I'm having alot of fun with this game. My games have ridiculous scores, but it's still alot of fun. I'm currently doing a Capitals dynasty and I'm at game 70, 8 points out of 8th place in the East. Luckily I have a few games in hand.

I'm starting to go fucking insane looking for NHL EHM 2005. If I don't find it tomorrow, I'll send anyone a money order that can find me a copy of the game and send it to me.

Just buy the try and buy from the official website. You just need to download it and use your credit card.

Wait, were you the one leary of using your credit card over the internet?

Posted

Well, try and buy's not an option with my slow internet, and now I can't find anywhere to buy a boxed copy from. I found something to hold me over for a while, so this probably won't be a problem for another month, in which case I'll just wait for the next one.

Gotta say, other then a few bugs here and there, I love the game. After a few weeks of fucking around at a few mod boards, I finally found out how to get my face in the game;

Well, after going on a five-game losing streak I changed my strategy to whatever hippie scheme the Pens were doing to "Crash the Net." Now I'm doing much better and I'm at the .500 mark 12 games in. Of course after playing well for a stretch I lost 10-3 Atlanta, who had the lowest point total in the league (?!)

But the real reason for my post is that my starting goalie got tired after playing 10 or so games and had to be scratched for a few games. Do forwards and defensemen need similar breaks? If so, how many games can someone with good endurance last before taking a break?

I picked this up about a week ago. A bit complex at first, since I like hockey, but don't actually know hockey, but it's a lot of fun now that I know my way around things. I'm the Bruins, with the latest roster updates, and apparently Owen Nolan is magic. Merely signing him was enough to boost my team's overall ratings (on the matchup screen) at least 5 points each, barring goaltending.

Speaking of the matchup overall ratings, what does the number under the Stanley Cup symbol mean? I figured out offense, defense and goaltending easily enough, but I'm lost as to the meaning of the Cup.

How much of a shot they have at winning it all, I think. That rating is useless, as I won with a team almost entirely consisting of rookies and guys from the draft and had like a 65 Cup chance.

Colorado took the bait, so now I've got Aebischer holding down the net. For shits and giggles, my lines; line 1 is subject to change very soon, as I'm trying to get rid of Zhamnov as soon as possible.

Oh man, I broke this game. I had to stop playing because it's too easy.

I basically took the Penguins updated roster (with Crosby) and traded EVERYBODY except Whitney, Sid, Fleury, Tomas Surovy, and Konstantin Koltsov. I ended up with something like 6 1st rounders and drafted all "A" potential players. I simmed two seasons, got two #1 overalls, and did nothing but upgrade my minor league and head coaches. Now, four years down the line (year three was a mild success, got to the second round as the 8 seed in the east, but lost to the Devils), my team is rated 99 across the board, Crosby won the Art Ross in a landslide with something absurd like 160 points, and half of my players are rated over 90. It's getting utterly sick, because I typically use the sim option until halfway through the 3rd period in order to get the upgrade $$$, and I'm rarely losing when I take over. The one time I was, I was down 4-1 and rattled off five goals to win 6-4 (two by Crosby, one by this sick offensive defenseman I drafted, and one by ERIC BOGUNECKI, who is pretty good in year four for whatever reason, then an empty netter). I still play, but for whatever reason, it's too easy for me. I have no desire to win the cup now!

I basically took the Penguins updated roster (with Crosby) and did all these great things and formed a team where everyone had 99 overall scores and free health care, and there was a Democrat Congress and President, along with eight Supreme Court Judges that kicked out Ruth Bader Ginsburg because they thought she was a Right-Wing extremist.

...

Year three was a mild success, got to the second round as the 8 seed in the east, but lost to the Devils.

Oh, wait, year four was the uber team, and year three was the eighth seed. Man, that year three squad must have been teh suq.

Well, you see what happens when you put a left-wing guy in the driver's seat. He builds for the future, instead of worrying about his re-election chances.

And he still loses.

Then again so far I'm something like 10-13-0-4 and about 10 points from getting in as an 8 seed. Not sure if I'm going to unload my roster yet and get rid of all those blue-collar working men just so I can increase my organization's bottom line.

EDIT: Just answered my question: 2 goalies, 18 skaters.
