Go get the lead back. There's like a minute left.

I guess defense isn't cool to college kids, anymore.

In the unlikely scenario of Stanford scoring... Am I the only one who thinks they will go for two and the win?

After that UCLA game, I'd certainly see them going for it in regulation.

All they to do was beat f'n UC Davis and they wouldn't have had to try to pull of a miracle win. I'm sure Oregon is going to want to lay a beating on them in the season opener next year after seeing their BCS chances slip away.

So, which BCS bowl has the 1st selection of teams?

That's where Notre Dame is playing. Yippee.

Rose Bowl has to take 1 and 2 (USC and Texas as of now).

Fiesta gets the first real choice of the selection process and will take ND and pull strings to ensure a ND-PSU matchup.

As far as I recall of what I saw on ESPN...

I think selection goes Fiesta-Orange-Fiesta-Sugar... with the SEC winner in the Sugar, and ACC winner in Orange.

If Miami would have won the ACC like they should have, Orange could have taken Ohio State.

Now, I don't know.

Pretty much right, except that the Orange takes either the ACC *or* the Big East champion.

Barring a VERY ugly Florida State win in the ACC title game, they'll take Virginia Tech over West Virginia in a heartbeat.

I'm shocked it took Drew Weatherford this long into the season to self-destruct. Florida St just was not very good and anyone who thought they were just because they beat a Miami team that suffers from extreme identity crisis was fooled massively.

I wasn't all that worried about ND since I was watching OVW actually, then turned it on just to see them score the winning TD. On the late news they showed the Gator Bowl rep at today's U of L game and he said the bid was practically in the bag anyway.

I doubt it could have happened but ND losing tonight and then playing U of L in the Gator (rather than taking their spot) would be tremendous.

The biggest losers of the day? Of course it would be USF. They went from "The guys the BCS was terrified of" to now having to beg the Meineke Bowl to take them. They may actually finished tied for 2nd with U of L in the Big East, but no bowl on earth would want them over the Cards. It's called having a fanbase, Tampa. Hell, USF has 40,000 students and no one down there gives a shit about USF's football or baskeball programs.

So I'd imagine the Big East's bowl order goes like this then -

BCS - West Virginia

Gator - Louisville

Insight - Rutgers

Meineke Car Care - USF

I'd imagine Rutgers will draw more than USF will, which is why I put them in the Insight Bowl.

Rutgers is almost guaranteed to go to the Insight Bowl no matter what.

Several Insight bigwigs are tied into Rutgers and have said they plan on trying to get them invited to the bowl this year.

So I went to the Orange Bowl today to see Miami and UVA. My boys lost, but played really well. Really good game. In person, you can really, really see how the speed of a team like Miami makes it very hard for them to lose games, even when they're fucking up left and right. The game was good, but my god, the Orange Bowl is an absolute dump. Easily the shittiest, most poorly maintained stadium I've ever been in. This is Miami, perennial power, and they have two speakers and no jumbotron. The entire thing is a rustbucket. So disappointing.

Also, FSU's been on a steady decline this year. Weatherford has been shit since the loss at Virginia started his big tumble. He's practically a lock for three interceptions a game now. It was a terrible progression for the team: get upset on the road, get upset at home, get hammered by Clemson, get hammered by #2 rival. I'm half-expecting VT to shut them out next week.

I'm kinda pissed that BC isn't getting the chance to play V-Tech for the ACC Title. Sure they had the same conference record as FSU and FSU has the tie breaker but...

1.) BC has the better overall record

2.) FSU is coming off of 3 STRAIGHT LOSSES

It's tough. Even Clemson seems more likely to give Virginia Tech a game at this point. But still, FSU was a faltering but respectable 7-2 when they clinched the division, and BC laid an egg in both of its showcase games this year (FSU and VT), pretty much beating everyone they were supposed to but nothing more than that. Considering that BC would be there had they managed to beat 5-6 North Carolina (who, admittedly were a very tough opponent at home this year, also beating Virginia and playing Miami, Maryland, and Wisconsin very close), I think my sympathy only goes so far.

You know, Tommy Bowden really needs to get his team to avoid these 4- and 5-game losing streaks midseason. One win out of that streak and Clemson's playing VT.

I think the thing that bothers me most about it is that the Seminoles REALLY backed into this one while BC is coming off of two wins. I know they'd get killed by V-Tech but hell, they deserve the chance in my opinion.
