luke-o 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 I gave Russo plenty of chances and he messed up. Get rid of him now. Bring in someone who can write. Give the book to Cornette. Give the book to Raven. Give the book to Tenay for all i care, lets just get some fucking wrestling back onto Impact. Actually, give the book to Raven.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 Well, if what is being said is true, can you blame Russo if he's being forced to get the whole roster on TV each week?
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 That report does change things a bit. The Alvarez piece was great, but the profanity undermines it a little as with any legitimate analysis.
Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 People rag on Tenay quite a bit for his announcing, but he seems like the type who'd book the show to be about wrestling instead of stupid gimmicks and storylines.
Guest phoenixdown2112 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 Just was checking the news on PWInsider and they just announced TNA released Elix Skipper and David Young David Young Im not so surprised about but Elix Skipper I am kind of shocked about even though they haven't been using him for awhile just kind of shocking to see their major highlight reel moment going out the door.
Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 That's dumb. Skipper's a pretty good wrestler, he could have helped the X Division as a single. Hell, they're dumb to get rid of tag teams anyway since a solid tag team division would actually separate it from WWE.
Si82 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 Well, if what is being said is true, can you blame Russo if he's being forced to get the whole roster on TV each week? If it true then Russo has probably brought it about himself. He's the guy who's always said that he gives everyone a storyline. It's was he's been doing ever since they brought him back to TNA. Anyway, bollocks to Russo and bollocks to TNA. Fucking morons.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 People rag on Tenay quite a bit for his announcing, but he seems like the type who'd book the show to be about wrestling instead of stupid gimmicks and storylines. Well he did book the shows w/ D'Amore and a few other commitee members earlier this year. Did those shows meet the wrestling criteria? Hard to say....there were some good and bad. Speaking of him, is D'Amore even still WITH TNA? My thoughts on the whole booking deal is that IF the company is demanding damn near everyone is represented in an hour presentation weekly, I can see why the shows are like they are in a sense. That still doesnt excuse Russo's booking practices, though. Bottom line is this - the company has refused to take a look back at their booking history and WAKE UP. Mantel was hardly a top notch guy in creative, Russo was a mixed bag in his TNA run, but the bottom line with Russo is he needs a qualified filter and/or sidekick to really make things plausable. Again, from the past, Mantel or Jarrett are NOT the guys to filter or be his sidekick in creative. If Jerry Jarrett was still around, perhaps he would fit well with Russo as they seemed to have done some good booking back in 03 when they were partnering up. Simply put, much like people in creative need to play upon the strengths of each person in the company, the bookers need to be used for their strengths as well. My thought is that Cornette being Russo's filter would be the best solution, with Jarrett and Mantel virtually eliminated from the committee altogether. Tenay, I believe, is back in the mix again, and honestly I would allow him to book the X division from top to bottom.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 The current plan in TNA is to bring in Doug Basham and Damaja (formerly Dany Basham) as a new heel tag team to be managed by Christy Hemme to fued with VKM. In the long run with her fued with VKM, Christy Hemme is expected to turn heel. The idea is that the male audience can't get a girl, and certainly not one that looks like Christy, so therefore they want to see women like her degraded with Kip representing the male audience. In Christy Tuxedo Match at Against All Odds, the idea was to get Kipp over as face and Christie as heel. Russo's original script called for BG to cover Christy up with a towel after she had stripped but BG refused saying that if VKM were to be faces, covering Christy up with a towel would turn them heels. Source: Wrestling Observer Thoughts on this? They should be a good team to have in TNA, I will say that much. The angle is the stupsz, though.

They're both just so awful, and stuck in '98 -- hey kinda like Vince Russo!

Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 On the bright side, comparing the fanbase to Billy Gunn should garner some good heat. I also like how they release one team and then bring in one that's most likely going to be more expensive.
Broward83 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 Question: TNA is in Spike. Spike is a Viacom company, much like MTV and the like... Why hasn't Dixie looked at partnering up with Viacom's music division and get some actual music for the stars of TNA? I mean, to me... despite all of what ECW was.. it was the music I connected with which in turn got me into the wrestlers of ECW. Enter Sandman plays and I think of Sandman. I hear "Man in the Box" I can't help but think of Tommy Dreamer. So when will TNA make the push to get real music made for its stars?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 Thats a good point. I think they've made some strides with getting some music for their ppv montages... But man does some of that music for enterances need to go. At the same time...you know who's coming out when AJ's music hits...no matter how bad it is. Mecca 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 It costs money to use real songs........ECW paid the fees. The WWE has some they didn't pay for because either the band gave them to them......did them for the WWE, like Saliva and Motorhead have or it was a mutual thing for exposure which TNA doesn't get over the WWE. Notice the WWE does have Jim Johnstone under contract to make music....

daileyxplanet 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 Am I the only person who automatically thinks of Efeds when people suggest licensed music? For indy promotions, it's fine, because who expects them to have their own music dept.? But when a promotion on a national level has well known music, it just rubs me the wrong way. I think it's fine sometimes........the only reason national promotions generally don't use liscensed music is because it costs money. An indy fed does it I doubt the band even knows it's going on. Like if WWE played Enter Sandman Metallica would be all up their ass, where as if local indy fed did it nothing would happen.

Source: Wrestling Observer Thoughts on this? They should be a good team to have in TNA, I will say that much. The angle is the stupsz, though. I like the heel Christy is playing. Sounds like Christy gets to play the "I'm better than anything you'll ever get losers" bitch, which usually works extremely well in wrestling for a female. The faces wanting her to be nothing more than a bimbo..that doesn't make sense. Getting in her face for being a bitch, yeah that would work really well and honestly if she plays the character right, the crowd would go absolutely crazy when she gets her clothes ripped off at the end of the feud. So really, the angle does work. It's worded horribly, but if they were to play it right, it could really dominate and give them one amazing tag team. Of course, they'll probably just have it be BG and Kipp just want her to be a stripping slut..which wouldn't work unless Christy could play her character awesome. I wish the Damaja could wrestle under his own name and get to talk. The guy is amazing in the ring and on the mic if they just let him ride.

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 The Damaja COULD wrestle under his own name, since Danny Basham was just a stage name. His real name is Danny Hollie, but that's just begging for a mixup with you-know-who amongst casual fans.
