OAO 12/3 TNA Impact! Thread

Recommended Posts

Thursday at 10? That's random.

I'm guessing they don't want to go head-to-head with CSI. Also, it seems the primetime special is only an hour this time.

Match listing for Thursday:

-“The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe vs. The Amazing Red

-The 4Live Kru’s Konnan and Kip James in tag team action

-Plus, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett and NWA World Tag Team Champions America’s Most Wanted vs. “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy and The Naturals!

and the money match:

In his TNA wrestling debut Christian Cage vs. Bobby Roode...looking forward to this one

It's not really a "big primetime special" per say...it's a regular Impact episode 2 days early due to the video game awards

interesting show review from another board

"Since there were only three matches on this week's show, I figured that I would rewatch the show to see the amount of wrestling that happened on the show since people used to point out how little wrestling there was on Raw and Smackdown.

Times are bell to bell

4 Way Match: 6:02

Abyss vs. Kenny King: 1:36

House of Fun Match: 5:39

Total wrestling time: 13:17 on a 60:00 show

Extended out to a comparison for a 2 hour show: 26:34 of wrestling.

The Abyss match ended at the 18 minute mark of the show. The Abyss/Sabu brawl ended at the 26 minute mark of the show. Raven did not come out until the 47 minute mark and the main event began at the 53 minute mark.

The Jeff Jarrett/Christian segment was 8 minutes until they started to fight and the whole segment lasted 10 minutes.

That means that there was no 'wrestling' for 35 consecutive minutes.

Just pointing this out to the people who claim that TNA is all about wrestling and not talking.

At least the opening match was not interrupted by commercial. '

What a loser. Did he sit there with a fucking stop watch?

I thought it was a great show.

The 4 way was nice, although I knew Sabin would win... He should be Joe's first challenger after Joe wins the X-Title. Alex Shelley was great as always. His new gimmick is ok, but the motive that Tenay gave was beyond retarded. He's taping his match so he can study them? Ever heard of Tivo, Alex? Or asking management for copies of the tapes?

Kenny King looked good. Glad he got in some offense.

Another amazing piece on Rhino.

The crowd shitting all over Jarrett was FANTASTIC. Here's hoping TNA takes notice. Time for Jarrett to go bye bye for a while.

The main event was ok...

Joe's beatdown on AJ was brutal. I can not wait for this match.

They need to ditch that "Less Talk, More Action" commercial... That got a big laugh out of the guy's I was watching it with.

Pretty crappy episode overall and I'm pretty close to just giving up on Impact. It just seems like the same formula again and again with the WWE sports entertainment thrown in. No thanks.

I'm tired of multi way X division matches where everyone comes off looking the same and no one gets over at all. They are boring, overdone and frankly I just don't care anymore. Which sucks because individually I like all the wrestlers involved, especially Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin who should filling out the World Title mid card anyways.

I've now seem essentially the exact same Abyss - Sabu segment 3 weeks in a row...Yawn

The only part of the show that was worth while was the Christian Cage - Jeff Jarrett segment which I thought was good but a bit confusing. Once again I have to ask why TNA is building to a potential future feud instead of the upcoming PPV matches. I mean if they don't want me to spend my money I guess I won't.

And to cap it off I get the age old, tired, worn out overbearing GM, DoA or wahtever the hell its called putting the screws to the rebel baby face. oh oh more please! give me a break. and for dessert throw in a love triangle. Alternative my ass.

Impact sucks.

I thought it was one of the better Impacts. This was a development episode rather than a sell episode. But still,

AJ Styles and Samoa Joe

Bobby Heenan

Sabu and Abyss

Jeff Jarrett and Rhyno

Rhyno

Christian and JJ

JJ and Jackie

Christian and Bobby Roode

Christian vs. Monty Brown

4LK

Raven and Larry

Raven and his girlfriend

Raven vs. DitR

4 X division guys

AMW vs. 3D

This is all the stuff they were trying to get over _in 40 minutes_.

Man, it's like, that dude talks about non-wrestling but in half the shit he was talking about, there was wrestling. That backstage brawl between Abyss/Sabu counts as wrestling, no?

TNA needs to bring back CW Anderson and Johnny Swinger! David Young is ok but he no Anderson.

You don't ever watch Heat on WWE.com, do you?

Nope, has Parisian done anything other than be a 2nd Gen jobber on the wwe.com exclusive shows?

He's gotten a win or two over total jobbers.

I thought this was a great week for impact despite the scale back in match time. Angle progression was the focus this week and it was good to see the Abyss angle move from just run ins into a nice over the building brawl. I thought all the interview segments were good this week (which is amazing for me to write); the 4lk with Bullet Bob smells greatly of the overdue breakup and the AMW interview was good with Terry Tylor. Jarrett's promo with the Dr. Phil line was good despite the over acting of the Professor, and the exchange with Christian is something that TNA has really lacked. I still hope that they don't cave in and give us Christian in a title shot right after Turning Point.

