Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 Man, I can't even imagine how loud the Swamp will be on Saturday. I’m hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 You know, despite only seeing him in two games (Last year's Iron Bowl) and last Saturday against USM, I really like Tyrone Prothro. I suppose it's okay to like a player on the rival team, but not the team itself. C'mon Auburn, beat Ball State!
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 I really don't know who will win the Florida-Tennessee game. Had UT put up a better performance against UAB, I'd be more confident in their chances to win in Gainesville, but this isn't Ron Zook he's going up against. ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 Tennessee has won the last 2 trips to the Swamp, Florida have no running game, and I think Meyer's overrated. UT by 10.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 UT by 10. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No bias here. Thankfully, the ref from last year's game (who received death threats after that game) has been taken off the game this Saturday.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 U of L vs. Oregon St. will likely be a better game than the line would suggest (which is U of L by 13 or 14). Oregon St. just came off beating Boise in a thriller and they seemed pretty decent.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2005 ABC presents: THE BATTLE OF THE SUCK Nebraska vs Pitt It's a crying shame how far these two programs have fallen. In a sense they were good programs, not in a "well the don't deserve this" crying. Personally I'm tap dancing at watching the Huskers crash and burn. Pitt...eh, never had much of an opinion. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 The Huskers' demise isn't permanent. As soon as Callahan's recruits are ready to start, the West Coast offense will become effective, and Nebraska will be back on top of the Big XII North.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 The Huskers' demise isn't permanent. As soon as Callahan's recruits are ready to start, the West Coast offense will become effective, and Nebraska will be back on top of the Big XII North. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's not saying a whole hell of a lot these days... The Big 12 North is the sorriest collective set of BCS conference teams this side of the Big East. K-State, Nebraska, and Colorado used to be the cream of the Big 12, but K-State's fallen hard ever since they made it to the Fiesta Bowl, Nebraska lost their aura after Osborne retired and their will to play after Solich was fired, and Colorado's been a sick national joke for the past few years. Missouri is a chronic underachiever. Iowa State and Kansas are perennial doormats. Things may change this year if Iowa State can keep it up, but I'm not expecting much from ANY Big 12 team outside of the state of Texas.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Sad that the big moment for Texas has to come during a down year for the conference. If they win it all people will just point to the fact that the conference was down. And you act like K-State has been down for years......it was only one year. Not time to panic. If they win it all people will just point to the fact that the conference was down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not necessarily. If they go undefeated (which they should with their schedule), they're almost guaranteed a Rose Bowl berth, and I'm pretty sure the way they're judged will depend on what happens there. Unless they pull an Oklahoma against USC or pull a Texas against Oklahoma, they should be remembered very well. And by the way, what kind of a Sooner fan are you? I can see cheering for the conference when Texas plays Ohio State, but feeling bad that Texas won't be remembered well? That's just weird.

Not time to panic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not panicing... I just don't particularly give a shit about the Big 12 as long as they're better than the Big East. As for K-State, there are down years and there are down years... They went from a BCS bowl to a 5-6 season last year which, while not unprecedented, does not happen often. The only other team I can think of to do that, offhand, is Illinois circa 2001-2002, when they went from Big Ten champs to the league doormat again in record time. Pitt may re-create that, though, if they keep getting their asses whipped like they did against Notre Dame and Ohio. BTW, I finally realized why Ohio was able to pull it off in that game and it's NOT 100% due to Pitt sucking... It's because former Nebraska coach Frank Solich took over the head coach position there. Considering that Ohio now has a competent coach, they may finally start living up to the REST of the recent MAC success stories like Northern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, Toledo, etc.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Explain. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says he'll decide later this week whether suspended tailback Adrian Peterson will start Saturday against UCLA. "We'll determine that as the week goes," Stoops said Tuesday. "We'll see. At this point, we anticipate him playing. Start or not depends on how we feel practice is going, what we feel we need to do. Depending on what further happens from here, we'll see." Peterson, who rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns in Oklahoma's 31-15 win against Tulsa on Saturday, was suspended from practice on Monday and Tuesday after missing classes but was allowed to participate in team meetings and other activities. He is not being allowed to speak to reporters. ESPN.com

While horrible O-line play due to injuries and a lack of ability didn't help, it took two interceptions to be returned for touchdowns (plus another INT that was thrown into the endzone) for Ohio to win. Then again, this is the type of win that can change a program, so who knows. We'll see how they can carry this to thier next game against Virginia Tech. While Pitt's season may be a stinker this year, there is already a strong recruiting class lined up, so the long-term future still holds promise.

Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Man, Dama, you sure are down on Oklahoma this year. Like I said before, it's a new, young team. I really feel that as the season develops that they will get much better and by the start of next season they just might be ready to be the Oklahoma team that will be remembered. Hell NOBODY respects OU's 2000 national title win. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bullshit. Everyone remembers that they won a title, and beyond that they don't really remember much. Unless the title's split or disputed in some way, (something like Michigan and Nebraska), everybody remembers national titles about the same, regardless of how good the team was or whether they were favored going into the game.
