EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Game 1: Clement vs. Contreras Game 2: Wells vs. Buehrle Game 3: Garland vs. Wakefield I think this series is probably the most interesting of the first round.
Guest Damn You Helmsley Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Red Sox deserve to lose. White Sox deserve to win. That said, I wish it was the other way around.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 If the Red Sox lose, how long until that a-hole Dan Shaughnessy has "The Curse of Carlton Fisk" available on Amazon.com? /is aware that Fisk is back on good terms with the R.Sox //still wanted to make the joke ///doesn't care that it's not a funny one
Precious Roy Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Sox OWNED Contreras when he was pitching for NY. I know he's been their best pitcher down the stretch, but I question the wisdom of starting him in game 1.
The Czech Republic Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Oh, barf. The White Sox are ripping off the Patriots' Dangerfield act. Sweep them and make sure this doesn't get even more annoying.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Sox OWNED Contreras when he was pitching for NY. I know he's been their best pitcher down the stretch, but I question the wisdom of starting him in game 1. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm... Contreras the best pitcher of the White Sox? Have you watched them? It's more like Garcia/Buehrle, Contreras/Garland, then the 5th pitcher, whoever it is. Though McCarthy will be mentioned at this time next year. Czech, why are you even in this thread? You made it clear you don't like the White Sox, and as I see on the poll, you don't seem to like the Red Sox either. Just stay out of the thread then.
Precious Roy Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 I said DOWN THE STRETCH, learn to read. He went 6-0 with a 1.99 era in Sept, while Garland, Buehrle and Garcia collectively shit the bed.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Didn't know the "stretch" meant only one month.
Precious Roy Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 He had a 2.14 era in August. The POINT is that he's been their most consistent pitcher late in the season which is why Guillen is going with him in game 1, but I question that logic given his struggles with Boston.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 It's only 1 game. It takes THREE games to eliminate a team. If Contreras can't get it done, then they'll just hope Buehrle and Garland and Garcia does. Really, like you said, he's been their best pitcher in September, so why not? Go with a pat hand.
The Czech Republic Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 You made it clear you don't like the White Sox, and as I see on the poll, you don't seem to like the Red Sox either. Just stay out of the thread then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> UM, I've cited the Red Sox as my favorite AL team for like three years, and I talk about how I want Braves-Red Sox in the Series at like every turn.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Good for you. Cardinals & White Sox: North Side Suicide Cardinals & Red Sox: Same Fucking Thing Sure sounds like it.
The Czech Republic Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 That's just a factual statement that the Cardinals vs. Red Sox, would, in fact, be the same fucking thing.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 One could make an inference to you saying Cards/Red Sox= North Side Suicide, following the Cards/White Sox comment. However this is a silly discussion. If you like the Red Sox, then cool.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Including me, I've seen four people with Red Sox hats and/or t-shirts at school today. (Chicago south suburbs.)
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Including me, I've seen four people with Red Sox hats and/or t-shirts at school today. (Chicago south suburbs.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yay? Well I don't blame them. The White Sox pretty much nearly damn killed their fanbase with the near collapse. It's going to have to take a sweep of both Red Sox and the winner of Yankees/Angels to regain credibility.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 I'd assume they were all Cubs fans.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 I doubt the Sox would ever do anything so classy, although part of me wishes this said "Go Red Sox!"
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Like the Cubs would ever get in a position for the White Sox to congratulate them...
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 White Sox postseason series won in your life= Zero.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 White Sox postseason series won in your life= Zero. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm... good comeback.
The Czech Republic Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Porter, you said "like the Cubs would ever do anything worth congratualting" or something like that. But the Cubs have had more postseason appearances and more postseason series won, but no congratulations. Such as when the Cubs actually got past the first round in '03, which is something the White Sox haven't done since 1917.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 On an unrelated note, I heard the guy in my sig (Ronny Woo Woo) has been going to White Sox games lately. Has anybody heard anything about this?
MrRant Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 What is the over/under on Battle of the Sox(Socks) jokes we hear for about a week?
The Czech Republic Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 On an unrelated note, I heard the guy in my sig (Ronny Woo Woo) has been going to White Sox games lately. Has anybody heard anything about this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh no. We simply can't lose him.
2GOLD Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Come on Chicago. You have to win. The nation does not need more Red Sox/Yankees bullshit. Just save us all now.
Boon Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Come on Chicago. You have to win. The nation does not need more Red Sox/Yankees bullshit. Just save us all now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Yankees can lose too, you know.

Just save us all now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Yankees can lose too, you know. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And I'll state my support for their opponent when that thread comes out. I just want one of those two teams to go down in flames. Both of them and Houston actually cause I don't want that "Clemens vs ...." story to be aired everytime he takes the hill.
devo Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 Nice, Piazza's helping to call this game. Admittedly, he's not very good, but it's still pretty cool.
