RAW rating hits all-time low on USA network

Recommended Posts

Guest wrestlelover

Apparently I live in some wierd alternate universe as I went to a party on Monday and there were kids trick or treating as well. I also know that there were several bars and clubs that had parties?contests an Monday. I realize most of you are on the anti WWE/pro TNA bandwagon but come on.

I concur. I went with my friends trick or treating, COLLEGE STYLE, and apparently other than afew homes, no one was giving out candy after 8. I was def back in time for Raw no problems and all the parties, that I know of happened all the weekend. I'm in NY too...and no curfew around these parts that I know of.

Am I in some part of NY that's not on the east coast then?

Thanks to street lights, we're not exactly living and dying by the sun. Kids, and I mean kids, 7-15, we're still out going door to door at 10:00, we got our last trick or treaters at 11:30, and it was two 10 year olds.

If anyone trick or treats the day before, they are part of a tiny minority. The idea that that's in anyway a good point is laughable. I've never seen so many lame excuses trotted out in one thread, just to prove that at least 90% of people STAYED HOME ON HALLOWEEN.

I've never seen somebody try to back up their point of 90% of the world being out and about because people on his/her street were.

And because they have been my whole life, no matter where I've lived. And because the entire day is about going out. And because the idea that a holiday rating is a sign of any viewer trend is retarded.

There might be a few more but those are the winners.

No, but you obviously don't live in the city where even 10 year old kids would get their asses beaten if they rang a doorbell 30 minutes before midnight to get some fucking candy. But, you're just arguing to argue even though basically everyone BUT YOU has told you that your account of things isn't accurate anywhere else.

Can I just state, AGAIN, that Halloween is not a holiday. Never has been. Probrably never will be.

Don't tell Garfield that.

USA and WWE were delaying the rating cause even they know blaming Halloween is a lame excuse.

At least it's not as bad as the time they tried to use Columbus Day as an excuse.

If you want to blame anything on the low rating, blame football and the bullshit we saw on last week's RAW, that says a hell of a lot more than Halloween, which is just a fucking bullshit excuse.

Besides, hasn't the RAW rating been falling week to week for the past few weeks anyway?

"No, but you obviously don't live in the city where even 10 year old kids would get their asses beaten if they rang a doorbell 30 minutes before midnight to get some fucking candy."

No I don't. I live in a nice place where people don't beat up children for enjoying something.

You should go back and count. I'm just 1 person.

"Can I just state, AGAIN, that Halloween is not a holiday. Never has been. Probrably never will be."

Right, and neither is St Patricks Day. People just get together to have a good time because it's monday again. If people treat it like a holiday, it's a holiday. It even has decorations. :)

And can someone tell me how a show can delay it's rating? I'd love to know.

He lives in the nice section.

You know, the part that likes kids ringing the doorbell at midnight.

Not to defend Fishy but NY isn't just NYC.

The main reason is likely the skit from last week. While Raw can take a hit from some big football games, the fact that WWE and USA both hid the ratings shows they know it wasn't football that caused the drop. If they did, they would have released the ratings as normal and put their spin on it.

^Thank you. Do all of you live at colleges or next to ghetto's?

I live @ college, and attended parties @ OU (Ohio U, major rep for being a top party school) and very little weekday halloween parties were @ either. You'll get gatherings but hardly blown parties.

No one's answered this yet:

How can a show delay it's own rating?

Networks release their own ratings and yes, they can delay them for as long as they want. Usually networks will pimp a number like mad and get it out immediately. In this case, USA delayed the release of the RAW number for a whole day looking for a spin to put on it since they had just hyped the RAW number a few weeks ago and now the show is eroding.

And no matter how you put it, the number has been eroding from the Homecoming number. A little was to be expected, but they have lost more than a whole rating point now. It's not good.

WWE didn't release the rating until today because it was a low number. Simple as that. They know by Wednesday. How come we knew about the Homecoming number so quickly, but not this number?

And Halloween is not treated like a holiday. I work at a law firm. Court was still in session for the attorney's who had trial. Mail was still delivered. Just because there are decorations for something doesn't make it a holiday.

Jesus christ where do I live? "Major party schools" only having "gatherings" because it's a weekday, kids are in before 8 because they'll get beaten. Am I just in some sort of utopian society where kids can be out after dark and people who like to party party?

Friend upstate at college went to 3 parties on campus monday, so it can't be a class thing.

Yeah...SuperBowl is by far the busiest day of the year for both pickups and deliveries.

It's pure hell.

Especially in Buffalo...when you're driving through snowy roads during the game.

Hehe... suffer!

DA, I define a holiday as a day based around an event or idea that most people participate in. Decorations are just more to the point.

"Networks release their own ratings and yes, they can delay them for as long as they want. Usually networks will pimp a number like mad and get it out immediately. So what spin was there? Who's got the press release from USA?

"And no matter how you put it, the number has been eroding from the Homecoming number. A little was to be expected, but they have lost more than a whole rating point now. It's not good."

It's been 4 weeks. It's still the 3-4 number they've been getting for years now. If this was a dip to below 3, ok, 3.0, sure, but 3.4? Come on. Threads shouldn't even be made for throw away numbers like this.

"True, but after a while it gets old. Fishy, you're wrong. So very wrong. Just accept that, and move on with what passes for your life."

Try offering up a point or directly countering something. I'm sure as hell not taking you as an authority on anything. I'm still not sure what seperates you from every random troll this board has seen.

There's a thread every week for ratings; I don't see your point.

As for holidays that most people participate in, Halloween past 9:00 on a weekday night is not one of them. Kids have school in the morning; parents have work.
