Dangerous A Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 If any show deserved it, it was that one. Just a blowaway show. Now UFC just needs to work on getting a better venue because the Hard Rock isn't going to cut it anymore.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 I kinda like the intimate atmosphere of the Hard Rock Cafe, I liked the visual of a standing room only crowd, where you saw people on their feet with a drink in their hand cheering on. I don't like the back wall with the guitars on it, though.
Guest Brian Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Hard Rock makes a good venue for the smaller shows, as they're not as big of sellers and draw really active crowds. I don't mind so much for the cable show. MMAWeekly says they did a 3.7 in the 18-34 demographic. I wonder what the replays did...
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 From UFC.tv TUF2 Finale Does Strong Numbers on Spike TV The November 5th finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season Two, which was televised live on Spike TV, was a big hit with viewers around the country, earning a 1.99 household rating. The show, which featured the crowning of Season Two's Ultimate Fighters - Rashad Evans and Joe Stevenson - also performed extremely well in the Male 18 to 34-year-old demographic, garnering a 3.7 rating, while being seen by over 2.6 million people.
Dangerous A Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Thing is, the 700 or so people at the Hard Rock seemed like 7,000 because they were given 3 bad ass mutherfuckin fights. However, if one or two of those fights would've sucked, the venue would've played a much bigger role in how it all looked.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 I also kinda liked the night clubbish atmosphere. Seein Leo after he did a line of coke up in the balcony all casual and shit was cool.
jwpeer Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 I also kinda liked the night clubbish atmosphere. Seein Leo after he did a line of coke up in the balcony all casual and shit was cool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Glad I wasn't the only one who thought he had just got done doing coke right as the camera panned to him.
Guest Brian Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 I want to see quarter hour breakdowns to see how the fights grew and if they were the peaks.
Failed Bridge Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Great to see it get those kinds of ratings even with a shitty heavyweight finals. I'd like to know how the Diego Sanchez/Nick Diaz fight alone did in ratings.
Guest Brian Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 I think the heavyweight final was the highest quarter with like a 3.3 or so. More news from Da Meltz: --ESPN won the weekly cable ratings race last week by a huge margin of USA and TNT, with Spike at No. 9. The two hours of Raw were No. 5 and No. 7 behind football coverage and one episode of Sports Center on ESPN in the top four spots and Nip/Tuck at No. 5. Saturday's UFC TV special came in at No. 11. In Adults 18-34, USA was No. 3 behind USA & TBS and Spike was No. 5. The second hour of Raw was No. 5, UFC was No. 6 and the first hour of Raw was No. 10. What is huge about that is UFC draws very few women viewers, and WWE draws a lot, so with males, UFC probably decisively, on a weaker night for viewing, beat WWE in WWE's target demo. For 18-49, USA was No. 3 and Spike was No. 5. WWE's hours were No. 4 and No. 8 and UFC was No. 9, so most likely for Males 18-49, and UFC does not do well with anyone over 35, it still beat Raw. For 25-54, USA was No. 2 and Spike was No. 5. Raw was No. 5 and No. 7.
