snuffbox Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 The coachella website announced that the 2006 dates will be Apr29/30. This is a pretty plausible rumor of the lineup... April 29, 2006 Depeche Mode, The Strokes, Portishead, Franz Ferdinand, Fatboy Slim, Massive Attack, Infected Mushroom, Royksopp, Kings of Leon, Doves, Sufjan Stevens, Broken Social Scene, Atmosphere, Blackalicious, Super Furry Animals, The Buzzcocks, Primal Scream, Supergrass, Ladytron, DJ Peretz, The Shins, Dieselboy, Tortoise, Sleater Kinney, Richard Hawley, Grooverider, Death From Above 1979, Yesterday's New Quintet, The Walkmen, Son Volt, Will Oldham, The Clientele, Lightning Bolt, Cage, The Crimea, OK Go, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, John Kelly April 30, 2006 The White Stripes, Roxy Music (featuring Brian Eno), The Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Boards of Canada, Underworld, Ween, Death Cab for Cutie, Armin Van Buuren, Built to Spill, De La Soul, Big Star, Iron & Wine, Uberzone, Happy Mondays, Dinosaur Jr, TV on the Radio, Elbow, Eagles of Death Metal, The Tears, Esthero, T. Rauschmiere, Cat Power, The New Pornographers, Carl Cox, Grandaddy, Calexico, Explosions in the Sky, The Wedding Present, Andy C, Fatlip, DJ Icey, The Notwist and Themselves preforming as 13 & God, Devendra Banhart, The Coral, Stateless, 65 Days of Static That rumor had the dates right a few weeks early and several sites have 'confirmed' Depeche Mode. If its proven true its a pretty good list...Massive Attack and Portishead in one day sounds too good to be true for trip-hop marks though.
LJSexay Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 shittttttttttt. I wanna go both days =[. Arcade Fire? Shins? Death cab? Walkmen? Explosions in the Sky? Iron & Wine??!?!? AHH! I bet each day is like well over a hundred dollars.
snuffbox Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 I think its 75 per day...not sure though. Dont get too excited until all's confirmed.
snuffbox Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 The Depeche Mode rumor appears to be completely confirmed now. Websites are reporting that Franz Ferdinand is opening festivals for DM too, including coachella, so this lineup might not be too far from accurate.
Guest Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 That's about an hour and a half drive from where I am, but the downside to going to the Coachella Festival is that it's hotter than shit.
Henry Spencer Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Roxy Music (featuring Brian Eno) !
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Roxy Music (featuring Brian Eno) ! Seriously. And Portishead, live? To be west coast now and then.
Matt Young Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 First day= crap. Atmosphere is good though. Second day= probably worth it, even though the Yeah Yeah Yeahs suck ass.
Gary Floyd Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 First day= crap. Atmosphere is good though. Second day= probably worth it, even though the Yeah Yeah Yeahs suck ass. You are on crack. Anyways, I really wish I wasn't stuck in Southern Ohio. I would do anything to go to this.
snuffbox Posted December 14, 2005 Author Report Posted December 14, 2005 Roxy Music (featuring Brian Eno) ! Seriously. And Portishead, live? To be west coast now and then. As good as it sounds...Im not going to believe that Portishead, Massive Attack, Underworld, and dieselboy are playing the same festival until its confirmed. If this is confirmed then I might have no other option than to ride a Hound from Baltimore and set up camp in the desert.
LJSexay Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 BOTH those dates look fucking awesome. What to do =[
JangoFett4Hire Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 when did Big Star get back together?
snuffbox Posted December 21, 2005 Author Report Posted December 21, 2005 They are far from confirmed...
Sonic Reducer Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I've already seen just about everyone I'd go to see ... so I'll stay in Michigan this year around.
snuffbox Posted January 14, 2006 Author Report Posted January 14, 2006 Paul Oakenfold can be added to the confirmed list. Im not a big fan. Underworld appars to be confirmed though...and thats just awesome. Giant Drag and Imogen Heap are confirmed as well I think. Iron & Wine and Calexico are touring elsewhere and wont be at Coachella. Heres the newest ticket info from the coachella site for those interested... "Here's your chance to buy 2-day passes and onsite camping tickets before they go on sale to the public. The presale starts Wednesday, January 25th at 10am and ends Friday, January 27th at 10pm (pacific standard time) online through ticketmaster. The password for this presale is SEVEN. 2-Day passes will be $TBA + $2 to charity (+ applicable service charges) Onsite camping tickets will be $35 (+ applicable service charges) Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, February 4th at noon." The official lineup probably wont be out til the first week in Feb so the presale is a bit of a crapshoot. Bonnaroo fest news comin very soon...

Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 when did Big Star get back together? Back in 1993. They played live only sporadically throughout the years; only Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens remain from the original line-up—the other two seats are filled by Ken Stringfellow and Jonathan Auer from the Posies. This line-up released an album in '05, called In Space. Said album contained only two really good songs ("Lady Sweet" and "February's Quiet"), a few okay ones and a lot of crap. I don't see what's the big deal of Eno playing again with Roxy Music, even if it were true. He was only with the band for their first two albums; they released a lot of awesome music after he left.
snuffbox Posted January 16, 2006 Author Report Posted January 16, 2006 I dont know why anyone would buy a ticket to a festival before the lineup is announced.
snuffbox Posted January 20, 2006 Author Report Posted January 20, 2006 New Big Rumor - Smashing Pumpkins.
snuffbox Posted January 29, 2006 Author Report Posted January 29, 2006 Official lineup will supposedly be released tomorrow. Bonnaroo announcement on Wed.
snuffbox Posted January 30, 2006 Author Report Posted January 30, 2006 San Diego radio station (the one that first said the Pumpkins were playing) is now reporting that there is a delay in the lineup...because the new Sunday headliner hasnt been finalized yet.
snuffbox Posted January 31, 2006 Author Report Posted January 31, 2006 Still no official full lineup yet...but the new second day headliner appears to be Tool.

snuffbox Posted January 31, 2006 Author Report Posted January 31, 2006 Pitchfork has to be among the stupidest entities on Earth...though Im sure theres a few people here who hold it to Biblical standards. In an article listing Coachella bands they mention Tool as being a 1996 band, despite the facts that they headlined Coach in '99 (one of the reportedly best and safest days in the fests history) and were still enormously popular as of Lateralus. What is the deal with trying so hard to be indie? I honestly dont get it.
