recommended Posts

Wow, seems like a lot of people cared about this show...

Rey is completely burying Eddie in this feud. He made Eddie look stupid on the mic, and he still won't job to him. The funniest part of this segment was Dominick's reactions. I was waiting for Tazz to make a joke about his head being buried in his mom's ample chest for 10 minutes.

Is there a bigger glorified jobber than Christian?

And the ring work in this show was terrible. Booker/Mercury, Orton/Kamala, and Mexicools/Jobbers were all just awful. It really looked like no one on the roster gave a shit about this show. I didn't get the vibe of anyone trying to do anything well.

I give it a year since UPN will end up canceling SD due to poor ratings moving it to the "Death Valley" of Network timeslots. The only saving grace is it wont be going up against Survivor/CSI, but it will be going up against people going out on friday nights and prememptions due to sports, so it all probably plays out even.

It is amazing that Christian has any heat. What is his TV record this year, like 5-22?

We traded the boring JBL speech this week for the Eddie/Rey Days of Our Lives angle. Am I the only one who thinks that this whole thing doesn't really make any sense, particularly what Rey was saying? He came off like a prick tonight without really meaning to. I mean here he was wanting his son to stay with him, then took time out to trash Eddie saying he can't beat him. And then puts his own son on the line in a wrestling match? What kind of sick fuck would do that?

I think Eddie will somehow emerge from this feud with his heat intact. Don't ask me HOW exactly but Eddie is that talented. Rey however? His heat is dying a slow, painful death.

If Rey wins a spotfest ladder match, then doesn't mention the angle again, he'll be fine. Eddie's heat can't be destroyed, as he's been jobbed out for the last year and still gets a strong reaction.

Rey should never be allowed to write another angle again, though.

It's kind of weird that my favorite part of the show--well, not really the show itself-- was a commercial that featured Raven. He was promoting a match between himself and Road Dogg (yes, they used that name) and said that his promo was different because people in Birmingham couldn't understand the big words he usually uses.

Umm..I'm pretty sure that was the point. (the whole coming off like a prick, by trashing Eddie). He was doing the whole "mind games" thing that WWE loves to do, as was shown by the facial expressions Eddie was making. He kept teasing him about not being able to beat him...so Eddie would essentially 'take the bait' and accept a match with him. (which he evidently knows/believes he can win...)

Otherwise..if he had just stood there crying..well, all Eddie had to do was pick up Dominic and leave..

And while yes, putting his own son on the line, in a match, is umm...fucking crazy, in kayfabe, that's really the only possibly way Rey has a chance of getting him back.

Eddie/Rey is beyond lame now. Trying to explain it to non fans or people who have not followed the product hurts. A lot. Cause it's dumb. On many levels.

Eddie has to keep his heat and be booked strong in the end since the word is he is being programmed with Batista post Summerslam.

He needs to beat Rey at SummerSlam AND on one of the Smackdown!'s after that show. Of course, that means Rey will lose his son in storyline terms.

Eddie winning would also sorta take away any reason for him being a heel. Personally, I want to see Dominic turn on Rey and cost him the match. Or something. They did sorta book themselves into a corner here.

Oh and DA, I don't see how it's so difficult to explain.

I didn't say it was difficult. I said it hurts. It hurts because the storyline is dumb. Now, I'm not one of these guys that has to have all pure wrestling only with no entertainment, but I want good entertaiment and storylines. This is just cheesy in my opinion. I'll give Eddie and Rey credit in that they are going full bore with this and not half assing it. The angle would actually be worse if they did that. However, just because they are giving a good effort in execution doesn't mean that what they are executing isn't shit.

Again, it's not difficult to follow. It just goes against common sense, which is painful to attempt to get over to non fans.

lmao @ bein on the phone at nearly 3am hearin 2, what are they called, "marks", I guess, talkin about Kamala right now. Started talkin bout wrestlin cause the Jillian Hall shit got brought up, and my friend goes off on how gross it looks and shit, and she kept on askin if it was real. Then Kamala got brought up, they're both grossed out about him slapping his stomach, and then randomly Rikishi and "his big ass rubbing it in peoples faces" got brought up. I've been dyin the entire time. Sorry, had to share.

Wow, they completely and totally buried Christian last night.

Christian gets buried anytime he's anywhere near Batista. No surprise there.

Or anyone for that matter. Since coming to SD, he's only beaten Funaki clean and Booker by cheating. He's lost clean to JBL (in the 6 way), Booker, Rey, and Batista twice. Christian is the epitome of JTTS.

Why is it never enough to get yourself over? Why must you be someone's golden boy? Why do talentless lumps get endless opportunities to get over, while guys who can perform get (at most) one shot and that's it?

This is why I'm not watching anymore. I'm sick of seeing people I like get buried, while people I can't stand get shoved down my throat.
