And by the way, Flightplan effing sucked!

What was the ending? Spoil it for me, please.

Haven't seen it, but a friend of mine was telling me how lame it was last night:

Apparently an air marshal and one of the flight attendants kidnap the girl as part of a ridiculously convoluted extortion plot that necessitates them luring Jodie Foster's character into the cargo hold and to her husband's casket, or something retarded like that. The burrito I was eating was really good so I only half paid attention. So, to answer Slayer, the stewardess unions are pissed off that a stewardess is portrayed as a terrorist, basically.

Flightplan, the ending

ok...so she wasn't crazy all along. The air marshal that was trying to help her ended up taking her daughter while she fell asleep, and he hide her on the plane. And rigged the area with explosives. The Air guy relayed to the captain that the "daughter thing" was all a ploy and that Jodie Foster intended to blow up the plane unless she got $50 in an account, blah blah...a stewartess was part of the ploy all along.

Turns out the Marshal had her husband killed. So that way he could get a coffin on the plane since they're not x-rayed, so that's how he got the explosives on board.

Blah blah, she finds out what's up...I forgot how. she ends up getting her daughter back and blew up the plane with the air marshal inside. it sucked hard and that's the end.

So Sean Bean isn't the bad guy? What a crock of shit. But he dies, right?

My girlfriend wanted to see it. I felt obligated since I had her watch an episode of the Ultimate Fighter with me.

You made her watch something that was good and free, she made you watch something that clearly sucked from the previews and it likely took out at least $15 bucks out of your wallet.

Was it last season's TUF? If so, you don't owe her shit.

If it was one from this season...yeah, you're fucked. You're gonna keep owing her for weeks.

I guess it'd surprise a grand total of NO ONE if I said I'd never even heard of "Flight Plan" until I saw the poster for it on my way in to see "Serenity".

That really sucks that Serenity pretty much tanked. (I was expecting at least $15-$20 mil opening) and I think they'll have a hard time reaching that $80 mil mark.

Really, really sucks because I just wrapped up the DVD's a week ago and loved the movie and now it looks like the end.

The Whedon fanboys are gonna have to see it over and over for it to make it's money. I imagined the people that were geeked for it have already seen it. I'll see it at least once. I've never seen a movie twice in theaters though.

I went to see A History of Violence today. It was awesome and it's surprising no one has started a thread about the film. There was one thing I found curious about Viggo in the film though, and if anyone else saw it feel free to comment:

Throughout the movie Viggo goes around disarming various thugs and killing them, often against 3 on 1 type odds. This seems like it would require some sort of of serious special forces or CIA type training, far above the usual mafia hitman (you know, the type in Scorsese movies who beats people with a bat).

Also, one small detail with Flightplan's plot

They do x-ray coffins now so there is no way he could have snuck anything onto the plane in a coffin.

What can you say? Serenity is a Sci-fi movie and Sci-fi is basically dead and dying. 10 million isn't bad but you can bet some studios are rethinking those big budget picture deals they were about to hand Whedon. Which is a shame.

People, the production budget for Serenity was 39 million. It's fine. It'll easily make back the money in international market and DVD sales.
