TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Although it won't be taped until tonight, TNA has already released the preview for this week's Impact, so I figured I'd get the discussion started. Here's the preview: OFFICIAL PREVIEW FOR SATURDAY'S "iMPACT!" ON SPIKETV! The aftermath of "Genesis" as the road to "Turning Point" begins! This Saturday night, "iMPACT!" returns to SpikeTV at 11pm ET with the fallout from "Genesis" and matches for "Turning Point" announced! Footage will be shown from last Sunday's Pay-Per-View, plus the "iMPACT!" debut of new TNA star Christian Cage! "iMPACT!" will feature an update on the condition of "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, who is recuperating at a local Orlando hospital since being savagely beaten by Samoa Joe at "Genesis" in one of the most heinous attacks in TNA history. In addition, the "Samoan Submission Machine" will be in action on "iMPACT!" against X Division competitor Jerrelle Clark! NWA World Tag Team Champions America's Most Wanted will be in action on "iMPACT!" taking on the team of Sonny Siaki and Apolo! Surely, the war between AMW and Team 3D is far from over, and Brother Ray and Brother Devon will be at the arena watching! Who will face Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the December 11's "Turning Point" Pay-Per-View? We'll get an update on "iMPACT!" as Championship Committee member Larry Zbyszko has a big decision to make! Saturday night on SpikeTV will also be the "iMPACT!" debut of new TNA star Christian Cage, who has one thing on his mind - a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Title! What does Christian Cage have planned for this Saturday night? Tune in to find out - 'cause that's how he rolls! In the main event of Saturday's "iMPACT!", it will be former NWA World Heavyweight Champion "The Man Beast" Rhino taking on "The Monster" Abyss! Two of TNA's unstoppable juggernauts will clash in singles action, with only one star standing at the end! Which big man will emerge from this TNA clash of titans? Tune in Saturday night on "iMPACT!" to find out! ALL THIS AND MUCH MORE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT ON "iMPACT!" ON SPIKETV! credit: PWInsider.com My first thought when I saw that main event was didn't we just see that match, but that was Rhino/Sabu. So eh. Clark is gonna die, and I would assume Monty gets Jarrett at Turning Point, unless they make him go through Raven first. I'm most looking forward to what they do this week with Christian. How about you?
gWIL 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Here's what I would like to see for Turning Point. NWA Championship Monty Brown vs Jeff Jarrett Brutal Double Header (winner of each match, advance to a Triple Threat Title Match at Final Resolution) Barbwire Match Sabu vs Abyss Dogcollar Match Raven vs Chris Harris (AMW drops titles to Team 3D on Impact) X-Division Championship AJ Styles vs Jerry Lynn (If Lynn is still with em, they could do a nice Champion vs vet storyline) X-Division #1 Contendership Somoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels Christain Cage vs Petey Williams (Nice PPV win over a credible midcarder for Christain) Team 3D's Tag Team Invitional: Winner Receives Title Shot at Final Resolution The Naturals vs Team Canada vs Konnan and Killings vs The James Gang vs Sabu/Jeff Hardy vs Diamonds in the Rough vs Strong/Aries vs Sonjay/Sharkboy vs Rhino/Hoyt 4 Teams start, a team is eliminated when both of the partners are forced over the top rope. A new team replaces the old, so that there is 4 teams in at all times. Numbers are selected by lottery.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 I think AJ vs Sabin would be a better choice. I mean, the guy almost beat Jarrett on Impact so it's gotta count for something.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Actual music during the opening video! Not great music, but music nonetheless.
Guest Prodigy Report post Posted November 20, 2005 I'd say Genesis is coming along pretty nicely with AJ vs. Joe and AMW vs. Team 3D.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Do you mean Turning Point?
Guest Prodigy Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Yeah, my bad.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 The Frankinstein reaction Abyss gave to the barbwire was classic. AAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH! BARBWIRE BAAAAAAD!
Guest Prodigy Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Fun main event, although I wish the ending was something less predictable than Sabu costing Abyss the match.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 "Dorothy...you are not up north anymore" Hmmm...Monty blew that quote. EDIT: "Autracity"????
