Question - is this a remake of Superman 1, or is this actually a "Superman Returns" movie? If this is just a remake of the 1st one, why the hell is it called "Superman Returns" it should be called "Superman Remade" or Re-filmed, or Re-envisioned. Is this another chapter in the Superman Saga, or is this simply just a remake?

It's loosely based on the first two Reeve movies (minus a few details). According to Singer, it takes place four to five years after the second film, with Superman being gone the whole time. That's where the "returns" part comes from. It's not a remake or an origin film, though.

 

I can't wait to see the full trailer, rather than just the teaser.

I guess it being a "teaser" and not a "full trailer" needs to be taken into account, though. But the first footage I saw on BB made me very confident in the project.

^ I think there was one before that. That teaser was just shots of Bruce travelling the snow, talking to Ducard, it ended with Bruce in the dungeon and Ducard saying "A Legend mr wayne", and the bat mask in the cupboard, followed a quick flash of batman.

Yeah, I remember the original Batman Begins teaser. It was promising but it didn't really tell you much about the movie.

I was really unexcited after seeing the teaser. Course it's just a teaser, I'll wait till the actual. The Batman Begins trailer made me excited to see the movie or at least the full one, this trailer just made me think, "Well, maybe the main trailer will be good".

I liked the music in the trailer, because it invoked images of a champion and having Jor-El talk about humankind captured the feel of what Superman should be about. However, I think seeing a Superman that looks so young is going to take some getting used to for me. I also don't like the colors of the suit, the powder blue and maroon just doesn't work for me. They tried to make it look more subtle, but Superman's an alien from another world and is supposed to grab your attention. Superman's first appearance was one of the most memorable moments in the first Superman movie. I think changing the suit was a mistake.

That is the scariest thing I have ever read. I went through all of that and immediately watched the Superman Returns teaser and I swear I almost started fucking crying with relief. Anyone who complains about things like the size of the S-Shield or the shade of red used on the costume needs to read that to see what sort of Superman movies we were so close to getting over the past 15 years. This article ends in 2004, so the current version of the film isn't discussed.

It is amazing how many production teams this film has gone through in all that time, with EACH ONE OF THEM getting the movie SO wrong before Bryan Singer somehow wound up with creative control. And I thank god he did.

Poirier’s script had an angst-ridden Superman visiting a shrink in order to deal with his feelings of being an outsider and a freak by virtue of his alien heritage, ditching his red and blues for a black suit, using Kryptonian martial arts, and being killed by a Doomsday who bled kryptonite, Brainiac, the Silver Banshee, and the Parasite. WB liked the script, but when Kevin Smith was offered to be a consultant on the film, he blasted the script for its lack of respect for the source material. (Poirier took offense at Smith’s reaction, claiming that he "would never stoop to Kevin’s level by dissing another writer’s work.")

I thought Kevin Smith's script was good for the time period (based on the Death of Superman arc) but it was nixed. Of course previous treatments were absolute crap, like making Luthor Kryptonian and shit like that, but that still doesn't excuse IMO how Superman looks for this movie. The neck/cape part of the costume I can let slide but that brownish/maroonish color instead of red and that small "S" symbol are a turnoff. And I'm not even a Superman fan.

Brandon Routh is packing

Brandon Routh, who is set to play Superman in the upcoming movie, must be feeling that same pride I felt when I realized I needed to switch from Magnum to MagnumXL condoms. The actor's package will be digitally reduced because the movie execs found it too distracting.

 

The new Superman is giving movie bosses a headache - because of the size of his bulge.

They fear Brandon Routh's profile in the superhero's skintight costume could be distracting, reports the Sun.

 

Hollywood executives have ordered the makers of Superman Returns to cover it up with digital effects.

 

The Sun's source said: "It's a major issue for the studio. Brandon is extremely well endowed and they don't want it up on the big screen.

 

 

Not only is this more proof that Hollywood executives ruin everything, but it suggests they have no interest in accurately portraying Kal-El (not that Kal-El) Think about it, Superman was definitely hung. All Kryptonians were. It has to do with gravity. It's science.
