I, too, would watch every Sox game that came on WGN (well, I did that this season as well) and Fox Sports Chicago. Unfortunately, since I moved last Novemeber, I wasn't able to catch all the local broadcasts this season.

I would think that people would root for the franchises that are closest to your area....but that would mean rooting for the Royals.

It's just our mistrusting nature due to the Chicago sports failing us many times. It doesn't mean we just appeared in a vacuum after they made the playoffs. If this were true, you wouldn't hear a peep about the Cubs in the early going. Guys like me, Czech, sfaJack, and others are a sample sizing of what most real Cubs fans are like. We wanna talk Cubs not only in September and October, but January, February, March, and you get the idea. And we've got more reasons not to ever talk about them than any other fanbase in pro sports. But we do. I don't wanna turn this into "our team has a better and bigger fanbase than yours does." I think a lot of us Cubs fans have become more callous since 2003, so I can understand why non-Cubs fans would dislike us. Regardless, we're all about talking baseball and the Cubs all season long. It's like a curse. That's why there can be millions of dollars being made from ticket sales, advertising and whatever the Tribune Co. can think of, and yet, not put everything they can into building a well-rounded team sure to compete.

All year long in the baseball threads I'm the one talking about the Sox, ISportsFan too, and I have had to defend the White Sox. Now they're in the World Series and the other Sox fans are popping up? It annoys me too, but that's the nature of the White Sox fanbase. It's there, they just don't make themselves known til its safe to do so.

I figured that following them for 10 years, watching most of their games up until I left Illinois and was unable to, and owning a black Labrador with white paws which I named "White Sox" qualified me as a fan, but I'd like to hear what your reasoning is. And no, I didn't mean for that to sound bitter or condescending.

But I did, however, outright state that I am NOT a odgers fan, which is why I chose to take it out. I simply follow the team because (A) their games are on here, and (B) Jayson Werth went to my high school.