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Joe's squash was awesome with a nice post-match promo by AJ. I'm guessing it took him ten takes to do it right. Jeff Jarrett. Yay. Sonny Siaki and Apolo are just around to serve as mucular jobbers, and they did their job well tonight. Hot little tag match between them and AMW. D-Von has no business being shirtless, regardless of how many gallons of oil he dumps on his chest before coming out. More Russoriffic booking, as instead of doing a regular PPV match followed by a gimmick PPV match, they're skipping right to the gimmick. How the hell does Gail Kim have Zbyszko's cell phone number? Wouldn't they have used that BEFORE screaming at Tenay? God I hate this 3LK-Billy Gunn bullshit. Hopefully Killings turns heel by December. Laziest resthold ever by Abyss. The fans' hugely positive response to Christian is going to help him in the eyes of the marks. On the other hand, Monty Brown commenting on Christian's clothes is going to help no one. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Fun main event, although I wish the ending was something less predictable than Sabu costing Abyss the match. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Face it. "Wrestler A costs Wrestler B a match" is ALWAYS going to be used when building up feuds. It will be used until the end of time.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 I couldn't understand half the words Monty said. It's like he was using big words he didn't even know how to pronounce correctly. "Autracity"??? What the hell does that mean?
HandofFate 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Christian's selling of the Pounce after just 1 appearance shows you he knows what to do, so he's DEFINITELY gonna be doing some good stuff here in TNA
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Christian's head snapping on the rope made that selling of the Pounce even more brutal.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Joe's squash was awesome with a nice post-match promo by AJ. I'm guessing it took him ten takes to do it right. It was probably the best promo AJ has done ever. God I hate this 3LK-Billy Gunn bullshit. Hopefully Killings turns heel by December. What's the deal with Kippy tying his shirts like a girl? On the other hand, Monty Brown commenting on Christian's clothes is going to help no one. Monty trying to be Dennis Miller did'nt help this week.
Guest Bulwark Report post Posted November 20, 2005 "Bob the Builder boots." Monty is gold on the mic. If only he had the ring skills to back it up...
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Yeah I found the "Bob the Builder Boots" line great. If he were to just stop trying to sound intellectual with the random big words that promo would bave been better.
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Hmm... Big monster face with very little in-ring talent with a repuation for intensity and finishing move is based off bouncing off the ropes and knocking someone down and tends to cut non-sensical rambling promos and used big words that may or may not be actual words... Deja Vu anyone?

qdes 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 The Frankinstein reaction Abyss gave to the barbwire was classic. AAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH! BARBWIRE BAAAAAAD! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> G-sus, I hoped Abyss wouldn't have to be such a serious character.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 This was a decent show, however, I think the rating will be down to around .7 or even lower, based on lower than usual responses in other forums. Monty/Christian exchange was ok. Yeah, there were some nitpicky things that need adressing, specifically Monty, but all in all, a good segment. I didn't like Abyss/Rhino as much as others. AJ finally was finally afforded some time to show some fire. It wasn't blowaway or anything, but it worked and I can't wait for Joe/AJ II. The backstage stuff with 3LK wasn't bad. The backstage stuff with Jarrett was. I also hate how TNA still does the same things WWE does like having someone interupt someone else with theme music and full on entrance extravaganza. Stop trying to out 'E' WWE because it aint gonna happen. I know you have to have some lighter things and entertaining segments and not just straight wrestling, but when you try to do damn near the exact same thing WWE does week in and week out, it comes off as lame. AMW/Team 3D segment was fine. They need to give Brother Ray/Bubba the mic more often because he can actually talk. He isn't the Rock or Jericho on the mic, but he's in the top 10% in TNA if given time on the mic.
Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 Wow this show didn't even get one page, SD! got three pages and that ain't much either. I didn't like the show
hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 The problem is they almost have to copy things from the 'E just so you can draw more people in. Necissary evil?
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2005 If Eddie hadn't died, SD would've been one page, two tops. Creatively, SD was/is dying. So is TNA, unless they start to change things up format-wise. They are in a comfort zone and have not taken a chance yet in booking, which is why things look like groundhog day in TNA as far as who's on top with the belts. Guest Jack Potts Report post Posted November 21, 2005 One thing TNA kinda gets right regarding it's backstage skits is the relative lack of what I call the "Magic Camera." The Magic Camera is the one that just happens to be in the locker room or the GM's office while the heels are plotting their next nefarious scheme. In TNA, the skits usually revolve around a backstage interviewer, like Shane Douglas. However, I wish they'd go further with that and have Douglas pursuing wrestlers for a post-match interview or barging into the dressing room seeking their thoughts about something. Just "happening" to have the camera there when something big goes down is a little tiresome. It would add to the sense of verismilitude to have Douglas waiting in the gorilla position with a cameraman to get a wrestler's quick take on the match a la the half-time interview with a football coach just as his team is running back to the locker room. It would be a nice way to differentiate their product from the WWE.