The X Division 4-way was a great match and really showed the best these guys can do in a short period, hopefully it will translate into a longer match for them at the PPV. The ME was a great addition to the Raven/Larry Z feud and it was nice to see the handicap match actually work. It was good that they included Cassidy Reily in the spot and thought that this was a great way to sell the House of Fun match for the PPV using some different players.

Edit: Not to mention the biggest push of the night, Diamonds in the rough (DitR). I thought TNA did an excellent job of putting over DitRpior to the Whitesox show on Thursday. This match gave them ME exposure and a win over Raven without burying Raven in the process. I read that the promo Simon Diamond cuts on the White Sox is great.

I do find it odd that people bitch about TNA having no storyline's but then when do they a angle intensive show all the bitching starts about there not benig enough wrestling...

Anyway, I really enjoyed the show this week, and felt they did as well as they could in just an hour to keep the build going for Turning Point.

And I like paranoid Jarrett... I feel dirty :(

Mostly showing that people are going to bitch no matter what. I prefer more wrestling but thought this was very entertaining. The SE portions on Impact are usually very short and to the point. The Jarrett angle was almost too long but was well done and excellent compared to most of Jarrett's promos.

1. Cause nobody wants to suffer thru another 15 minute Jeff Jarret promo

2. E C Dub mutants migrated south for the winter

3. Cliche dramah involving women

4. All the hype about the gimmick match and they bring in Diamonds in the Rough as the opponet

5. Larry Zybrisco and the contract angle is stupid

I know it's redundant, but it's shows like this that really demonstrate why TNA needs 2 hours. They can do good angle-based shows, and good wrestling-based shows, but they don't have the time to do both in an hour timeslot. Presumably having 2 hours would fix that.

Hell even 90 minutes would make a world of difference.

The Gayda shit better be shes mad JJ got Gail Kim to try and seduce Charlie Haas into coming into TNA and joining him. Cause JJ: Ladies Man, doesn't work.

And Bulletbob had the best promo on the show.

That is the one of the few plausible scenario's for Gayda to be there and involved with Jarrett. If they play it like Jarrett is some kind of player, they will have ruined Gayda's debut. I really hope it leads to a Charlie Haas debut at Turning Point.

I think if Jackie cut a promo giving her reasons for being there, and then JJ says "Well, I tried to do this the nice way... but Charlie, you ain't playin ball, so I gotta do this my way" and clocks Gayda with the guitar and holds her hostage, telling Haas that if he doesn't show up and help him out at X Event, then it's so long to Jackie Gayda.

Currently, no. I think it'd be good because it would give Haas a hook and something to invest in him right off the bat.

Off the subject a little bit, I was digging Alex Shelley's work in the 4 way and think he will have a huge year in TNA if he keeps up. The camera thing is indyriffic, but if he can tweak it a little and keep up with his awesome lucha-like submissions along with a great knack for some comedy work, I see Shelley breaking into the upper echelon of TNA's X Division and could easily see him take the number one heel spot in the X Division around this time next year. (if TNA is still in business)

It also gives him a sort of importance. "This is how far JJ will go to recruit Haas, so there must be something about Haas worth all this struggle" plus it allows for a blow-off match, plus it contrasts how JJ has Team Canada and AMW on his side (they're in it for the money, power, etc. Haas didn't care about that stuff, but when its his wife on the line...). I don't think the angle could last long, maybe a PPV or two. 3 Months tops from start to finish. You could work in all the cliches from "we've got your (wife) held hostage" movies (for example, Haas holds Gail Kim hostage and tells JJ to give back Gayda 'or else', JJ says 'go ahead, do what you want, i don't care' and Haas' bluff is called and he lets GK go... GK slaps JJ across the face for the betrayal and JJ says "Baby, I knew he was lyin".

Haas would also provide for a nice distraction for JJ's next challenger (let's say Christian), so they can delay the Christian/JJ feud in a reasonable way. Of course, at the end, Haas and Christian make an agreement which ends up saving Jackie Gayda and screwing over JJ. Christian and Haas then team together to battle the evil forces.

I dont know about that the X Division has roughly 3 tiers:

Top

AJ

Fallen Angel

Joe

Middle

Sabin

Petey Williams

Sonjay Dutt

Aires

Bottom

Strong

Bently

Shelly

Sharkboy

I liked the Four Way. Aires did some neat stuff, and Shelley had some kinda funny heel spots (teasing a tag to Aires by dangling Sabin hand in front of him/Doing the super cool secret handshake with Petey Williams)

Anyways, I always thought the tiers were(in order):

1st:

AJ Styles

Joe

Daniels

2nd:

Petey Williams

Austin Aries

Chris Sabin

Alex Shelley

3rd:

Strong

Dutt

Bentley

Sharkboy
