therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 And that's just hate. The Big XII is no worse than the Pac 10. The Pac 10 has a slight edge but it's not like leaps and bounds above the Big XII. Nothing the Big XII does will ever bring it respect. The conference could maim every non-conference opponent they play and then have EVER conference game go into multiple OTs and people would still call them weak and shitty. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That still doesn't explain you rooting for your biggest rival. Do you see teke rooting for Ole Miss? Or Kotz rooting for Florida? Or APO rooting for Auburn?

Although, I have thise strange feeling the Canes are gonna get screwed yet again and LSU is going to surpass them in the BCS.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I can do what I want. That's the only explanation you need. I think Texas has the best shot to beat USC and I'm tired of the Big XII never getting respect. So I want them to win the national title to shut everyone the hell up. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Here is a completely serious question...why do you care about whether the Big XII gets respect? It's not like there's some award for best conference that all the schools can share in. It's just an arbitrary grouping of schools.

I'm waiting for everyone to start complaining that Miami is getting screwed by Texas.

Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I second that. For a "Sports Writer" you lack any kind of intelligent analyzing skills for the games you watch. Wow so OU fields a great team that is up 28-7 in the first quarter and then they send out the team that lost to TCU and hang on to win 36-30. It was like they lose interest, started turning the ball over, and then had NO FUCKING CLUE how to defend the option. Oh well. I guess with the way this team has played this year I'll take any win. And jesus. They'd have lost this game too probably without AD. He's looking pretty big for OU right now. It's especially embarassing when you have to hang on to beat a team you've blown out like 159-16 in their past 3 trips to Norman. I guess it's horrible for a group of young players to get up that big that early. If that's the kind of report I could expect from your future "Sports Writing" then I hope to hell you find a new career, quickly. OU was doing just fine until Bomar hurt his left ankle. Also, they decided once they were up by 21 points to try out some "cutsey" plays that just didn't work. Running Peterson from the shotgun just doesn't work like running him out of the "I" formation - they tried cute shit and the offense started faltering. The defense did just fine until the offense's cute crap lead to some quick three-and-outs, wearing out the defense, and that's why they started to slide against A&M. All in all, Texas A&M got their shit together after the first quarter's thumping, desperate to avoid another 2003 routing by Oklahoma. I guess you want to watching borring blow out games instead of hard fought ones like this? I'm rooting for Texas in the Rose Bowl as well, though. I want to see USC take on more than one team that can really test them...and I want to see some Big 12 revenge on Southern Cal for the Orange Bowl.

You should be ashamed of yourself for rooting for Texas....what's the matter with you damnit!!!!! That would be like me rooting for FSU or a Bama fan rooting for Auburn
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 But championships bring their own respect! What difference does it make whether fans of other schools give you "respect" or not? YOU WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP!! THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

There's no reason LSU should pass us if we run the table. Our win in Blacksburg, imo, was much more impressive then LSU's win over Bama tonight

I want to see USC take on more than one team that can really test them...and I want to see some Big 12 revenge on Southern Cal for the Orange Bowl. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah because I write stories like I wrote that post. No OU did have no fucking clue how to defend the option. They left the corners wide open and couldn't contain. And they let A&M's backup QB run over them. OU got complacent after getting up 28-7 in the first quarter and then couldn't rediscover their fire. On top of that they got careless with the football and let A&M score 17 points off of turnovers. The offenses cute crap(the reverses and such) were working just fine if you actually watched. It was when they went into Chuck Long conservative "we got this in the bag" mode that they faltered and couldn't get it back. The secondary blows dude. There is no way around that. The defense in of itself is not that good overall and it's really really young and can be easily fooled. Yeah A&M got their shit together but OU's shit fell apart. I'm sure others who watched the game saw the same thing. Oh and Chris...yeah championships bring respect but there are still people that try to dispute OU's 2000 national title. Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I'm waiting for everyone to start complaining that Miami is getting screwed by Texas. This is why the hideous Miami-FSU game that was earlier than it should have been, is so annoying now. So, now we get another year of people tolerating the BCS. Great. Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 BTW, there is one time when it is acceptable to root for your worst rival, namely if them beating another team helps out your team of choice. Otherwise, yes, unacceptable

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Oh and Chris...yeah championships bring respect but there are still people that try to dispute OU's 2000 national title. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oy. Again, why do you care? Why should that matter? Do you honestly expect everyone to agree with your point of view all the time? The bottom line is, they went undefeated and beat the designated #2 team in the national title game to win the undisputed national championship. If that isn't enough for you -- if you need EVERYONE across the country to see their greatness as much as you obviously do, then you're in for a pretty unhappy life, because you'll never get everyone to see it your way in pretty much anything that comes along in life. Rant over. Enjoy the rest of the thread.

Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I watched the game. The reasons I stated are true. Some of what you just stated is also acurate. Some. Mostly, though, you are totally off base with what you say about this team. Especially Bomar and Reggie Smith - two freshman that will be tremendous over the next few seasons. Oh, and Malcom Kelly is really starting to emerge as well. Just get off the back of my Sooners! Also, who gives a flying fuck about people suposedly disputing OU's 2000 National Championship? We got the ADT Trophy and that's all that matters, you dumb sonouvabitch.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Because those criminals at Miami might break in and steal it. I was wrong about Bomar. I thought he sucked but he's showed improvement. I'm not ready to declare him the second coming yet. Smith is alright but I don't think he'll ever be as good as Derrick Strait and Malcom Kelly is awesome. Oh and Allen Patrick seems really good to. Even if he did almost get the ball knocked away today by showboating too early.
