Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 To add to that, I live in the Bay Area and all the Halloween club parties and bashes in Oakland and San Francisco were this weekend as well.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 3, 2005 IT WAS FUCKING HALLOWEEN. Parties were mostly all on weekends, and most kids go trick or treating the night before. Someone probably already said this, but for some reason, I'm drawn to your posts.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter are all valid holidays when it comes to blaming low ratings. Halloween is not. Stop blaming Halloween for people finally realising this is shit and they don't want to watch it anymore.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 3, 2005 How is Easter a good excuse? I grew up in Jesus land, and it's not like you do anything for it.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 The last time Halloween was on Monday was in 1994. Unfortunately, there's no ratings info I can find for 1994 to see if there was a significant drop.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 you get together with family and eat a ton of turkey and or ham to celebrate Jesus' journey back to Heaven or some shit. Its a holiday where most families spend time together though rather than plopped down infront of a TV.
Guest ABOBO Report post Posted November 3, 2005 I used to go visit relatives out of town on Easter weekends and get back Tuesday. Not a common practice I'm sure, but could have a slight effect.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 oh, and you can add 4th of July weekend to the list of holidays. Basically any Holiday where there's a large spike in the travel bussinesses will see TV ratings go down. Halloween aint one of them though. And I didn't mean to sound sacraligious with my explanation for Easter but that's about all I know of it.
Guest tony manero Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Here's what Meltzer had to say about the situation: "The reason the Raw rating didn't come out until a few days late is because both WWE and USA were trying to keep it from being out. The show did a 3.4--with a week's worth of push for Steve Austin. No question this time when people said after the skit the week before that they weren't going to watch, at least for a week, a lot of people meant it. So much for all the Spike TV excuses over the last four years." I really don't agree with him, because it was Halloween and everybody, at least in my neighborhood, was out partying or with friends trick or treating. naiwf 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 I have no clue where the hell Fishylogic lives, but I wasn't aware that there was any part of NY that has an enforced curfew, much less one that goes into practice at 10 PM. As someone who lives in Manhattan, I will also chime in that every major party thrown within the 5 boroughs was on the weekend, and that the only people who actually did anything on Monday were likely 12 and under. Also, since someone whined a couple of weeks ago when I asked why a 9% drop in ratings from one week to the next wasn't something to worry about, I wonder if it's OK to say that a 27.7% drop in one month should raise a red flag? Guest *KNK* Report post Posted November 3, 2005 IT WAS FUCKING HALLOWEEN. Sorry but around here, when it's halloween, everyone with a life is either at a club, party, or out on the streets. This "oh it ends at 8" and "most parties were on the weekend" shit doesn't fly. 90% of Halloween parties were on Monday. Curfew around here is 10 and isn't even enforced until 11:00. If you were sitting home watching TV monday between the hours 0f 7-11, you were in the minority. But go ahead and tell me I live in bizarro world, and how this rating is a clear sign that the WWE is dying, and how next weeks 3.6+ is just the result of people looking for a TNA replay. Sometimes the air is just ripe with crack smoke in this forum.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bull fucking shit. No chance in hell were 90% of the Halloween parties on Monday. I can tell you in my college not one, do you understand that, not one halloween party was on Monday. Not only that, every single club in Cincy had halloween parties on Saturday night, not Monday. I should know, I was at Red Cheatah on Sat. night, maybe I should have told those people that their party was a couple of days too soon. How stupid are you? Have you ever even been to a club? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. Im @ Miami of Ohio and every halloween themed party was thrown friday and saturday night. Nothing for Monday night. All the other college halloween parties I've attended were thrown the procedeing weekend before Halloween, if Halloween befell during school days. (M-TR). As usual Fish tries to act like he has a clue but he really doesn't.
Promoter 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Vince will look at the ratings and still blame the audience. I can only imagine what Vince will do if ratings start to go into the original numbers for RAW when they first started on the network.

Guest Brian Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Well, I don't want to say that nothing was going on on Halloween, but the majority of stuff, especially the big parties, took place the preceeding weekend in Seattle. Now, there was some assorted bar stuff, but that tends to draw bar crowds. And the kids are all home by nine; not a single person came by past seven.
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Yes, it's not reasonable at all for people to be out on a Holiday based around GOING OUT. "Bull fucking shit. No chance in hell were 90% of the Halloween parties on Monday." I stopped at 5 on Monday. There wasn't 1 to be found Friday, Saturday or Sunday. "I can tell you in my college" That can't have anything to do with it. "not one, do you understand that, not one halloween party was on Monday. Not only that, every single club in Cincy had halloween parties on Saturday night, not Monday. I should know, I was at Red Cheatah on Sat. night, maybe I should have told those people that their party was a couple of days too soon. How stupid are you? Have you ever even been to a club?" Yeah, went to one Monday, where there was a HALLOWEEN PARTY. And who the hell goes trick or treating the night before? I've never seen one person do that in my entire life, and I've never had one kid come to my house the day before looking for candy. That's just idiotic. To suggest a holiday that's all about young people going out has no affect on the ratings of a tv show geared towards young people is just ridiculous. I can't understand for the life of me how some of you got so jaded. But yeah, rather than actually debate the issue, just post links to other threads and talk about me. That's sure to keep this thread on track....
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Halloween is not a holiday. That is why most parties and celebrations took place over the weekend. Trick or treating was the event of the day for most on Oct 31st.

Trick or treating was the event of the day for most on Oct 31st. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know that Trick or Treating was done by 8 pm where I am and all the parties/Halloween concerts were on Saturday night. It's not like anyone gets a day off from College/High School for the day after Halloween. If you don't get the day off, it's not a holiday.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 Wouldn't blaming low ratings on Easter be the most pathetic excuse of them all, considering that it falls on A SUNDAY? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I meant for TV in general, not Raw. Also Halloween is geared towards 12 years old and younger as far as Trick or Treating goes yet the Raw Demographic is 18-34 year old males. Face it, crappy booking and stupid promos are to blame and not Halloween. I hope to see Ratings stay the same for next week so Fishyswa can blame the rating slide on it being October in an odd numbered year or some shit.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 Believe it or not, I think the rating next week will probrably go up .1 or .2 because of post ppv curiosity. However, it was stated earlier in this thread, no matter how you slice it, since the move to USA, the audience has dropped 27%. That is a problem. They have not sustained an audience since the move. Also, when the 4.6 came out for Homecoming, WWE couldn't get that number out fast enough. Now, according to Meltz, WWE is now trying to delay ratings numbers getting out. Hell of a turnaround in one month.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 I deliver pizzas...and I can tell you that buisness goes up on Halloween...because everyone is at home. We got killed on deliveries. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That doesn't surprise me at all. With all the little kids walking across the streets nobody wants to be out driving and at the same time they're probably exhausted from the parties over the weekend and don't want to cook. You know as an American what our philosophy is; Can't somebody else do it?.

Spend 20 minutes during Halloween @ any regular size neighborhood and you'll see a pizza delivery vehicle every couple minutes. Correct me if Im wrong BPS, but isn't Super Bowl Sunday the busiest day of the year for you guys?
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2005 Around here it is pitch dark by 6 PM (after daylight savings ended). There was some local trick or treating, but it was wrapped up around then. Apparently, Fat Vader and Goldust don't bring ratings?

It's pure hell. Especially in Buffalo...when you're driving through snowy roads during the game.
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted November 4, 2005 Also, someone asked "Who has treat or treating the night before", I've seen cases where neighborhood blocks will have Halloween on Sunday nights because otherwise it would interfere in the kid's school work/after school activites and the parent's work schedule as well. It's more common then you think.
