Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 And with Maddux coming out now, leaving him in to hit was a bad move in retrospect.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 5-4 Houstin with a runner on 3rd and 1 out <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you think we get 1 or 2 wins v. Houston? I have a feeling Smoltz's shoulder is much worse then they're letting on.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Wild pitch makes it 6-4 Houstin, I think the chances of that one game playoff are pretty much gone.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Innings like this is one of the reasons the Cubs aren't going to finish with a winning record.

I have a feeling Smoltz's shoulder is much worse then they're letting on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We'll most likely be facing Pettite Clemens and Oswalt. I think we'll be swept, but I could see getting one win. Not two.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 And I should note that part of me wants the Nationals to win, just so it's not the Cubs' fault entirely that the Phillies didn't get in.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Oh My God. I know it's a meaningless game and all, but the Braves bullpen is horrible.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 what inning are they in? And my disapointment in Cleveland knows no bounds. I realize they're young, but they have too much talent to get swept out like this

Not two. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Given how horrible Houston's offence is, I think the Jones' can get us one win, especially if Smoltz or Hudson can go 7 or 8. I'm just waiting for Jorge Sosa to have his one bad start.
Dogbert 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 They give up a homer to Jeremy Hermida? Who in the hell is Jeremy Hermida? (sung to the tune of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego")

I realize they're young, but they have too much talent to get swept out like this <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "They're still shitty." Oh well, maybe next year. 1-5 on their final homestand is the drizzles. Classy ovation from the fans though.

Guest Smues Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Oh My God. I know it's a meaningless game and all, but the Braves bullpen is horrible. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That fact right there will negate Houstin's crappy offense.
mike546 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 And if we have the same playoff teams as in 2004 (with CWS in Minny's place), why's that so bad? The 2004 playoffs were one of the greatest I've seen since I started watching the sport. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought 03 was one of the best really. Beside the amazing Yankee/Sox series, and the great Cubs/Marlins series, you had the terrific Marlins/Giants series which ended with a Giant getting throw out at the plate. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 People should still remember that Cleveland wasn't pegged to even contend until next season. Terrible ending, but I'd say they have the brightest outlook of just about any team in the AL.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 I don't know who to trust besides Farnsworth. Reitsma is horrible and Foster has faded down the stretch. Boyer is hurt and sucked today. I like Horacio, but he's too inconsistent. Ditto Davies.

Fish. While the 2004 World Series sucked, at least everyone got to see Boston finally win one.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Who plays who in the AL? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NY-Anaheim Bos-Chicago Angels are up 6-4 in the 7th, so it looks like they'll get homefield. SORIANO, GIVE YOUR HOMEBOYS A HAND!
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Remember in 2001 when the Braves backed into the postseason and then proceeded to rape the Astros? No? Okay, because I'm really hoping somehow that happens again.

Okay, because I'm really hoping somehow that happens again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I remember that but they didn't really back in. Also the Braves still had Glavine and Maddux and Millwood, and Houstin didn't have Petite and Clemens. Edit: They also won 4 of their last 5 games that year. As opposed to this year where we lost 5 of the last 6.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Clemens still isn't healthy. He won yesterday, but he didn't look all that sharp and had some command issues. Should still be an interesting series.
