Bruiser Chong Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 The umps are just handing the Astros this game. How the fuck do you throw out a batter with legit beef in the middle of an at-bat?
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Arguing balls and strikes and the F-bomb are automatic ejections, and he probably did both. That said, the umpire is a fuckwad and they're giving it to Houston.
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 That ump is going to fucking hear about this shit.
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Why are the umps handing this to the Astros, anyway? I mean, I can understand the NBA refs doing everything they could +1 to push the Shaq-n-Kobe Lakers past the Kings, Trail Blazers, etc, but the Astros?
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Lidge is nasty. He's the best closer in baseball. Better than Rivera
Guest Brian Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 That was a crazy way to get three outs, crazy last half-inning.
bob_barron Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 The Cardinals are the new Braves <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â I was just saying the same thing to my friend. Â I think we all need to stop doubting the Astros. Â I will be disappointed if this goes 6. Â Yea, I think Astro fans would agree.
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 The Cardinals are the new Braves <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope they decide to be the new Marlins for a few games. Angels too.
Slayer Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 The Cardinals are the new Braves <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hope they decide to be the new Marlins for a few games. Angels too. Given the history of the ChiSox and Astros, a comeback from 3-1 wouldn't surprise me
The Czech Republic Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I hate baseball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 2nded
Bruiser Chong Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Well, the Cards now have to beat Pettitte, Oswalt, and Clemens. HAW! Backe was the pitcher to beat today and their offense didn't get it done. The umpiring didn't help at all, but the Cards have been a team to go above and beyond poor umpiring.
The Czech Republic Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 "I'm trying to think of the last time a team blew it in the NLCS....oh wait, the Cubs!" Â Shut the fuck up about the Cubs, Jeannie Zelasko. I'll stick my cock in your throat if it has to come to that.
Guest Finch Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Sox vs Stros, would these teams score any runs against each other. Â Buerhle vs Oswalt Garland vs Clemens Contreas vs Pettitte Garcia vs Backe

I'll stick my cock in your throat if it has to come to that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Didn't the Astros blow it just last year?
Slayer Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Well, the Marlins now have to beat Zambrano, Prior, and Wood. A comeback could happen... Â though I'd laugh if the Cardinals just roll over and die tomorrow
Just John Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 ANY team would be hard pressed to beat Pettitte, Oswalt, and Clemens 3 times in a row. I guess you could point to the fact that the Cards did just that during one regular season series, but it's gonna take a real effort to do it again. Â And about the Umping... I didn't see the Edmonds play that he complained about, so I don't know if that would have directly led to any runs, but what's the excuse for having runners at the corners with no outs and not getting one run across?
The Czech Republic Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 JESUS CHRIST SHE DID IT AGAIN Â "Ozzie has seen Chicago blow a 3-1 lead in the postseason before!"

I'll stick my cock in your throat if it has to come to that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Didn't the Astros blow it just last year? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â They did blow it last year, except they were down 2-0. Then had to win three straight at home and couldn't finish at Busch. This year they can clinch at home and have Pettitte.
Precious Roy Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Houston had to be the underdogs going into this series, so they're making a lot of people (like myself - Houston in 6) look smart. That said, they're not dominating by any stretch, and if STL wins game 5 I think they could easily turn around and win game 6 back at home, and then it's a whole new series. Â A Houston-Chicago WS will be great for those of us who like pitching duels, but outside of Clemens' starts it'll probably tank on the coasts.

Slayer Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Yeah, but how many WS this decade have been ratings killers? Last year with Boston and '01 with NY post 9-11, essentialy. Â '00 - No one outside NY cared '02 - No one outside California cared '03 - Proved the Yankees are not automatic ratings
CanadianChris Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Fox kills the ratings themselves by making it seem as though Boston and the Yankees are the only two teams in baseball worth caring about (although they're not alone in that regard). When they get eliminated, everyone stops watching because the other teams aren't perceived as being important enough for anyone outside their home cities to care.
Slayer Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I know the Sox-Yanks rivalry has a long history, but in recent times I don't remember the HUGE fuss coming about until the '03 ALCS, so that doesn't explain the previous WS.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 I know the Sox-Yanks rivalry has a long history, but in recent times I don't remember the HUGE fuss coming about until the '03 ALCS, so that doesn't explain the previous WS. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because Fox and MLB have made little to no effort to expose fans to teams and players outside of their own markets. Every week Fox shows a Yankee game. I can see that anytime. Games from divisions on the other side of the country are not treated as big events until the postseason, and that hurts their marketability.
Slayer Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Sounds like the NCAA and west coast football
