Tomorrow's game is essentially a must win for the Red Sox, because they're done if they go down two games. There's no way in hell they will sweep the Yankees at home (especially since they will probably stink against Wang, like they have against almost every pitcher they have faced for the first time this year).

How are they underachievers? They sign good pitchers and good hitters --- and solely to catch the Braves in the East --- and they ALWAYS come up short. Not occasionally, but always.

 

If you've failed for years on end, the problem is the talent you have.

I didn't know the Expos were a team. And he's far from the reason they're not a joke. The players who actually care (Rollins, Utley, Howard, i.e. youth & dedication) would be that. Abreu just hits home runs every now and then and gets RBIs. But not in big-time situations.

I didn't know you forgot that they existed as the Expos for the past seven seasons, which is what I was referring to.

I didn't know that they exuded such dedication when neither Utley or Howard have played a full season yet. Hell, Howard just passed 300 AB's for the season. Oh yes, the youthful Phillies who will actually regressed record-wise, compared to last year without either men contributing much.

I guess leading his team in win shares isn't enough. Perhaps if he lead the team in "imaginary big-time situations", I guess you'd be satisfied.

They really fucked up with the manager search this year. Cholly cost them a few games himself with his stupid decisions. They nearly went with Terry Pendleton, who despite having no managerial experience, impressed them tons in his interview. Why not go with him? It's the kind of outside the box thinking the franchise could really use instead of the old boys network they currently have.

 

And considering its Ed Wade who is the GM, it's not really hard to do a better job than him. Just wait for him to go with the old favorite of his, love of "veteran relievers" who absolutely blow when they get to Philly.

 

Even if Wade were replaced, I wouldn't like it unless they go with someone outside the organization who will get free reign, perhaps Gerry Hunsicker or someone like that. No promoting Amaro and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT give Dallas Green the job.

They're done in the East, maybe, but they're still tied with Cleveland for the wild card right now, and the Indians look like they've run out of gas.

They faced him on the sunday night game in which Mussina pitched awful and Wells went 8 2//3rds of brilliant pitching. Whatever, I'm just as nervous as any Red Sox fan. If it stays even after tonight, I just don't see us beating you guys 2 out of three in Boston. I think its coming down to a playoff at Yankee Stadium.

White Sox are two innings away from clinching a tie for the AL Central title. 4-1 lead over the Tigers heading to the 8th.

 

EDIT: Sox have now actually clinched the Central title outright, as a tie with Cleveland would mean both teams are in the postseason, and Chicago would win the division on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
