Basically, all the Pit has going for it is CE these days. Does it get too right-wing even for me? Yes. But at least that monster developed in a semi-organic process, whereas our New And Better CE here was a result of an edict from the moderators that things would be different, yes sir, this will be a left-leaning folder now. It just ended up being the Mike And Marney Show, it wasn't Jingus's master plan.

 

The CE here IS much better without Mike/Marney, though not nearly as active.

 

The problem is, again, it's difficult to attract new posters especially to those boards when the site still looks like it's centered around wrestling and then other stuff. That's slightly irritating, especially for political types. But I guess that's maybe just my opinion. TSM is a difficult place to attract any new posters, period.

I'll attempt to incorporate my view of hating all politics into the CE folder.

 

Honestly, it's brutal trying to start anything in the CE folder at the Pit. Everything consists of such easy straw-man potshots.

 

I tried a while ago to start movie/video game topics. They went nowhere.

 

Frankly, you hear a lot of bitching about TSM on the Pit, and quite a bit of bitching about the Pit on TSM. You don't have TSM people going over TO the Pit and shitting on the board. You have plenty of Pit members shitting on this board.

 

So this girl walks up to me, and she's all like 'uhhhh' and I'm likeL 'Whatevah!'

I post regularly at the Pit, never went into the CE folder, had Leena flirt with me, and cared about nothing. That's what you should be striving for.

I don't give a shit about anything, and I was immediately accepted into the posting elite as soon as I joined. So the lesson is that everything is stupid and no one cares.

Mike and Marney are okay as long as they're held in check somewhat, which they pretty much were here. I generally like them. The problem is when it's all one side because everyone else has been run off. That happened at TSM, then at the Pit, and it made things really annoying. (See the Health Nazis thread for when I finally snapped.)

The Pit is far more cliquey than this board. And as many people have pointed out, trying to start or post in topics other than CE or the Boredum thread is pointless.

But yeah, every other folder is outclassed by TSM's respective counterparts, except Comics--nobody wins when it comes to discussing comic books--and the General Chat boards are just what they are, so it's a push. As for trying to spark discussion, it's worth a shot, but there's only so much music discussion that I can squeeze out of LessonInMachismo and his ilk, y'know?
