nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 Is OJ losing all the time going to lead to JBL firing him (ala Virgil) and the two feuding? Aren't the two of them supposedly real-life friends? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> real life friends can't play feud on a scripted television show? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I interpreted the post in the other way ... maybe the fact that OJ & JBL are friends would save Jordan's job, rather than them just jobbing him out in an embarrassing way and then firing him (a la Maven). WTf Guerrero against Batista after Guerrero just lost every fucking match against Rey Mysterio and got totally humiliated? Yeah that match would sell PPV's. All it will take is a few weeks of Guerrero looking like a bad-ass and holding his own against Batista and a lot of people will forget about him losing the Mysterio feud so convincingly. Smarks will remember, but most marks and casual fans don't really think that far back, I don't think.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 I pondered all of this in some other threads, especially the Eddie thing. I kept insisting that if Eddie is seriously going to get title shots soon he needs to just flat out beat the fuck out of Rey to end this thing and give him some sort of credibility. Cause right now he's a glorified jobber. The weird aspect to it is why does JBL keep getting these opportunities? It's not like he didn't get killed flat out at SS. I mean, I flat out demanded that SS be Cabinet jobbing night, and it was....and then they still go ahead and push em anyway?
Vyce 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 I'm watching this solely for coffee. And Velocity for Birchill. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Absolutely. I hope they went all out with that segment, too. As in, Benoit literally holds up the cup to the camera. "See? I'm like, not even halfway finished with this yet." I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why Anderson's name was changed to "Ken Kennedy". Please don't tell me it was so as to not draw comparisons to Arn, or some ridiculous shit like that. I was not suggesting that they couldn't feud.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 I'm going to watch Smackdown just for the Benoit segment alone. That is just so bad ass.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 Good, now Benoit needs a nice run with the US title. You know what's sad though? For god knows what reason I watched Road Wild 99 the other day and Benoit was US champ going against DDP. In 6 years the guy hasn't had much progress, has he? Ah well at least he had the one cup of coffee in the main event.

RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2005 Velocity looks good again this week, damn I'm almost going to miss that show when it ends in about a month. So Kazarian beat London and we havent heard from him since? Whats that about? There has got to be some political issue there. Smackdown looks ok but there is not the best structure on the show right now. I guess I expected some more closure and movement from the SummerSlam feuds into new ones this week, but it didnt come off that way at all. But hey, at least Jordan will likely get fired by JBL soon after a burial like that in the main event. Couldnt happen to a crappier worker! Building JBL-Batista 3 as the main event of the first Friday Smackdown just shows how out of it this writing team on the show is right now. That wont certainly draw, nor should another match with them be even happening since Bradshaw moreless got squashed at SummerSlam. How about Taker-Batista instead? That might at least have a chance of drawing some interest from the masses. I still dont get why some people are thinking Eddy was hurt by the feud with Rey - I think it got him more over as a heel with the things he did, and especially during the last few big matches, he dominated Rey almost from start to finish. He was protected really strong even though he would lose those matches. This is an instance where I agree with WWE writing in that wins and losses really dont matter as long as the person doesnt look like shit in losing. Ken Anderson's name was changed to Kennedy because Vince is rumored to really like the character himself and thus gave him his middle name.
