Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 I'm calling it now: Colts will not win the SB. It might seem a little extreme to say so after just one loss, but with the aura of invincibility of both the team and (more importantly) the dome gone, they've got a lot more to overcome. A big excuse used for their playoff losses this decade has been that they've always been on the road but that this year teams will have to beat them at home, and now SD's shown everyone how that can be done. Agreed. I think that if Pittsburgh or New England gets another chance, they can beat them. Is your name Michael Gee? Never read any of his columns, but it's safe to say I'm not. Just because teams know how doesn't mean they'll be able to. It's not like they're the 2001 Bears who just fall ass-backwards into 13 wins. They're by all accounts, a really good team. It was just a bad day. Of course, what the hell do I even know about football.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 I'm going to actually stick up for The Colts and remind people that they were missing The Stay Puft Marshmellow DL; Corey Simon along with their leader in Sacks; Robert Mathis.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 (edited) Can someone explain to me how this is a NEW gameplan to beat the Colts? You hit Manning and make him do things he doesn't want to do is somehow a new concept? It's the same fucking concept the Patriots used for two seasons. What are the odds if you pressure Peyton you might be able to beat them?? Jesus Christ, listen to yourselves for once experts. This is old news. Pressure Manning and hit them and you can beat them. It's the blueprint to beat any team in the NFfuckingL. It's not like Marty revealed something new here. Edited December 18, 2005 by 2GOLD

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 Or SD in an encore performance though getting to the playoffs is a big hurdle for them. Right now they're battling both Pitt and KC for the final Wild Card spot. Here's how that looks... San Diego: 9-5 Week 16 @ KC Week 17 vs Denver KC: 8-6 Week 16 vs San Diego Week 17 vs Cinci Pitt: 9-5 Week 16 @ Cleveland Week 17 vs Detroit In order for San Diego to clinch the second Wild Card spot they have to win out and hope Pitt loses one game. In order for KC to clinch the second Wild Card spot they have to win out and hope Pitt loses both games. In order for Pitt to clinch the second Wild Card spot they really just have to win the next two games. KC is eliminated with a loss to San Diego and a Pitt win @ Cleveland next week
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 Jacksonville's been able to put pressure on the Colts for years, it just doesn't work out all the time because they don't have the offense. They would have had them in the second game this year if Leftwich and Taylor weren't hurt. Without them, they just barely beat the Niners. I'm not saying the Colts are bad, I'm saying this "hit them and you can beat them" isn't new and it's really stupid to hear announcers and everyone saying, "now we know how to beat you!" So..don't turn the ball over and hit them....wow, that's a novel idea! Why, I thought the way to beat them was turn the ball over alot and let Manning have all day to throw the ball. Boy is my face red.

If they beat Minnesota next week or whenever they play again, then they would clinch. Their remaining games are Green Bay and Minnesota, both on the road. Minnesota has Baltimore and Chicago. I think a win against Green Bay clinches it regardless because then even if they lose to Minnesota, they have the better division record. I think.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 blah blah scenario shit Is it it time to go to a 16-team playoff? No, half the NFL should not have a shot at the Super Bowl. Upper rankings should be the only ones with a chance.

Also, they were the last team to beat the Colts at the RCA Dome prior to today, and they nearly beat them there earlier this season. The problem with most teams is that they don't have the team speed (especially Pittsburgh's defensive line), so they don't blitz because they don't want to leave anyone open. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 I would add I don't see Bears losing all 3 of their remaining games. This would require a meltdown of epic proportions by the defense. I would also like to add that if Orton doesn't do jackshit tonight in the first half, they need to get Grossman back in.

Upper rankings should be the only ones with a chance. More than half the NBA and NHL have shots at their respective titles. I think there should be an inverse relationship between playoff teams and games per season. Baseball teams have 162 games to prove themselves, so 8 teams is fair. Basketball/hockey have just about half that many, so they should get twice as many in the playoffs. Football has one-tenth the season that baseball does, so asking for 16 teams is more than reasonable.

And if SD, Pit, and Jax all tie, the Chargers would get the #5 seed.
